  1. "I can't Believe the Standings" Believe it! Magic number down to 93! Rebuilding at light speed!
  2. Yup, games end after the visiting team bats in the top of the 8th right? Thankfully they do not!
  3. 2.5 game lead with a magic number down to 94. And tonight we face a guy who pitched for the Timber Rattlers last season. What a fun year this has been so far.
  4. Well managed game until now, Torres should not be used in a close game or any game really.
  5. Well you'd think tomorrow would be the perfect day to use him for a couple innings regardless of the score, Knebal might be unavailable, maybe Barnes too.
  6. Seems like we've run into a stretch of some bad home plate umpires.
  7. A 6'11'' lefty in the 40th round. Thats fun.
  8. Well a move has to be made today, Garza is coming off the DL and is scheduled to start, hopefully they make one of those moves and don't just send Espino packing after being back for one day. I wouldn't mind seeing Espino get a shot in the pen for a while, same with Woodruff when he comes off the DL after hopefully a short stint.
  9. You would judge the entire pick based solely on the fact he might have tommy john? He is a positional player. If we sent him in today he should be ready to go at the start of the season or very early in the season. Well if he does avoid surgery I like the pick, if not I feel neutral at best about it. Sitting out a long period of time could negatively effect his development.
  10. I think I like Day 2 better than Day 1. For High School pitchers I like Murphey over Lemons. As stated already on here, Lemons is a massive project who needs a lot of work on his mechanics. If Hiura does avoid surgery I like the pick, I definitely like the idea of drafting the top college hitter available, but we'll see. Lutz is an ok pick. Harrison can hit, but I'm surprised the Brewers view him as a catcher. Rose and Bowden are good picks, Egnatuck is a reach. Some good and some bad overall.
  11. Scahill did have some bad peripherals this season. I mean there are plenty of other terrible pitchers in our pen, we just need to get rid of them too. There's no salvaging anything from Feliz. They can probably give up on Peralta soon too. This is his third disappointing season in a row and if anything he's been worse in the bullpen. I kind of thought with the move to the pen he would let it fly and his velocity would be up, that hasn't been the case. Torres likely needs a DL stint with the amount of innings he threw last year and what he's done so far this season, he's been completely ineffective for weeks.
  12. I love the contact play with one out and pitcher up next. You've basically got nothing to lose, and sometimes they bounce the throw in and it works!
  13. The Cubs keep losing, magic number down to 98
  14. I don't have an issue how he put it together. Often times bullpens are built by just throwing things at the wall and hoping for the best. What I do have a major issue with however, is not making changes when the guys you have are terrible. The leash has been WAY too long with these guys. We took some guys off the scrap heap, it didn't work. Cut your losses and try something else. We have at least 4-5 guys in the minors that can be called up. They'd have to be really really bad to do much worse than what we have. I mostly agree, but it does look pretty bad right now that Blazek and Cravy didn't make the team out of spring.
  15. I feel bad for Torres. He's been criminally overused, last year he pitched a ton, and so far this year I think he's on pace for even more innings. It was pretty ridiculous that he was the first guy out of the pen today (Not that it mattered for the game result today in that everyone was terrible, if it were up to me I would have used Peralta first out of the pen today but we all saw how that went). Part of the reason we need changes in the pen is because we need to survive the season. I don't want to see a young reliever like Barnes end up throwing 80 innings this year, same with Knebal. Having guys like Feliz be the 7th man in the pen really sucks because at best he can only cover 1 inning, and that's at best, often times his outings end up like today where he's so ineffective he can't even last an inning.
  16. Why on earth would you use Torres here, he is the most overworked relievet in baseball and has been struggling mightily. You have a 9 man pen, nearly anyone else is a better option.
  17. 99 and counting after the Cubs loss, we're down to double digits!
  18. Magic number down to 100!
  19. Great win, but the whole pen is pretty much gassed. If Guerra can't pitch nine innings tomorrow they should just use Hader to finish it out and see what happens.
  20. Beautiful execution in this inning. Bottom of the lineup coming through big tonight.
  21. Buckle your seatbelts! Four innings of Brewers bullpen coming up!
  22. Cubs Lose! The Division lead remains at 1 game and the magic number falls to 102.
