  1. Ugh. I speculated that somewhere else... hopefully nothing too serious. Hmm well it can't be a current concern because I heard he was off to the T-Rats. Must be a long term issue.
  2. TheCrew07 was quite spot on in my opinion.
  3. All it takes is for one or two GMs to value him high and it is very possible there are a couple. While I agree with how you value him, it doesn't mean all people do. That is true and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these SS desperate teams make a stupid mistake, but I haven't seen much positive remarks for Segura in awhile. People are starting to come to the conclusion that this is really what Segura is and *potential* doesn't really exsist past what he currently does.
  4. They are comparable players(offensive output wise)...except Puig is A LOT cheaper and A LOT younger. The decline Puig has had over the last 3 years consistently is a bit concerning, but I would still prefer that over an injury prone Braun who is getting old. The offensive gain going from Puig to Braun is debatable now and questionable move forward. I don't see where the Dodgers would consider such a trade.
  5. Scouting reports says he has really good defense...possibly the best all around defensive SS in MiLB right now. That alone was going to get him to the majors. Now it looks like he can be a guy who hits for a nice .300ish average with some pop in his bat for doubles/some homeruns. His defense and well rounded offensive game can make him one of the best shortstops in the game for quite awhile. His floor is better than Segura is right now. He shows to be even slightly competent with the stick at the MLB level and he will be one of the best SS in the game. Alcides Escobar is the second best SS so far and he doesn't even provide much on offense. Of course he could flop and be like Segura with better defense...ahh prospects.
  6. Lets stop calling his contract team friendly...currently there is nothing friendly about it and we don't know if it ever will be. Singleton may take years to figure it out if he ever does. Wouldn't be surprised if he is a 27-28 year old breakout guy making that team friendly deal too late to cash in on. Sure he was once around the 25th ranked prospect, but he then dropped heavily pre-2014 which then was followed by 300 brutal at-bats at the MLB level. BA had him as the #82 prospect pre 2014 and others floated him around #50. AJ Reed will be that high if he continues to hit at AA. As a lot on here like to say go for the prospects before they are big. AJ Reed is one of those guys. Glad Singleton is putting up some nice numbers in AAA...on his THIRD go around at that level. I hope he could be putting together some decent stats at that point. The Astros willingness to trade Singleton shows you who they would rather have at 1B long term. You don't go around dangling former top prospects that are MLB ready unless they have issues. Maybe saying he could headline a Gomez trade is being a bit bullish on my part, but I am still taking him over Singleton without much thought.
  7. I would prefer not to do a one for one trade either. Assuming Syndergaard and Arcia are considered similar value I would want to feel like I am winning the deal if a team is coming to me looking for a trade. Still if the Brewers were offered Urias, Matz, or Syndergaard etc. I would find it difficult to say no. The Brewers could have the long term ace they have never had in my life. While Sheets was stellar he was short lived.
  8. Jon Singleton has twenty times as much value as AJ Reed. I will take AJ Reed...I won't be blinded by a contract that *could* be a steal. I don't think the Brewers need his awful batting average or strikeouts. That is part of the problem they have now.
  9. Syndergaard is awesome. The problem is that the Brewers aren't going to the World Series in the next 2-3 years, so then you are only getting 3 years of Syndegaard on a playoff contending team. This team needs a full & complete rebuild, top to bottom including the front office. No way do I trade Arcia for a pitcher. I think it is easy to say no now, but in 4 years everyone will be crying how we have no ace. That or when we trade the farm for one or spend millions in FA to have one. I guess I see where trading our top prospect is hard, but I don't think you can downplay having an ace for 6 years on the cheap and 3 years while contending. Syndergaard could easily become the greatest pitcher in Brewer's history. That being said they are both incredible talents and it is nice to have one of them.
  10. I don't think you can predict if a player will have growing pains or not. Bottom line Arcia has nothing to prove in the minors and teams looking to trade for him will move him straight to the MLB roster. If the Brewers have him yes everything you said is true. He should stay in the minors till sometime next year in the second half.
  11. No way they get AJ Reed in a Parra trade. Reed is mashing and scouts are extremely high on him. If they want AJ Reed they would have to take him as a centerpiece in a Gomez trade(that doesn't also include Appel). He mashed in A+ and still excelling in AA(small sample size). AJ Reed plus a couple minor pieces for Gomez would be a nice trade for the Brewers. That is if the Astros even want to trade him.
  12. Segura didn't have a good year, he had two insane months before he fell back down to earth.
  13. I really don't mind if the Brewers play themselves out of a top pick because they should have never been in such a situation. They aren't that bad so I don't know why everyone is so concerned with them ending up with a pick outside the Top 5.
  14. Not the first time I have seen that. Rarely do you get a call if you drop it like that.
  15. He's also 23 and put up a .280 AVG and .940 OPS in AAA this season with 47 BB to just 63 K (313 PA). Not to mention the incredibly team-friendly contract. I'm not settling for Singleton as a centerpiece of a Gomez trade, but that would be a huge coup for a guy like Parra. To the point that I don't think it is remotely realistic. There is nothing team friendly about his deal until he does something. Right now it was an impressive waste of $10mil. Yes he is young...I get that, but he has been incredibly bad in the MLB. He got an extended chance and was brutal. Singleton for Parra would be an interesting trade idea. I personally wouldn't want anything to do with it, but I think the value is in the same ballpark. Like always hard to say if this is good value for Parra. Sadly I don't get to hear Doug Melvin's phone calls, but from rumors it sounds like the interest is pretty high in Parra.
  16. [sarcasm]Yes just what the Brewers need. A guy who hits .170 and strikes out in nearly 50% of his at bats. Maybe if he improves we will have a guy who hits .210 and only striking out in 40% of his at bats! That would compliment his below average defense really well.[/sarcasm] The Brewers can get something better than that gigantic problem. He has serious hitting issues.
  17. Gomez/Segura for Wheeler/Nimmo Someone find the accept button I will take that gamble. Yikes, no thank you... Would not accept that package just for Gomez. The way I value Gomez/Segura I think it would be a fair trade. Segura is nothing more than an average SS and Gomez is a nice player for 1.5years. I don't put a lot of value into Segura so to me this trade is mainly for Gomez. Maybe a couple players from the low minors balances it out. Of course who knows how other teams value them and I don't have the luxury of seeing Wheeler's medicals. Which obviously would be a huge part to a possible trade. If you still put a bunch of stock into Segura that probably seems like a bad trade for the Brewers. That and if you don't like guys who had TJS. (I'd like to add it isn't a trade I would jump all over...I kinda made it seem like that. But I would be more than happy with that trade if nothing better was being offered.)
  18. There is a big difference between a bunch of trades that probably won't happen and ridiculous fantasy land trade ideas. This is apart of the later. I don't think I am being negative or a debbie downer stating the obvious.
  19. Gomez/Segura for Wheeler/Nimmo Someone find the accept button I will take that gamble.
  20. Any Lucroy extension is a bad extension in my mind. He is a player you trade and don't look back. If his offense declines he will become an average catcher really quick. I don't want to pay an average catcher $15mil. We need to trade him as that will actually help the next contending team unlike having an overpaid catcher.
  21. The Brewers trading for a lower potential prospect who is MLB ready just to retool makes zero sense. Orlando Arcia is MLB ready himself judging by the vast interest from teams looking for a SS. If that's what they wanted to do they would dump Segura and play Arcia.
  22. I'd be surprised if they don't protect Roache. I bet some team would take a flyer and add him. Whether he would survive a whole season is another story, but I wouldn't take a chance. Getting a little risky when guys are in AA.
