  1. Pitching to Russell the first time was gutsy. However after he nearly hits it out the first time you don't pitch to him the next time with the pitcher on deck. Easily the most idiotic managerial decision I have seen in a very long time. That is not only the kind of decision that puts you down another two runs, but one that swings momentum. Whoops.
  2. You should care. It is a season of 162 games that typically comes down to less than 3 games apart in the standings. "Who cares" turns into just missing the postseason real quick. We can't settle for anything less than perfection or try getting as close to it as we can. If ditching Ed Sedar means 8 extra runs we better be figuring out how to do it.
  3. This one is debatable. Arcia might get there but I wouldn't bet the rent on it. If I had the option of Arcia or Russell I would be skipping all the way to the bank with Russell.
  4. If that was the case they probably would have given us Gallo over Brinson like the Brewers wanted. I think the problem is the fact the Rangers have always wanted young controllable pitching for him and have yet to get that. No chance Guerra gets him.
  5. Because you can bank on months of rest in just a few weeks. Short rest certainly is not a recipe for success over 162 games.
  6. One can overcome the Cubs because they will have down years and won't have the uber cheap talented team they have now forever. Will they be perennial winners for a long time? Very likely. However their ability to have a 97+ win team every year will not be sustainable and eventually they will have 86-94 win teams that can be overtaken in the standings.
  7. Yah it seems a tad strange they wouldn't just pile them together. Some years this could be way too large of an advantage for a losing team. What if there is an international talent that is a worthy Top 10 pick? That means some team gets the #1 pick and another Top 10 talent? Mmmm...thinking they should just be in the June draft with stateside players. On the bright side it should help teams rebuilding. Being one of the five worst teams for 3 years or so will amass an incredible talent pool with your top pick in each of those drafts alone. I am just glad it won't big big markets scooping up all the good players non stop now.
  8. I understand your overall point, but Gomez was quite the heralded prospect back in 2007-2008. Gomez was ranked in the #50-60 range during those years. My comparison was Gomez to Delmon Young, in response to the posters criticism of Brinson for a Top 75 prospect, in that Gomez was "ranked" much lower than Young but ultimately turned out to be the better player (career 23.8 bWAR to 2.5 career bWAR for Young). Sorry if that wasn't clear. The confusion came when you said you would trade Brinson for a Top 75 3B prospect, but failed to mention you don't like Brinson that much and think he is in that Top 75 range too. That being said it's fun to look in retrospect at prospects, but in reality it isn't that easy to predict fate. The amount of GMs that would have traded Young for Gomez would have been 0/30 and the amount that would have traded an elite prospect for Lucroy would have been 0/30. What you want to do would be great if it was something one could predict, but one can't. You would look like a genius if you somehow did it, but if that's how you run your organization you won't have a job very long as your success rate would be rock bottom.
  9. -Burke Badenhop Actually it does Burke. Stop complaining you sound like an idiot. It's a business and always a business. You got $1,000 because at the time you were worthless and a massive long shot to ever give your team any value in the future. Tim Tebow got a lot without proving anything because he doesn't need to. He can already make the Mets money. How such a concept stings you or offends you is kind of sad. It is pretty basic. If you wanted to be offended be offended he has an AFL roster spot. That's the only thing I can see a player being upset about.
  10. I am confused about his power description on the report. So he currently has homerun power but it projects as double power in the future? How does that work? Gaps are deeper at MLB parks vs. where he has played so far? He definitely feels more like a gap power/doubles guy. I still envision him as a 15HR guy on average.
  11. Probably wanted this: https://mobile.twitter.com/BobbyDeMuro/status/788194011999723520/video/1
  12. Just out of curiosity, what makes you think this? I don't think he will outright dominate to have that chance to speed through the minors. You watch him and you can see he still struggles from time to time. His stats were solid in Wisconsin, but that kind of line probably isn't going to make him get aggressively promoted as he moves up. We will know half way through next year for sure what kind of timeline he is on. If he does good enough to get promoted to AA he could get to the majors a lot faster...however an entire year at A+ probably means 2.5 years away at the least. I know that sounds like a "duh" analysis, but really it comes down to how he does against a true challenge in A+ ball.
  13. I agree that he has a lot to prove, but he can't "hit well against someone who can actually challenge him" until the Brewers put him at a level full of guys who can actually challenge him. Well yah...I wasn't claiming he should be sent back to A-ball or anything.
  14. Maybe Oklahoma City? Maaaybe San Antonio. Any other place is assured failure. Indianapolis/Charlotte it is. Expansion seems a lot harder than a lot make it seem. What team is going to happily let a team right up close to them? Even with the two best possibilities the Cubs and Braves are going to have huge fits if it is proposed.
  15. The real shame is the fact those high rates don't shrink over time. I understand the rates are high due to where you live(is what it is), but if one goes 5,10, 15+ years without any accidents there should be notable declines in the payment. Instead its ridiculously high and can only go up.
  16. So you would trade a Top 15 prospect who is possibly one of our very very few star potential players for a #50-#75 prospect just because they are at a position of need? Despite such player probably being even less of a sure thing and possess a ceiling half that of Brinson? I also don't get the attention to LHH. We have plenty of those coming through the ranks I don't think we need to downgrade to find one. If we made such a trade my heartbeat may quite frankly stop.
  17. I like Erceg as much as anyone, but the guy destroyed some rookie ball talent and then held his own against some A-ball pitchers. Tell me when he actually hits well against someone who can actually challenge him. He is a college bat that smacked around a bunch of guys inferior to him. I liked what I saw from him last year, but I don't think he is a fast riser. Id still think he is 2.5 years out minimum.
  18. Fans mostly. There are enough teams that don't draw and get horrible support. Believe me I understand why the players and owners want it. I also understand it will happen so enough, but I don't like the idea when I have a hard time seeing any new city having fans come out in masses. Maybe Montreal/Vancouver or some other major international city could do it, but I doubt it.
  19. Sounds like having a super competitive team when an expansion draft comes around is a total nightmare. Can you imagine being the Cubs and only allowed to protect 10 players? Yikes. A big reason why I don't want to see expansion. We don't need it, the support won't be there, and some teams will be hurt pretty bad losing valuable players.
  20. I don't think we see the DH change this time around, but it is in the near future. Enough of the two leagues playing entirely different. Since there is no way they drop the DH its time to just adopt it in the NL. Its problematic for small markets, but it is what it is.
  21. Yah sorry the Dodgers are a contending team. Not only is that seriously hurting the entire point of trading for Braun(boost the offense), but they have no back up plan if they were to trade Grandal. The only reason they are trading Puig is because he is expendable, but still has value. I bet a lot of people would prefer Grandal, but it isn't happening.
  22. You are going to upset people and not everyone is going to be happy. That pretty much goes for just about anything the Brewers do. This has little to do with buying less bobbleheads and all to do with a smart way to get people to buy more stuff inside the stadium if you ask me. Lower the amount of bobbleheads and people afraid of not getting one will line up and get in the stadium early. Longer you are in the stadium(especially before the game) the more money fans will spend(especially families). It's impossible to please everyone and the sooner you realize that the faster you will start raking in the dough.
  23. No Ed Sedar is bad...really bad. Compare Sedar to the other teams 3B coach we see on a daily basis. I can't recall the last time I saw us throw out a guy by half a baseline. However Sedar does it on a weekly basis(on average...maybe less). I actually like Ed Sedar's/Brewers aggressive approach. However sometimes you know Sedar is going to send a guy and he is going to be out even before the player rounds third. It would take a throw to the backstop to be safe. I also think he is much too aggressive with one out. If there is one or no one outs you better be confident your guy can make it home. Too many times we send guys who are easily out or it is bang bang. In my opinion that isn't acceptable unless there are two outs. Too many boneheaded decisions and out of a 3B coach it is not acceptable.
  24. Expansion won't happen in the new CBA. They refuse to go in depth with it until the A's and Rays get new stadiums.
  25. Many teams do giveaways that aren't promising every fan one. I believe the world keeps spinning, but don't quote me. Cubs typically only give out 10,000 and they are not the only team to do so. I think the marketing team knows what they are doing. People who buy tickets because it is a giveaway day will make sure to get there before they run out. Those who don't get one likely didn't really care if they got one or not anyway. This is a pretty big non issue.
