  1. 1998 Brewers, 42-36 on June 27th, finished 5th place 74-88. My first season I was old enough to follow them ends with a collapse. 1999 Brewers, 47-47 on July 22nd, finished 5th place 74-87. 2001 and 2004 as mentioned earlier were pretty big collapses. 2007 was the worst, 2008 would have been too if not for the Mets collapsing harder.
  2. It's a long season and a lot of times the numbers at the all-star break don't represent a full seasons worth of numbers. There are numerous guys who have played over their heads so far (Sogard, Aguilar, Thames, Pina, Shaw to an extent, Anderson, Suter, Knebal). These four games don't really mean much, mostly just bad luck close losses but that doesn't mean struggles aren't on the way. This has been a really soft schedule the last month and a half, that's about to change and we'll find out what we have in this team soon.
  3. Every great winning streak, (other than to start the season) starts after a loss! Tomorrow with Jimmy on the hill, is the start of a four game winning streak! Get the division lead back up to 5+ games and then sweep the Cubs next weekend to put them away for good!
  4. Oh don't worry, I'm pretty sure I know where this season is headed. I actually thought Anderson going down was going to spur the inevitable downswing, but then they did the opposite and went into the break hot. It's not even really these four games, there have been numerous unlucky breaks that have lead to four straight losses, it is what it is and all four could just as easily have been wins. What it is is the difference in talent between the Brewers roster and the Cubs roster. The Cubs will most likely be in first place by the end of the season. As a fan I'll root against the analytics and predictions and hope the long shot comes through, but that probably won't happen.
  5. What lead? The only thing that matters it the L column which is tied right now. Standings are by winning percentage, not the loss column. The Brewers still have a better one than the Cubs.
  6. This is the worst possible thread to post that in. Where else would be better? I started a thread about the NL Central Race and someone criticized me for that as well. Anywhere but the OPTIMISM thread!
  7. This is the worst possible thread to post that in.
  8. Four losses by a combined seven runs. They've been quite unlucky to say the least. Sometimes bloopers fall in. The great thing about building a 5.5 game lead is you can survive a little stretch like this and still have a lead.
  9. This one went in our favor, but that is a bad call, what is the point of replay? It's as much of a coin flip on close calls as the call on the field is.
  10. I mean it's been more of just not quite getting the big hit than a bad slump. They did have like 13 hits yesterday.
  11. I mean if you're going to lose two in a row I'd rather it be a million stranded baserunners where you were maybe one or two big hits away than 6-0 two hitters.
  12. Magic number down to 67 with another Brewers win 51-41 5.5 up on the Cubs!
  13. Any details yet on why Trey York was released?
  14. 50 wins, 5.5 game division lead and a magic number of 68 at the all star break. This can't be real.
  15. Took a little while but he finally got that curveball over on 3-2.
  16. Not sure how long you've been around but '06 '07 '08 are good reference points. A big part of the bullpen struggles those years was bullpen management. Counsel is light years ahead of Yost in that aspect.
  17. Nice play by Santana, he's had his struggles out in right but that was a good one.
  18. That is exactly what I was thinking when I here it. It's been so long since I've watched that show.
