  1. Luis Sardinas is NOT eligible. He wasn't even a prospect when the Brewers acquired him.
  2. I wouldn't say that is totally true. The interest level is fueled by a couple things. One being whether the prospect is MLB ready and if a team thinks that can help right away. The other thing is the odds a team would trade such a player. If you are dying for an ace there is no way you trade away a Syndergaard etc., but if you already have a strong pitching staff in the majors/minors that is someone you could expend if it returned am elite hitting prospect. It becomes interesting in the Brewers case because they develope hitters very well, they have some depth at SS, and can't develop an elite pitcher to save their lives. This is a situation where the dominos could fall for such a trade to happen. The difference between this and the "everyone is interested in Trout" is the fact teams are probably more serious on getting Arcia and see it as realistic. Obviously everyone wants Trout, but it is never going to happen.
  3. I am sure the Padres have asked...but huge interest means every team looking for a SS has probably asked.
  4. So much negative attitude when Arcia could nab us one of the best up and coming pitchers in the game. Seeing most Brewers fans complain about never having a cheap ace that is a bit surprising. I would think people would welcome such an idea. What is so bad about trading one high risk asset for another high risk asset? Sure Arcia is a great piece, but so would the player(s) in return. Arcia could easily flame out and never be much. The Brewers would be stupid not to listen to offers that include elite pitching prospects. Some of you are acting like they are looking for MLB talent...I seriously doubt that is the case unless it features some really good controllable players. If teams are calling about Arcia they are most likely competing and looking to trade prospects. Those teams want to put him on their MLB roster and take over at SS.
  5. Only way Brewers trade Arcia is if someone offers them a comparable elite prospect(Urias, Giolato) plus more. I can't really see them trading him for another offensive prospect unless it is an amazing talent. It isn't that crazy to trade him if they are getting a future ace plus more value.
  6. Umm I am going to assume you are serious as there is no blue text...but anyway you should go watch it. Come back and tell me what you thought. Spoiler it didn't go over well in my mind.
  7. What realiable source thinks that? Just some fans? If a player is being pulled from a game it means a trade is very close and this time of year everything slips through the cracks before it happens. Not only that but a trade of that magnitude would be rumored right from the get go. It would be mind blowingly shocking if the Brewers were to trade Lucroy before anyone else....it would be shocking if he is traded period this deadline.
  8. Gomez/Lucroy/Lind will never go in a deal together. No team would trade the amount of prospects it would take to facilitate such a deal. That is if they even had the prospect power to offer the necessary guys. The above offer would a horrible deal for the Brewers. Very rarely is packaging guys a good idea.
  9. If that is true(I never saw such article) I am guessing his wasn't thrown out because synthetic testosterone was present. Which for all the clean guys was surely not there.
  10. -Why should the Brewers not trade Gomez? What attendence will he improve in a wasted season? He will be traded this off-season at the latest. -What fan buys lots of Segura merchandise? Who won't go to a game if they trade him? -Same goes for Lind. How will keeping them make Lucroy feel better. He wants to win...not have these guys around. If they aren't winning it is alll the same. Not to mention who even said the Brewers even want him after his current contract. My bets on they won't even consider it.
  11. I aggree there aren't many reasons to trade a player with over 2 years left on his deal when they are a pretty big player, but after you get to two years you really must consider trading that guy. Especially when they are going out of their prime, you won't be competing, and you don't want to resign them. Once you get to two years you start heading into a window where a major injury or regression could be costly/risky. Carlos Gomez might be a good example. He has regressed a touch and that could hurt his value. Do you trade him with slightly less value or do you hope he regains some for an off-season trade? What if he gets worse?...now you are in big trouble. I'd even seriously consider trading Lucroy now if a crazy offer came in...even if I could theoretically get that same offer 6-12 months from now. It doesn't take long for a catcher to fall of the planet and I'd rather not play with fire. Baseball is a business and that is one of the very tricky decisions. By trading him now you lose out on a lot of money coming in from what that player sold(tickets/merchandise/etc.), but you don't risk them getting injured or regress which would hurt the return on a trade.
  12. I'd say no. The list of call ups to make the ASG game is pretty darn small. In the past those guys were hurt for lack of MLB experience, you would have a month and a half of time in AAA max, you would be long gone from AAA when that game is going on so they would likely not consider you. I can't see how it is possible.
  13. The Greinke trade I was thinking of a trade of Segura, Hellweg, +another piece. So that is close.
  14. Well FIP is only going to tell us his true performance right now. What I am talking about is the regression past that. FIP won't consider a crazy low BABIP, how he usuallly walks more guys, or the lack of scouting reports on him. That's the real concern for me. He is always going to outplay his FIP. I expect him to walk a lot of guys which will spike up his FIP, but he will make up for it in double plays/ground balls. Now he won't outplay it over a whole run, but a .3-.5(maybe more) gap would not be shocking. As you said the sample sizes are small, but he does have quite a few years in the minors. While not the most accurate translation to MLB we can't be perfect. If only we knew how everyone would end up.
  15. To my understanding a groundball pitcher will typically have a higher BABIP. Since grounders go for hits more often than fly balls. A lot of elite pitchers are pretty extreme fly ball type guys. It's also important to note that much off .300 can be a red flag for pitchers...but not unheard of. Obviously there are a lot more factors, but more likely than not Jungmann is not going to be a .250 BABIP pitcher or even close for that matter. Here is a good read for anyone needing some knowledge on BABIP: http://www.fangraphs.com/library/pitching/babip/
  16. I, unlike many people, want to see the Brewers do good and win some games. While the draw of a Top 5 pick is great I think a lot of people are forgetting what has to happen for that to come to fruition. Most notably poor play from a team that will mostly be young guys. I'd rather see Jungmann, Nelson, Fiers, Peralta, Davis, etc play well and have a 8-13 pick if that means our young guys played well. I think that would be better for the future.
  17. No, but there is a GM game out there that I enjoyed a bit and you can play The Show as a GM too just simulating. Managing idk...maybe too boring. Isn't there a coaching game for NFL?
  18. Their stats come out pretty even. I'd take Braun over track record and the fact he is considered better against both handedness. Joc got starting nod because he was the next guy with the most votes.
  19. I am sure there is something degrading about going out and getting rocked every start in Colorado. Knowing that your curve just isn't going to work etc. Very crummy situation the Brewers will have to live with another season.
  20. Seems like a lot of good landing spots for Gerardo Parra. I think he should be a good grab for a team that wants to add, but not go after a big time player. Baltimore seems to fit that bill and the prospects you mentioned are all reasonable targets. The way Parra keeps hitting a nice upside player like Sisco might be attainable. Would not be too sad at that return.
  21. Can we bring up Arcia just to watch him play defense? I heard it is quite the treat.
  22. On another note the man with the opposing vote in his appeal case(who was furious at the time) had to approve Braun for the ASG. The commissioner must approve any replacements. Probably left a sour taste in his mouth having to do that.
  23. No the faulty handling probably did not do anything to the sample. The man followed protocol if there wasn't a FedEx open...however there was one open so Braun was let off. The sample collectors fridge does not have magical powers. Braun's sample failed because he in fact took banned substances. He would not have gotten the same 50 games. MLB made sure the rest of the suspensions could be served in the 2013 season so they could start 2014 fresh. Braun was getting a bigger suspension no question about it. His mistake was taking banned substances and deciding to try to hide what he did wrong. I am not saying he is a super villian. Every person to ever test positive probably would have done the same. That sure as heck doesn't make it right though. Braun deserves everything that has come from what he did and I am sure he would agree. I don't have much against Braun at this point. Personally I just prefer him not to represent our team because of his bad image...thats all. I don't think that is an unreasonable opinion.
  24. I'd be curious why he and some others are ranking Harrison high, but Gatewood low. I though most were ranking them together or close to it last ranking. I think Harrison has a higher ceiling, but Gatewood has at least had some production
  25. Of course. I just wanted to counter some of the comments I have seen. I have seen one person call him a possible ace, many consider him a top 3 prospect, and outside of this forum many are calling him a future all star. I think much like Fiers people need to maybe not get those kind of aspirations. A lot of people want to connect his draft scouting report to these successes and he is nothing like that Jungmann anymore. Good point on the groundballs, that is no fluke. If he can locate his pitches that sinker plus his height is going to create a lot of ground balls. Big part of his success. I know some people don't get excited about mid rotation guys, but that is one less $10mil annual contract and another possible Garza/Wolf/Suppan avoided.
