  1. Jose Bautista is being paid $18mil this year and has 9 hits total. Eric Thames has a 3 year $16mil contract and has 9 homeruns total.
  2. Interesting what these two are doing post trade. Not saying the trade was bad, but more interesting to look back at some prospects we originally drafted/developed. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hanigmi01.shtml http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=ari
  3. Between Cordell/Brinson/Phillips I don't think we can even give a player a year to figure it out. If you can't figure it out in a half season then you can go to AAA and someone else can get a shot. Doing a 4 player rotation is a good idea if the player to replace(so to speak) is hitting like Santana was a week back(.240/.320/.750). Not great, but maybe not bad enough you want to demote him all together. Of course an injury is inevitable at some point where Cordell/Phillips might get a short stint.
  4. The fact no big time contender would sign him for that might tell you all you need to know.
  5. There is no point to starting these threads already. You can't possibly even guess what his value is because a huge chunk of his potential value lies in the hands of what other players do and who else is available at the time. We won't know any of that until very close to the deadline. Pomeranz seems like a pretty poor comparison. Pomeranz was a highly touted top prospect himself and a big reason why he got a good return. He also had pretty good results after leaving Coors Field. You could make a claim that he was breaking out at the still young age of 27. I don't think one could make the same claim for a near 30 pitcher with nearly 3 seasons of mediocre performance. The right market and Chase Anderson could nab a good deal, but I doubt it and we won't really know until July.
  6. So errors are the deciding factor for defensive ability...Yikes. That's just horribly wrong to say after thousands of innings let alone 7-17 innings.
  7. Is his range out there in LF really that bad, or was he just playing way too deep for some reason? Can't believe how long that ball hung up there without being caught. Jam shot on a homer run hack. Very easy to get a bad jump on it because you're taking a step back. His range is fine as he made a diver last night on a tougher ball. No offense to Braun, but his instincts in the outfield leave a lot to be desired. His ability to read the ball off the bat is what made him so bad in RF. He still has decent speed and routes in LF to make up for it the majority of the time.
  8. Ok I feel we start saying Thames is doing PEDs that is all fine and dandy. But for a coach/player in baseball to say something like that? That is unprofessional and really just not appropriate. You come off as immature and jealous in all honestly cause he smacked your arse for a homer.
  9. Never gotten a hot dog at Miller Park, but I love utilizing some good ole secret stadium sauce.
  10. I got to see this update earlier in the season and I don't get the complaining over it. It is easily...by far...the best concessions for looks, high quality options, and variety I have ever witnessed at a sports stadium. I can't speak for the taste of the concessions, but everything else is top notch about them. My only complaint about them is when I do get food it is typically a brat or something else generic and the taste sucks. When I go to one of the Chicago team stadiums they have hotdog/brat stands where they grill it in front of you and it tastes amazing compared to what I get at Miller Park.
  11. If they are still a mediocre baseball team because they have no pitching then yes. See the thing is we have plenty of pitching prospects, but we lack the ace so to speak. Do you understand how hard it is to actually get one of those? We have the top lefty prospect in the game according to some and he will likely never even sniff ace status. This draft, in my opinion, is pretty bad for ace potential guys. You would be selecting a pitcher an hoping he suddenly blossoms into that kind of talent. I understand the concern we lack that kind of player, but way easier said than done.. If a flashy pitcher makes it to us I would love to take a shot on one, but I am not going to be sad if we go another route. I think there is a bit too much urgency to get pitching prospects amoung fans.
  12. Yah it is easy to be furious they take another OFer until the pick Kendall and he is the next great 6+ WAR offensive force? Will you be too sad then?
  13. Outside of a slight overreaction(seriously 6-8 isn't even that bad): Top prospects =/= MiLB Record Success
  14. I think the PED advantage for pitchers is actually just the hitters coming back down to earth after last decades extreme use of PEDs by hitters. While I am not doubting the more minor PEDs of today's game aren't more helpful for pitchers I am not sure there is a enough use to make such a notable difference statistically across the entire league.
  15. I don't want to get too excited, but it really seems his new vision is helping him so much.
  16. So? The guy is in incredible shape and hasn't played long MLB seasons. If we are concerned with Thames being 30 Braun better get traded ASAP. Expecting Thames to produce the next 4 years doesn't seem far fetched. He reminds me of shredded Giambi who did quite well through that age(though...steroids).
  17. So basically none because steroids aren't medically acceptable as a performance enhancing drug. It is flat out legal to use anabolic steroids in the U.S. let alone by MLB rules for performance. So step one would be making it illegal in the lawbook of the country. Then you would need to get that approved on the MLB level. Good luck with that. You are never going to knowingly allow steroids in the game. Only way to have them in the game is to stop testing and put a blindfold on.
  18. I guess I just don't see the value in having someone else in that spot. Is giving some prospect sporadic ABs going to do anything positive? Heck can it be anything other than negative? I can see some anger with what they did last season(getting a lot of playing time), but this year that really hasn't been the case. I don't see any positive gain from putting a young guy in a bench role.
  19. The Brewers have been burning through the bullpen lately again and that is likely why Suter got called up. If Milone is going to the bullpen Suter will most certainly go back down to make room for Garza.
  20. Not even close. He is downright terrible in the OF regardless of where he is. Terrible jumps and terrible routes.
  21. Don't look at who #1 is though.
  22. You need to earn the right to a full season and that is by at least showing some signs while being competent. Hitting .120 is a joke and he has already had the luxury of still have an every day job despite hitting like a pitcher. We also have the luxury of many good OF prospects at AAA and they should get their chance if Broxton continues to be below average.
  23. I don't think we have much for extra INF depth. Dubon/Diaz are nice, but not all that close. Not to mention the current middle infielders leaving a lot to be desired.
  24. Seems like the typical take. If you think you can compete at least in 2019-2020 no reason to trade him.
  25. It's been 42 ABs and he has 5 hits, last year he was 3 for his first 43. I'm high on Brinson and expect big things from him but 42 ABs is far too soon to write Broxton off. I mean it's possible he's a bust but far from certain yet. Besides I don't think he has enough of a sample size to get much in the winter for him anyway. I'm not saying he's going to be the player we are currently seeing on the field but I'm just not as high on him as some are. I think he can be a solid player out there wish is why I wish he didn't get hurt so we possibly could've sold high on him. As much as we want to see Braun moved, moving a hot hitting Broxton at league minimum is a lot easier and you can acquire very good talent for those types of players. I don't think you would have had many teams offering top prospects for Broxton after last year. Of course it is easy to look at it after the fact.
