  1. Agreed. I'll give credit where due. I looked up the umpire. He is fairly new, not eligible for senior discounts at iHop, and doesn't recall the 1908 Cubs. So that explains why he is pretty good.
  2. People who complain about the umpire every night would love this guy. His zone has been textbook and incredibly accurate tonight.
  3. Yah the success offensively behind the plate has been fun, but I am quite confident both are going to regress greatly. Which isn't a big deal because I don't think anyone expected either to be above average. Honestly if either ends up hitting average it will be a win.
  4. Orlando Arcia making Jean Segura from back in the day look like a Silver Slugger. It is hard to watch to be honest when the pitcher puts together similar ABs.
  5. Way too aggresive with 0-2 there. Bandy needs to be smarter than that at game calling.
  6. Posted: April 13, 2017, 5:58 PM Post: Prior to "getting comfortable" he struck out at least once a game. In the last 5 games he has only two Ks(one game) and has hit 6/7 of his homers on the season
  7. The throw wasn't perfect though. It bounced in such a horrible spot and caused Bandy to get it too far back. Trying to pick and tag that in front of the plate would have been one heck of a play. Right, but fielding it behind the plate on the long hop gives you no chance at the out. He has to go do or die on the tough hop in front of the plate. 10% chance for an out is better than 0% End of the day I don't really care because he was going to be safe regardless. Not going to lose sleep over it.

  9. Well of course you will trade average-like players if we can get more Hader/Brinson in the system. I just don't think getting into those dream scenarios is all that likely. Are teams really going to sell the farm for Wily Peralta? Anyone who started arbitration this year or before I probably wouldn't be too scared to trade for a good offer, but guys controllable 2020 or beyound I would want a pretty phenominal offer. Those guys can be veteran cogs in a few years for us. Of course this depends largely on a player by player basis and we are talking about this very generically as a whole.
  10. In case this is the last day take it all in while it lasts: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1TSNO_enUS464US464&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=nl+central+standings
  11. Last I checked KBO does test for banned substances. Not sure if they started HGH testing yet.
  12. I don't think I ever said we should trade the farm etc. etc. All I said is we should not be looking to trade every single thing that does good. Every single player that has broken out so to speak over the last year has a trade thread. Villar does, Thames does, all our controllable starters do, Broxton does...I mean that is a bit ridiculous. When do we think controllable piece for the next contending team and not trade bait? By all means if we get some ridiculous trade offer for PeraltaNelson/etc. and net an Addison Russell go for it. However for some ok deal? We have some big time prospects coming up this year and more 3 years from now to keep things going when our veteran pieces are moving out. Add in some other guys along the way from other means and you can put together some solid teams. The rebuild is over and this team is on the rise whether it continues to show in the W/L columns. Unless you get a fantastic trade offer keep anyone controllable 3+ years.
  13. If these guys keep it up we shouldn't be thinking about trading them cause we will be competing and really should be looking to do that next year. At some point you gotta stop trading every person who isn't controlled 5+ years. If this team is flirting with .500 at the end of the year it is time to consider adding guys from outside the organization and stop trading them away.
  14. I mean if he got that big using steroids it would be some serious stuff. I am not sure with the current testing he could hide such a thing as I am pretty sure they do HGH testing now. I know what you are saying, but we won't know unless he gets caught.
  15. Yes, but considering his high age at that point and how high the QO would be I doubt it would be worth it.
  16. I don't find beat reporters to be great at giving out rumors. For instance the Brewers local reporters never have an inside scoop. Not sure the history for the Dodgers reporter, but it is surely a case by case thing with the reliability of those guys.
  17. The Dodgers want to hit better against lefties badly and that is why they keep coming back to Braun. Honestly I think both want a deal to happen, but neither wants to be the first to blink.
  18. Baseball reference lists him as being arbitration eligible after his 3 year contract(with his player option possible too). If I remember right that is accurate. I don't think this team will take till 2021 to be a contender. I get he isn't young, but jesh we can't keep trading every player who doesn't fit the perfect model. If we do that we will have nothing. We will have to keep people who may hit FA early in our contending window. That is why it is important to keep finances in check and keep the young depth rolling in.
