  1. Bucks Brewers Badgers BB Badgers FB Packers Future Bucks - Bright Future Brewers - They have enough young pieces to be above .500 in 2 years Badgers FB - I don't think they will fair as well as expansion happens Badgers BB - I don't think they will fair as well as expansion happens Packers - I think Love proves to not be the guy and someone in two years is probably leading this team outside of him...and not in a good way. Veteran fodder as we try to find the answer in the draft. This is kind of a bold prediction as I am not sold on Love either way yet. But odds are always good the QB will be terrible versus a good starter.
  2. Well a $150million payroll average (between the Brewers and whoever comes to town) is $12mil per year in income taxes. $12mil for 20years makes up nearly half of that. Not to mention in 10 years the average payroll for home games will dramatically increase...let alone 20 years from now. $125mil for tickets sales ($43 average) at 2.7mil fans per year. Which again, inflate that ticket price over 20 years too. So yah, the Brewers easily bring in $500mil in economic impact over 20 years. You could probably get to that number through tax revenue projections directly at Am Fam and player/employee income tax. Let alone what is spent/built/done in the surrounding areas. Not sure what the Mariners situation has to do with us.
  3. Into what? Industrial? I mean #1 yikes and #2 those companies will want tax dollars to build there too.
  4. 99% of the reason is the fact of how ticked people are over the last deal. Didn't really have that issue with the Bucks. Though some were pretty upset over the Bucks too...because of how Miller Park got put up.
  5. Do you really think it matters? The people complaining don't read the details...they just start complaining. $1 of public funds and they aren't happy. That being said I think they have done fine communicating it. I mean really, what the public thinks it quite meaningless. Not like we get to vote on it.
  6. I mean, one could use hindsight and make a mighty list of questionable decisions Counsell has made over the years. Of course some of those are serious hingsight and all of them we don't know what the alternative would have resulted in. It is impossible to know to what extent he has hurt the Brewers in the postseason. The reality is, he is the leader and the Brewers have been embarrassing in the postseason. Mostly in cases where they were the favorite or at least an even opponent. Why does he get no blame in the postseason but gets all the praise for the regular season. Postseason is random...to some extent, yes.
  7. That makes no sense. His winning percentage would be no different if a bunch of those games the offense scored more. They wouldn't be wins or losses. It could even be even better because the bullpen might be used less if the offense kept bigger leads.
  8. There is a lot of information on this specific deal etc....yet you decided to use past deals that are in no way shape or form similar. Also, yah, it would be nice if we didn't have to give taxpayer money to million+ dollar companies...but that isn't reality. We all will die with that not being reality, so vent away, but it is what it is. They provide value and they negotiate to get something for that. It is no different than you negotiating for a higher salary or threatening to leave for a different job. You would do the exact same if you owned the Brewers.
  9. Sounds like a lot of work for little usefulness. A) Because it won't cover even a sliver of players. So you will go to look and there is a 90% chance they aren't in there. B) The player I would most want to look up is either a prospect or some random they just promoted that I don't know anything about. I doubt people are going to be itching to write wiki's on those guys.
  10. Money is money. You aren't spending $10mil a year for results that a different guy could do for $3.5mil. It just doesn't work the way you are inferring, at least up to this point. If that was the case large markets would have already tripped over each other to pay some guy a crazy amount. Yet salaries continue to tank as teams realize these managers are mostly puppets. Bruce Bochy is barely on a Top 10 payroll team and he actually has proven success. It is always possible Stearns asks Cohen to just toss unlimited money to get Counsell, but I don't know, maybe Stearns wants to find a guy that hasn't been a proven leader of postseason choke jobs on a yearly basis. Usually, it isn't hard to spend your way into the postseason. The hard part is usually winning when you actually get there. His record in one run games is a direct correlation to his bullpens he has had...notably his closer. The guy had the NL reliever of the year four years in a row (Williams has a strong chance to win it this year). A stretch both of the guys that made up those four awards pitched back-to-back. He basically has never experienced a year where he didn't have a NL Reliever of the year candidate.
  11. I question if the Mets would even go that high. Stearn's is a big analytics guy. Analytics would probably say managers are more or less pretty interchangeable...don't waste money on it. That is a big reason manager salaries have tanked over the years. It sounds like Cohen really isn't that invested into who Stearn's picks to bring in, so it isn't like Cohen is waving a wad of cash trying to get Counsell at all costs.
  12. The stadium district is paying for the new scoreboard. It’s actually been due for a new one since about 20/21. I see looking back they actually had a lengthy debate about whether or not they could charge the stadium district for a second one. Seems as though the answer was no. Probably going to see it fairly soon after these eventually all gets passed in some form.
  13. It will be interesting to see what potential improvements (not just repairs will happen) may transpire. The way attendance has gone, when they do the seating replacement, will we see a more high end area behind home plate? When we replace the outfield door, is it possible for them to be clear…so it feels a tad less like an airplane hanger? Video board needs upgrading…will we finally see a second video along the lines in the terrace level so OF seating has something? Of course you have the ‘Beer District’ task force…but I doubt much comes of that.
  14. In that case I hope they go undefeated. Not sure I would run to trade him for their 2nd, but their 1st rounder in ‘25? Yah…I’d take that easily. Almost surely Top 15 and maybe way higher. I get the logic of picks in the future are worth less…but we very well may not have a QB yet, so we may prefer a guy one year younger in tue long run.
  15. He isn’t giving out team options past 2025, it makes no sense. Guy is going to bank on a decent to good 2025 and parlay it into a nice contract.
  16. He isn’t resetting the market. He likely is going to get $6mil or $7mil max…which is the top of what guy are currently being paid. Since he is considered one of the best in the game…he is simply getting what he should. Resetting the market would be getting $10mil+…I think pigs will fly before that happen.
  17. I mean…this would be an epically terrible contract for the Brewers. Is a team honestly going to give him a $25mil deal for 2025? If not, why are you doing this. After an injury riddled year and then missing the next year completely, I’m not sure he could get much more than like $10mil, but maybe a few teams get crazy offering him a bunch of money. Idk, but $25mil seems nuts.
  18. The Panters top pick? Yah, I would be laughing all the way to the 2024 draft if they offered that up. I don't think it ends up the #1 pick...but it could and even worst case is probably Top 5. Even ignoring the injuries, Watson doesn't wow me that much. For 6'4" the dude plays like he is 5'10"...doesn't use his size to his advantage very often. Dude couldn't even muster an attempt at Love's jump ball to end the game. Speed is nice, but that is a limiting ceiling if he can't improve other parts of his game. He has plenty of time to improve, he is very young...but a potential Top 5 pick? I wouldn't even have to contemplate it.
  19. Too bad NFL is too stuck up with former players or else he would probably do that to. The point is, he really hasn't had the opportunity since then. It also doesn't help that he has two aces and another pretty elite guy in Peralta now. Back then the rotation was kind of 'meh' and it was much more logical to pull them before the other team saw them 3 or even just 2 times through the order.
  20. Corbin Burnes take on Counsell: “He hasn’t tipped his hand. I would find it difficult for him to leave and go somewhere else. Does he take a couple years off to spend time with his family? That is definitely a possibility. Wouldn’t count that out. “I think if talks keep going long enough there is that possibility that a team comes and offers some stupid number. But I think in the end he takes that number and if the Brewers can match it or at least get close, I think he goes back to Milwaukee.” “Just because that’s where he’s been, that’s what he knows…he’s a Brewer down to his core. If I was a GM or an owner, that’s the guy I want running the team. We’ll see. I think he’s in kinda the best spot you can be as a manager.” Burnes thinks Counsell might just be using this offseason as negotiating power...which is pretty plausible take. The only way for him to get a big raise (that he arguably deserves) is by threatening the possibility of leaving. Of course, I have a hard time seeing either side taking this all the way to his contract expiring if both mutually 100% wanted him back...so certainly the desire to leave or take a break must be a strong possibility too.
  21. It would help if the Brewers didn’t suck so much and put Counsell in a situation to even decide to do something like that. I went back through the years…I could not find a semi-relevant spot he could have done something like that outside of 2018. 99% of the time our starter handed a losing game off to the bullpen or the closer blew it anyway. It happened a few times in the NLCS in 2018, though that year was weird and basically had three closers. Jeffress was kinda the main guy by postseason time though. Game 1 - Hader pitched three innings very early in the game Game 2 - Jeffress and Knebel pitched the 7th/8th. Game 3 - Knebel came in during the 6th inning versus waiting for the 7th to use him. Game 6 - Knebel and Jeffress both pitched mid game leading to Burnes taking the 8th/9th. Counsell was protecting his 5-2 lead at the time.
  22. The O-Line has been just fine pass blocking. Whether that is because they throw extra TEs and a RB to chip blocks is fairly irrelevant to Love's inaccuracy. If he has time, which he has, then he should be making pretty decent throws. Now whether they get broken up because the coverage is nuts, is a different story. Statistically, they haven't had a lot of passes broken up though If we are talking about the offense's overall success/effectiveness then, yah, the O-Line isn't very good.
  23. Last offseason, I thought they should have sold off (notably Burnes/Adames). This offseason, I think they should return all the major three. Maybe make an improvement if they are controllable. Why? Because 2/3 of those guys won't have much trade value/interest that is going to make trading them and punting on 2024 worth it. Woodruff is hurt and Adames is coming off a crummy year offensively. Burnes could be traded, but will it be worth potentially throwing away the 2024 season? If 2/3 are seemingly destined to return...just bring back the other guy and have a legitimate shot at a WS title. It seems like a very 2011 season situation where you might just bring back Fielder (Burnes) and take the draft comp. Unless the season implodes and you trade them all in July or so. If the return is big, knock yourself out and trade them...but I don't know that the returns will be that great.
  24. That they basically had zero choice because of media pressure and probably the league wanting them to banish him? Probably even more accurate, the fact they knew the investigation (and his suspension) would drag out so long he would never suit up for them again anyway so why on earth would you keep him around?
  25. Calling it now, Chorizo will be in the best shape of his life come Spring Training.
