    No...and I'm not saying it won't lead to anything. Just that I am not going to get super invested and excited until it produces something. Guys change their swing on the daily...he is very far from the only guy in camp repping a revamped swing. His issues are likely far past his swing. Though in his defense, his experience at AAA was pretty limited before his call to the bigs.

    “Best shape of my life” ”New swing” ”New pitch” Yah…let me know when he actually starts producing. 9/10 the above people end up no better. His swing is less busy…but whether that actually leads to any change remains to be seen. A lot of that is for timing. This new swing can look cool taking 70mph BP heaters, but his timing may suck just as much or worse now.

    No, we paid Knebel the $5.1mil in arbitration for 2020 after his Tommy John surgery. He then proceeded to hurt his hamstring in that year.

    Sounds like a nice story…but I’m guessing his rehab so far is basically little to nothing and nothing one can really draw conclusions from. I guess one could be concerned a larger market didn’t try to nab him, but it is more than just money. We have to commit a roster spot to him in ‘25 to start the season. That’s pretty valuable to a team like the Dodgers who can load up on proven/safe bet talent. Banking a roster spot on him just for him to blow is a huge loss. For us, it is a little different as the bottom of our roster is a bit more of a revolving door . I do think the Brewers were by far his preferred landing spot, so that might have played a role in his decision.

    Do you think the Brewers, a small market, would sign Woodruff (a guy who won’t pitch all year) to anything that would limit their ability to do anything in ‘24 or ‘25? This isn’t a 5+ year deal, nor is it tens of millions of dollars. This is like when we signed Neftali Feliz to $5mil or gave Hiura millions to never see the MLB roster. A total waste of money, but it really did nothing in the grand scheme. It’s not something that is going to cause other moves not to happen if they come up. Our payroll is already much lower than last year and ‘25 figures to be even lower…even if we made some kind of FA splash. Right now I don’t think we have $50mil in salaries for ‘25 if you assume Devin Williams is a stretch to return. The Brewers would have to go on a shopping spree next winter to get a $100mil payroll, let alone one anywhere near an amount that would cause financial concerns for the payroll.

    Honestly, there isn’t any downside here. #1 It is a one year deal (basically) and our payroll is not that high in 2025. There is basically no way it would stop if from making any other move, either long or short term. #2 I am pretty confident this move was largely pushed by Mark Attanasio opening his wallet to give the green light. Even if we gave him $20mil for ‘25, it just really affects nothing for the payroll or how we can compete. If he blows, Attanasio’s bank account is the only thing taking a hit.

    Meh, at face value it will be. I am optimistic they will change it a bit to reflect college play-style though. I would imagine there is a dedicated team creating this game, so in that sense...it should create some decent differences. Either way I won't care too much. I usually just play an outdated Madden on game pass and I imagine this will be similar.

    I can see where the Padres might think we would trade an OFer from our depth. Eventually our OF prospects (or young OFers) will be kinda low value on the trade market as their prospect status shine comes off. Odd man out, whoever that may be, may not be worth much. That being said, Frelick is probably the best of the bunch and with the highest ceiling. I wouldn’t be against trading him (you’d be foolish to ever make someone untradable), but they don’t seem like a good trade partner. We would probably want to get something of a weakness (pitching) and they don’t really have that…I think. It also doesn’t help we aren’t exactly a team that is a super obvious contender and are in some form of a rebuild. Thus, trading for MLB players is unlikely and prospect from prospect trades are pretty rare. Let me clarify: I don't think they have a high enough ceiling pitcher that it would make sense to trade away Frelick.

    I haven't been to a ton of stadiums...but that is honestly #1 by far of the ones that I have gone to. Doesn't feel old, tailgating, concourses are fairly nice, great seats, affordable, incredible food, the fountains, and the outfield area for kids etc. is stellar. It is like everything you could want in a stadium.

    They put a NFL football game on a streaming service most people didn't have and despite the masses being upset (many of which refused to subscribe) the thing was a raging financial success. The reality is: #1 For every 10 people that claim they are going to be mad and not watch, probably only 1 actually follows through. #2 The increased price probably could afford for 2 of those people to stop watching...thus, they are making out with more money in the end. Is the lack of access to watching on TV going to greatly change people's willingness to go out to the ballpark? Probably not. Either they are the super committed type that subscribe to watch on their TV or the casual type that go just to go...probably never watch the Brewers on TV in the first place.

    Well that is still wrong though. Even in FA...saves make money. Josh Hader probably had a huge issue with it from Day 1, just didn't open his mouth till he had enough track record and success to have a voice. As antiquated as we want to call the closer role and the number of saves, it still is a gig the best guy is thrown into and preferred to be in. If Hader didn't close all this time, he likely would have gotten tens of millions less in FA.

    Their entire team is a walking embarrassment. At the end of regulation Mahomes and a WR were having a complete meltdown argument over him not throwing the ball to him. Mahomes has the same on field reactions that Rodgers got roasted for (throwing hands up etc.), but Mahomes goes to the sideline crying to top it off. People never want the Chiefs to win anymore because of their success, but I am surprised they aren't getting hate for the way they act. That being said, I hope Jordan Love turns into an insufferable personality. It seems like a requirement to be the best QB in the league.

    It wasn’t any different in the end, was it? Before a field goal wasn’t enough to end the game on the opening drive…unless my memory is toast.

    Correct…but it would have allowed their next possession to be a FG to win. Honestly, you could argue it would have been better to kick it to start. Let them be conservative, instead of Mahomes with 4 downs every time.

    Then again they probably don’t need to even risk one of those 4th downs if they had learned anything all game on those shorter 3rd downs. Chiefs kept bringing the house and the 49ers never adjusted. Kept having guys run routes that weren’t half completed before Purdy was getting nearly sacked.

    Yawn, one team has the best QB in football by a mile and the other has an elite game manager QB. 49ers should have just grown a pair one of the many chances they had to win the game. They deserved to lose. It is like the Tom Brady dynasty with a fraction of the competition.

    Honestly, dangerous or not…there isn’t any reason to be there after dark. It’s much like AmFam…why would you be near the stadium after dark…no point.

    I’m sure the Brewers would jump on any decent offer. I don’t think teams are dumb enough though. Unless you really want to save money, just keep him around as a fan favorite with Woodruff/Burnes gone.

    It dawned on me when someone mentioned Hoskins in the Burnes thread and being traded.: I could be pretty dumb in my thinking, but I’m pretty sure Hoskins is virtually untradable outside of a salary dump. Either he isn’t good enough and his second year is accepted by him…so no one will touch him with a 100 foot pole. HOWEVER, even if he is playing great, that second year is a huge roadblock. If a team traded for him and blew out his knee, their 3 month rental turns into a 1.5 year financial disaster. So if he is playing well, we may be able to find a taker, but due to his ‘24 price (not cheap) and risk of him coming back a second year his value would be basically nothing. So this trade doesn’t have some silver lining if we aren’t competing by trading him for something.

    Wouldn’t read much into it. He is one of the rare cases of an MLB players using Twitter like NFL players…like a 13 year old teenager. He did the same thing after Counsell signed with the Cubs. Pretty sure ye had some tweet after getting traded here. He just likes to make knee jerk reactions with emojis. Everyone else just thinks the same privately.

    The fact some of you guys are hammering the guy for his lack of success in less than 50 MLB ABs is a bit ridiculous, don't yah think? There has got to be a dozen better arguments with some kind of relevant substance than that.

    And for example sake: Last year the Marlins held the #35 pick in the draft. At #10 they got Noble Meyer to sign $1mil under slot. They then used those savings to give the #35 pick Thomas White almost $1.5mil overshot. White was ranked in high teens to low twenties for the draft. His eventual signing bonus was equivalent to pick #17. Teams usually know what kind of bonus guys are looking for going into the draft. A lot of high school guys will only sign for 1st rounder money or sometimes 2nd rounder money to be swayed from college. So there is a lot of opportunity to pick up a guy you had high on your board that falls to the 2nd or 3rd round...but you need the bonus pool money to give them the 1/2 round money they want. On the flip side a guy projected for a round much later than when he is picked usually will take the money where he was projected, not where he was selected. The most infamous year I can recall the Brewers doing this was the year they apparently loved Kodi Medeiros. He wasn't projected anywhere near the first half of the first round, so we saved crazy bonus pool money on him. We then got Jake Gatewood and Monte Harrison. At the time most fans gushed over the haul, as did many experts. Getting Gatewood and Harrison after the first was considered quite a haul. Hopefully I am recalling that story right and the players involved. Of course we played that game last year giving 2nd round money to Pratt (6th rounder). 2nd round money or he was going off to Ole Miss.

    Yah, that probably torpedoed any shot of the Brewers holding onto Burnes and going all-in with them all. I think people are really underrating the #34 pick. That is a REALLY good selection to have. That’s basically a first round pick and adds a lot of bonus pool money. Whoever we select isn’t some lottery ticket…that’s a legit prospect with really good potential.

    He wasn’t going to be any more valuable in July and has immense potential to torpedo his trade value. Burnes has regressed year after year and there is always the chance of injury. One year of control just isn’t valuable like it used to be and seems as though there probably wasn’t the market some hoped for. Two weeks before ST and finally the Brewers just had to accept the best offer they could get. Good riddance to him though. Not really a fan of crybaby millionaires.
