  1. I recall several years ago, didn't some of the Brewers complain about the batter's eye? That was fixed, though. Yes there was something about the batter's eye.
  2. You would take him out of the closers role killing the majority of the value you could hope for.
  3. 200 ABs as long as they keep going well. I guess if he keeps mashing like he has of late(4 HRs .360 AVG. last 10 games) it could come sooner.
  4. Still not very fair as any player will prefer the bigger market where they have more $$$$ potential. Way better, but not quite as great if there was a draft in place.
  5. Well to be worse you have to give something up. What if that means Prince Fielder is worth 2 WAR less that year(then translates into future years). Still want the better draft pick? I always care about wins as that typically reflects the production of the team and why wouldn't I want guys like Pina, Villar, Santana, etc, etc, etc performing well causing wins? This team is mostly young controllable guys. Why would I not cheer for Travis Shaw to play well? He is controllable for awhile. Why would I be mad Thames won us a ton of games in April? That seems like a good thing. I hope to heck these guy win a lot of games! And as you mentioned the prospects aren't even here which makes it that much more sweet when we add them.
  6. Agreed and I don't buy that 100 losses is better than 86 losses. Anyone who vouches for tanking and piling up losses never thinks what it takes to lose 100 games. That means A LOT of bad things are happening and we are years away from competing. Travis Shaw is not the difference between 86 losses and 100. He is probably not a 2 game difference maker. I would LOVE for this team to end the season very close to the .500 either direction WAAAY more than I would want to see 90+ losses and a good draft pick. Finding three more players for the next competing team>>>>Losing 14 more games for a slight improvement in draft pick.
  7. Because they want to keep him stretched out to start. He may be the leading legit prospect candidate to get a rotation spot at some point. After continued struggles by some current starters, injuries, or whatever happens on or before July 31st I imagine he gets a chance for some MLB starts before season's end.
  8. I think you are vastly overrating the impact of Travis Shaw in the W/L over the next best player(Perez) who is incredibly similar.
  9. If I told you on May 1st we would be over .500 and tied for first place with the Cubs would you be happy? End of story. As bad as some things have been this is way better than I ever could have imagined.
  10. So basically you want to trade garbage for something that is not garbage? You can't try to compete this year without sacrificing *potential* future value. Not sure why Villar/Braun/Knebel are really being mentioned. Losing those guys would surely hurt this years team which wasn't the point of the thread. I guess you could argue a guy like Brinson/Hader could replace the production, but that is a big ask. Not to mention trading those guys for win now material instead of prospects hypothetically hurts the future. So in simple terms what you are asking is not possible.
  11. And it is a fail besides giving Gyorko a meatball via Feliz. Fail by the pitching coach and the catcher for continuing to request the wrong pitch constantly. So many times they make questionable pitch selections.
  12. Classic lefty right there. After he swung and missed on a similar pitcher I thought in my head "Better not do that again OH"
  13. Brewers likely playing for a piece of first place right now as Brett Anderson dropped a egg tonight for the Cubs. That is weird to say in May.
  14. Look I get Stearns was just trying to piece together a bullpen, but wow what a failure of an attempt so far. This was something Melvin was fairly good at in his time. Not like we didn't want to spend money because we did give Feliz $5.5mil.
  15. I was going to say(before it happened) I hated it solely based on the people behind him. No thanks let him swing away.
  16. Pants shopping is always the best. I have the shorts for a 400 pound man it feels like. If you getting taller I guess you must get fatter too.
  17. And he has the amount of ABs like it is still mid April. Great start, but still small sample warning.
  18. Hader has done nothing but struggle at AAA. He needs to continue to refine his control. Honestly, he's not very close to the majors. Also, all 3 need to continue to build on their inning totals, not limit them. I do think we could see Lopez and Woodruff in a month, but only as starters. We could dramatically improve our pen by staying patient with the guys we have. They all pitched better as last year wore on, and will likely do so again. The only reliever that worries me is Torres, he's older and his curveball looks like mush. However, he doesn't need to pitch high leverage innings, so he's fairly inconsequential right now. Don't really agree Hader has done nothing but struggle, his numbers are not too bad for Colorado Springs Because his fastball can dominate players at the AAA level for the most part. At the MLB level he needs the control because his fastball isn't going to save the day every time he gets behind in a count and needs a strike. Watching his starts most of his success is with his fastball and his off speed stuff is a hot disaster a good amount of the time. If they want to try him as a starter there is a notable gap between him and the MLB level.
  19. Really? Have you seen some of his starts? He hasn't been all that impressive. Very erratic. He could improve on a lot of things in the minors still. Not saying I wouldn't call him up after Super 2 status, but saying he has nothing to prove isn't very accurate.
  20. I think it is just because it is the next major givaway day. If it were sold out or with very few special ticket packages left, I can't imagine they'd be pushing it that hard. Maybe, I really can't remember but they're still advertising the Bobblehead seats being available. I think only 5000 of them are made...people obviously haven't been jumping at the chance to get one. We'll see I guess. Probably the garbage ticket packages they want you to buy people aren't biting on. Making matters worse is the fact tickets are way cheaper on the secondary market compared to paying to buy from the Brewers. Not to mention they are charging you extra money to get the bobblehead($4 up charge). So here are your options for that game(for terrace): 1) $20 to buy from the Brewers no bobble 2) $24 to buy from the Brewers with the bobble . 3) $11 on StubHub(less come close to game day) 4) Sit wherever you want and not be forced to sit in some of the stadiums worst seats 5) Go to any other game for less than half the cost of that game
