  1. I am just happy we won't have a lone representative...one is just embarrassing.
  2. I'd take any SSS splits in Colorado Springs with a serious grain of salt, considering how tough it is to spin any breaking balls in the environment. [sarcasm]Are you saying I should cancel my Elian Herrera jersey order and the near 1.000 OPS isn't going to translate?[/sarcasm]
  3. I got the understanding they want him running the drafting/development. I also took the part of him being early into his job as a hint they don't think he is ready to be a GM. So probably not the best option.
  4. 1. No I wouldn't have appealed in the first place if I intentionally used banned substances. I don't get what you are trying to say. 2. Umm OK? Is that suppose to mean something? Pretty sure he did that to have the lesser suspension. 3. Volunteered? Are you serious? He took that suspension because fighting it would likely have ended up in a 100 game suspension or more. 4. A-Rod and Braun are both hated more and deserve to be. They both did more than cheat and I can't blame anyone who doesn't want them at the ASG
  5. I guess I could back track and say he does have a third pitch. Not a great third pitch, but a more of a change of pace pitch to keep hitters on their toes. His sinker is his calling card, curve, and then his straight fastballs. 2 steamer/4 steamer Sinker Curveball I think what we are seeing right now is his ultimate ceiling if he had everything go right for him. If he were to be a consistent pitcher and have everything working for him, which is a 3.25 ERA type pitcher. However, with his height I just don't think it is realistic to expect him to have his command consistently enough to warrant a ERA that low. Hence why I went with more of a mid 3 ERA for his ceiling. You never know though. He wouldn't be the first guy to just suddenly figure out what he is doing once he makes the show. The defense behind him could also play a big factor in his long term success. A 6'6" starter is always very attractive...Even more so when half your games are at Miller Park.
  6. I did mention I thought he could be a solid mid rotation guy if he found a way to control the baseball and add a third pitch. I also called his pitches average in scouting terms...Which would be a lot more strict than what you are probably thinking. He has two quality pitches no doubt about it. Neither is going to blow hitters away though. I'd like him to do something similar to Jimmy Nelson and add that third pitch. If he could do that I think his outlook/potential would look a lot better. I'd also like to wait and see if he can really keep up the good control/location. That is a ton to ask out of a guy of his height. Right now I'd probably say he ends up a 3.50-4.20 ERA pitcher. Mainly hinging on whether or not he can utilize his height consistently(has so far.) He is an exciting arm though and cool to have a guy come up dominating like he has. Watching him as the season progresses should be one of the more interesting things to watch.
  7. I know we will be moving him soon but I will miss him big time. Don't forget that should pave the way for a Logan Schafer return!!!
  8. But it can't be fun for him to be playing in his home town's park and get booed like he is every time he goes up to the plate... I doubt he'd ever get voted into another all-star game again. It was just so stupid of him to lie about it. Often it is the lies and cover-up that is the bigger sin that the original infraction. Even lying aside I think his high profile would still keep him out. Something about being Jhonny Peralta vs. Ryan Braun makes it better to cheat.
  9. The chatter on Jungmann is starting to increase on Jungmann so I think he deserves his own thread. Many are wondering how he is doing it here, but had a sky high ERA in AAA. Calm that excitmemt because he will come back down to earth eventually(not to AAA numbers): 1. His walk rate is not very characteristic of him. He has been at 2.35/9 here and for most of his career he has sat at 4.0/9. He has battled in a lot of 3 ball counts over his MLB starts and it wouldn't be surprising to have his walk rate go up some. 2. Opposing teams are batting .252 on balls in play...that is not going to stay that low. Those are dominant cy young level numbers and Jungmann should regress to at least his .300 minor league numbers eventually. 3. He is only a 2 pitch pitcher right now. Both of his main offerings are pretty average so he is going to have to figure out a 3rd pitch eventually. He has hardly thrown his change up to this point. Long term this is a big cause for concern. People can't forget the fact that Jungmann has never been that impressive throughout his MiLB career. He has the chance to be a solid back end of the rotation pitcher or a mid rotation guy if he harnesses better control and a 3rd pitch. This is no knock on Jungmann, he has done a lot of things to like. I have been quite impressed with him even taking the above into consideration. That doesn't change the fact he is playing over his head and taking advantage of the lack of knowledge on him though. (Feel free to use this thread for anything related to Jungmann)
  10. Going to be really interesting what they end up doing. That team to start the year could likely have a boatload of prospects if they skip extended spring training for some guys plus guys who will move on from rookie ball all together. I might make my summer trips to Appleton a couple times instead of one single trip to Milwaukee(live up by Eau Claire in the summer). Would be great to interact with the young prospects etc.
  11. Tulowitzki took Gordon's spot. Tulo took the spot of Holliday LaMaheaui or whatever in for Gordon
  12. Speaking of the All Star Game there are two spots needing to be filled now I think. Holliday and now Gordon.
  13. Fair enough, but if that's the case then Melvin should cross you (or the Mets) off his list of trade possibilities, not lower the asking price for Segura. To be fair we don't really know what the true asking price is. If I had to guess they are probably looking for at least one Top 100 prospect(or something similar in value in the lower minors). The Mets are likely the best fit mid season. They are the type of team that would trade for a not so clear improvement now with their mind really on the future. A team really looking to make a push this year won't have as much interest. They probably are looking for a clear upgrade.
  14. We can slice this any way you prefer, but all things considered Segura still ranks near the bottom of all MLB SS starters. What contending team wants to give up a Top 50 prospect(possible game changer type player) for a SS that is likely a downgrade or no improvement? Why gamble on a player that has shown nothing in 3.5 years at the MLB level? I think I would just gamble on my Top 50 prospect and keep my current SS who is probably just as good.
  15. What's weird is that every scouting report I've read about him is absolutely glowing. He might be one of those "change of scenery" guys that just puts it all together on another team. Most people think he is best suited to go oppo and just slap the ball around. He wasn't doing that last year and started just slapping it to RF this year. Problem is he has no power in doing so and the results have been no better. He also doesn't walk a lot. So at the end of the day he needs to hit .300 or better just to have a decent stat line. That's a lot to ask for.
  16. I have to laugh. Jean Segura apparently has "tremendous value" at 25, but Scooter Gennett is a part time player at best at 25. When was Segura so highly touted? When we traded for him he was just inside the Top 50 rankings. While not bad that isn't anything super special. Segura is never going to be a special player. He lacks power and doesn't have the OBP skills to make up for it. I just fail to see where he has room for improvement. He looks exactly the same as he did from day one.
  17. It is when a player has faced a platoon advantage 88% of the time. He is a part time player at best. I think he is pretty average all things considered. And this is coming from someone who really isn't a big Gennett fan. He really isn't a hole. Something you would love to improve if you could though. You gotta remember 2B is a pretty weak MLB position.
  18. Gennett is no franchise player, but he is a decent role player. You can't have all stars everywhere. To say he is a substantial hole is far from the truth. Also Segura has tremendous upside? I would love to see where you have seen that. I haven't seen that since early 2013 and it was not sustainable. If someone offers a decent prospect or two the Brewers should go laughing all the way to the bank.
  19. I assume you meant "after the All-Star break." If he really meant "until after the July 31st trade deadline," then I'd be furious. Haha yes. Too many articles being read at once.
  20. Wow Nelson has had the command working for him almost the whole night. Hitting the corners and creating lots of ground balls/weaker contact. Too bad Perez screwed him big time.
  21. Jeez you would think they could have a decent bullpen once in a blue moon. Every year it is the same problem.
  22. Well I was going to just watch a few innings and go to bed, but you can't turn off the game when a guy is throwing a no hitter. It's like...a law.
  23. Half the battle is being good...the other half is being lucky. Hitting your stride at the right time, avoiding injuries, or an epic collapse to let you pass a team. If it was about being good the best team would always win...yet they almost never do.
  24. Mark Attanasio doesn't expect any moves till after the deadline. Not the most surprising thing, but I am sure that could change quickly. Break is a popular time for a few deals to break out.
  25. Seems like a lot off rain outs. Has it been that wet across the US? I know I have been soaked around me in Wisconsin. Though the Brewers haven't really had much rain problems(even games in MKE have been in dry weather).
