  1. It's been 42 ABs and he has 5 hits, last year he was 3 for his first 43. I'm high on Brinson and expect big things from him but 42 ABs is far too soon to write Broxton off. Well he has some time to prove himself before Brinson has a chance to come up. The dude has a 13 OPS+ and if that doesn't drastically improve before June ---> [TICKET to Colorado Springs]
  2. I would rather bring up Brinson at the end of May instead of bringing him up at the start of August like they did with Arcia. Brinson is ready for MLB action.
  3. You are trying to compare different sports. That is like saying Thompson never makes deadline deals to improve the team, but Melvin did. Two totally different sports and quite frankly not comparable situations at all.
  4. No one said we would. Just asked when and if Broxton continues his ways Super 2 cutoff is quite likely. If he can't figure it out by then he can go back to AAA like last year.
  5. Honestly makes me think of Keon Broxton quite a bit. 5-tool player, but KKKKKKKKs aplenty through his entire collegiate career with no improvement. A pretty big ceiling if the Ks don't cause too many troubles.
  6. Brinson is going to CF regardless, but right now I will take Santana over Broxton. I actually hope we see Brinson after the Super 2 cutoff. If Broxton/Santana both start hitting that might not happen though. I understand the Super 2 cutoff isn't a known thing, but it can be predicted quite easily.
  7. Not saying he can't get some recognition, but I just don't see it going to a team missing the postseason. I disagree he has any kind of a good chance without a playoff spot. It's a not an award for an incredible year of rebuilding. It will likely go to a surprise playoff teams GM.
  8. Again, 15 games. We did not go from a rebuilding team to a contender over the course of 15 games. Plug in an ace and a solid #3 for what Davies and Milone (a decent Garza?) have been doing and we're a playoff team at this stage. The rebuild is done other than adding/subtracting here and there, now we sit and wait for it to mature. Agreed, I don't think selling major assets(outside of maybe Braun) is something you do anymore and competing might not be far off. We have two league minimum top prospects waiting to be called up. The top lefty prospect in the game and the 4th best OF prospect. We also have two other pretty major pitchers in Ortiz/Woodruff knocking on the door. That is a whole lot of talent about to hit the MLB team and that is before considering our non existent payroll. One could easily make an attempt to compete next year without ruining the future payroll or trading away prospects. Not sure Stearns does that, but I certainly don't think trading Thames is even remotely on the radar no matter what. Because if we don't start making moves this offseason it certainly will happen post-2018. A lot of that depends if this offense is for real or not. This offense could prove to be pretty darn good going into next year.
  9. Absolutely...not. You aren't winning that award without making the playoffs. If this team nabs a wildcard then he would have a shot...but without it no way he is even in the conversation.
  10. I doubt they promote him that fast. Let the poor guy get used to some success for once in his minor league career. Victor Roache is starting out poorly for the Shuckers might be time to cut ties with him when somebody proves worthy of a promotion to AA...them send Harrison to A+. Mind you it has only been 12 games. A couple bad games and his stats are back to average at best.
  11. The way the newcomers have hit makes watching the holdovers suck a little easier.
  12. Holy moly Santana. That was some pretty ugly defense.
  13. What a tag for Villar. Thought he would easily be safe with that throw.
  14. There is almost no way Eric Thames would get DFA'd. At worst he has big time power as a lefty and can play multiple positions.
  15. I don't think baseball fans really care that much more except one slight exception...super stars. The ones who are truly hated and booed are the elite ones that did it. It is just a lot more offensive when someone becomes a face of baseball Braun/A-Rod and helped get there by cheating. I don't think that same offense is taken when it is a lesser player. I mean sure A-Rod/Braun handling their situations quite horribly probably didn't help matters, but I bet both would still be hated/booed way more than other PED users regardless. I don't see what is wrong with MLB caring more about PEDs. The players, owners, and fans all tend to support it overwelmingly. So what if the NFL doesn't care?
  16. Haha seriously people what did you expect? They traded away 3 amazing relievers recently this is exactly what I would expect. Jesh
  17. You can call the Brewers Team Store and get it shipped if they do them.
  18. Really because for the most part I recall horrible contact. Yesterday was soft grounders galore. I'd like to see more solid contact certainly but the leadoff today certainly qualified. For what it's worth he's put the ball in play in 10 of his last 12 ABs even though all were outs. So I feel like he is at least close. I look at Broxton to compare, and I really like Keon, but he just looks lost and overmatched. I don't know if it's just one of those things where he's slumping or if getting hit in the face is in his head. Will say I am not watching today's game and certainly nice to see contact vs. all the aka he was filling up the box score with earlier in the season. Still that contact just has not been great still.
