  1. Corey Ray is still in extended spring training. I am sure he will be done there fairly soon.
  2. Peralta, Nelson, and Anderson all all intriguing. They could all make watching baseball a lot more fun to watch this year.
  3. If those kind of deals were possible I am sure this thread would have been closed awhile ago.
  4. I am sure Braun doesn't actually think he can play SS.
  5. No idea. Any chance there was a mystery trade for Braun agreed upon to a different team which somehow never got out and Braun vetoed it? Looking back on it he might be referring to the Braves attempt to deal for him. Braves loved Braun and wanted him over Kemp. I recall a rumor that Chipper Jones tried to get Braun to waive no trade clause to go to Atlanta. Talks didn't get far and it was probably because Braun gave a quick no on waiving his no trade clause.
  6. It depends. Do we know that Braun will still waive his 10/5 with no strings attached if we wait until after the 24th to go West? If we're concerned about that day, then maybe we don't know that. His interview seems to clarify a lot surrounding his 10-5 rights. Mainly because Ryan Braun himself doesn't think it means a whole lot. I don't think we would have any problem shipping him out to a West coast contender. Seems the Brewers would like to trade him and Braun would love to be closer to home contending. Though it was reported last month he prefers to play for the Dodgers, staying here is second, and then the other 5 teams he can currently be traded to. That being said I don't think it would be hard to convince him to move to another California team even after he gets 10-5 rights. He is a very interesting case with the 10-5 rights kicking in May 24th where it wouldn't be shocking to see a trade happen there instead of in July. Any history of a player getting traded early to avoid 10-5 rights? On another note I am confused what Braun was referring to when he said the no trade clause was significant last year when "the trade" almost happened. When I think of "the trade" I think of the Dodgers trade, but in that trade his no trade clause was the opposite of significant.
  7. I could also help if need be when someone needs a day off.
  8. His fastball has always been straight like that and sadly I think hitters are very aware. He just does have the arsenal to be good.
  9. Also did the Brewers set up that interview? Seemed like a clear attempt to fluff up some trade value. Also seems there is little rush to make something happen before May 24th
  10. I don't think anyone sees him one way or the other. If we are going to attempt to use current data, Braun's current state health wise, etc. signs would point to a decline as more likely than continued high performance. There is nothing that points to him not declining since it is hard to predict such a thing. A lot easier to predict the apposite.
  11. It actually improved greatly last year when the Brewers stopped being "aggressive" on the basepaths with him. Still way too many blunders though....way too many.
  12. Disagree Briggs. He was exponentially worse at 3B. So much different it was definitely position specific.
  13. Do we even compete over the course of his contract? Is it really that hard to replace him? We have a plethora of OF prospects and young guys on the team now. You could insert one of those guys in two years plus have $20mil yearly to make up for the loss of Braun's production. Pretty sure we could make up for the 2-3 WAR Braun will provide yearly in the last couple years of that contract.
  14. Teams are going to let him do whatever he wants. They will get to add him for nothing. If he insists on batting everyday they will let him do it. There is literally no risk when it comes to him. If he flames out you dump him losing nothing. Now if he could sign for big bucks then it is a totally different story. If we can go out and sign this dude for $5mil and have full control the Brewers would let him do whatever he wants. Pitch? Play first? Be 1st base coach? I will put down that $5mil easy and give him a shot.
  15. The problem I have, even if that is true, is the fact we will likely have someone waiting in the wings that could put up a 2+ war for a fraction of the cost. Do we really want Braun blocking someone younger while Braun likely sits out 20+ games due to injuries and plays average at best defense? As long as he puts up a 3+ WAR it really isn't a big deal. If that changes....ehhh.
  16. You just compared a career all time great DH to an outfielder who commonly finds himself on the injury report that also has two concerning chronic injuries. I am not sure why that would make you feel good. There is nothing to promise that.
  17. Jonathan Villar was servicable at SS and quite a player the way he hit last year. Right now he is struggling heavily with some of the different ways he has to turn DPs and throw in general at 2B that he didn't really do at SS. He racked up quite a few errors, but he had the range/arm to make up for a lot of it.
  18. The umpire has one of the biggest strike zones I have seen in a long long time.
  19. Villar needs to visit the bench and the 1st base coach could use the same treatment as well. What are they doing out there? Sleeping? Part of your job at 1st base is to watch the baserunners and keep them aware of where the infielders are.
  20. Pretty darn close to it if not overpaid.
  21. He could have easily thrown the ball away, too. His momentum was taking him in, it would have been really close to stop, spin and throw to 2nd. Glad he just got the out. Along with all that it looked like to do that it would have been right in the baseline so he would have had to throw over the runner. Which is never a reliable throw to make. Not to mention not sure where Arcia was. He might have needed to hit Arcia on the run
  22. I like the special day uniforms...it is a neat little thing to do. Though I don't really like the thought of them being worn multiple days. Weird. The socks and underbrim design for the ASG....umm.....thanks Marlins. It reminds me of their ugly homerun....thing.
