  1. At some point you may want to post a reminder on the Major League forum. Just a suggestion... I almost forgot about it. I'm going to try and make it. The wife is gone that weekend so I'll have to find a sitter.
  2. I'd have to say Joey Meyer.
  3. Saw in Rotoworld that the A's signed Luis Martinez to a minor league deal. Is that THE Luis Martinez? EDIT: Yes, it appears to be the same 6'6", soon-to-be-27-year-old lefty...Mass Haas
  4. If anyone wants to listen live to hear updates, WEEI.com streams... I'm going to connect now. They've been talking about potential closers lately. Turnbow always came up along with Gonzalez from Pittsburgh. Out of those two I would think Turnbow would be the one that underperformed, even though he was an allstar. Reitsma was another one they talked about. And Hermanson.
  5. If i were to pick I'd rather have Jenkins than Mench on the roster. I think Jenkins in a platoon role could be relatively productive and he's still decent in the field. I think I dislike Mench more for his trudging through the outfield than his lack of offense (at least with us last year). Lopez doesn't excite me in the least but if that's what we'd get in a Mench deal, so be it. I'm still disappointed we're not being mentioned in any Baldelli deal but I think they (Rays) need pitching and we don't want to deal pitching before we get pitching in a Mench/Jenkins deal.
  6. I think Turnbow's done, too. At the very least, I don't want to see him work out his problems on the mound with the Brewers anymore. It almost killed me when Ned kept sending him out there.
  7. latest... www.rotoworld.com/content/Home_MLB.aspx The Philadelphia Inquirer says a deal sending Jon Lieber to Milwaukee for Kevin Mench and Derrick Turnbow is in place, pending the result of the Phillies' negotiations with the White Sox. rotoworld comment: The Phillies might not make the trade unless they can get Freddy Garcia from the White Sox, probably using Aaron Rowand and Gavin Floyd. It's unclear whether that will work, and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen isn't wild about the idea. "We have a center fielder right now," Guillen said. "I won't trade one of my pitchers one-for-one for Rowand right now. He's a good player, but we're not desperate for a center fielder. I love Aaron, but we need more."
  8. Latest on Mench to Philly from rotoworld... Jose Capellan reportedly could be included along with Kevin Mench in the rumored deal that would sent Jon Lieber to the Brewers. They think Capellan would be too much of a throw in. On a team searching for relief help, I would agree.
  9. While I appreciate the support I think someone else had the link in their post but it may have just been a little hard to see.
  10. Here's the link of the Brewers interest in Jason Schmidt from CNNSI
  11. I predict this thread will have 15 pages by tomorrow.
  12. He would definitely be costly. If anything, we'll drive the price up for the Cubs/Yankees/(insert other big market teams here)
  13. That is awesome!
  14. At least he wouldn't hit any more HRs off us.
  15. Can't argue there, Briggs. Didn't realize Lieber made that much.
  16. I would rather have Lieber I guess. I don't know. I didn't think we'd get crap for these guys so any major league starter would be good, I guess.
  17. Please Doug. I know you're probably hungover, but say no to Jon Lieber.
  18. This from a post on SOSH. Gordon Edes on Red Sox Hot stove on NESN just said there are rumors about a 3 way with the Giants and Nationals (blech!) on a Manny trade with Chad Cordero heading to Boston. Part of this thread.
  19. I'm assuming it's Manny.
  20. Seems like a lot to give up for Baldelli. I would rather have Crawford also but it's probably not enough for him.
  21. If we could get Vernon Wells and still keep Hall that would be unreal. A deal including Hardy would have to include other "quality" players because his value just isn't high right now IMO.
  22. I listen to WEEI (Boston) at least for a while everyday and they were saying Lugo was almost a done deal. But there's rumors flying all over the place. I just wouldn't be in favor of trading Hall right now.
  23. I can't believe I'm on the edge of my seat over Craig Counsell. I think the yahoo thing is the older story. I don't know.
  24. I'm starting to think the same way. But it's confusing to me. Hardy doesn't have the trade value at this point and Hall is just too good and cheap to trade. I just don't get it. I hope Stewart does not happen and the Counsell signing was just a Graffy replacement.
  25. In staying with the CF thing, has anyone heard of the Giants signing of Roberts being official? I remember Melvin saying yesterday that he thought he could sign Roberts if he went 4 years. But they (thankfully) didn't want to do that. I'm just worried he might be changing his mind.
