  1. Here it is, hit it, and another rally killing strikeout
  2. Bunting on two strikes with a non-pitcher, awesome
  3. Without looking it up it has to be, they are bottom half to bottom third in virtually every major offensive category (runs, avg, obp, slg, etc.) but one of the best homerun hitting teams
  4. Now would be a good time for that new pinch runner, is he with the club yet?
  5. I mean I think many of us could see a huge collapse coming (as of now 8 games and about to be 9 lost to the Cubs in the standings) but I just didn't think it would be like this. How do you get shutdown by terrible pitchers over and over again, Bartolo, Homer Bailey, this guy tonight I've never heard of, and countless others? I don't know, but here we are again.
  6. I don't know what the answer is. I don't know if you fire Coles, or what. I don't even know who you replace. Pina has been good. Shaw has been good. They were a good offense for the first half and then they went into what everyone assumed was just a funk, yet that's exactly who they've been for 7 weeks now. I mean on the plus side the pitching has been a complete surprise to me. Davies, sure, he's been about what I expected this year. Nelson and Anderson have been far above expectations. The bullpen has been a lot better than expected too, sure they had early struggles, but in the second half they've been outstanding. Offensively it probably has a lot to do with the boom or bust approach, being one of the best homerun hitting teams along with the worst at striking out. When you struggle with putting the ball in play as much as this team does, you're going to struggle with stringing together hits. They also don't walk at all anymore, last year it was refreshing to see the approach at the plate (though they struggled in many other areas offensively and weren't successful) I thought it would lead to us having a much better overall approach at the plate in the years to come, but I guess not. It's back to 2013-2015 era free swinging out makers all day.
  7. I'm a little surprised how bad the offense has been this season. I didn't think this would be a below average offense, especially given the ballpark they play in. Early in the season people were concerned that our minor league system was so heavy on position players, but honestly it looks like we need a lot more help there than pitching. 1B, 2B, SS, C, CF, LF. I guess the offense needs to be rebuilt more than the pitching staff.
  8. Yeah and there have been quite a few where the offense does nothing after the first couple innings and the bullpen holds a one run lead for 2 or 3 innings. Make no mistake, this is an above average rotation and bullpen and a below average offense this season.
  9. I'm not exactly sure there's a good matchup for him the rest of the year unless we lose 15 in a row and its tank for a draft pick time
  10. Not to mention the fact that none of those unearned runs score if he could field his position. Easiest 1-2-3 DP ever.
  11. I go to a lot of games, but I will never spend money going to a Garza start. With the rosters expanding soon this should be his last start.
  12. Jansen walking Pina is one of the rarer things you'll see.
  13. Good win, really one you should get when the Dodgers are basically punting the game away with a bullpen day. I wish this were a different era, and useful stats weren't used or available. I made a fun longshot bet on Davies to win the Cy Young when I was in Vegas before the season, $5 to win $3000. Davies is now tied for the league lead in Wins. If only this was 30 years ago...
  14. Indeed, he has been below replacement level since April.
  15. That's the great thing about chasing 3 teams with no one to leap frog and you only have to catch one. If you win, you're probably gaining ground on somebody and if you lose you're probably not losing ground to everybody.
  16. You've gotta throw four really bad pitches to walk Pina. Definitely time for a pitching change.
  17. "Absolutely. Torres/Jeffress/Drake for 4-5 innings today if needed." I'd rather just ride with Garza than that option.
  18. Yeah the old one run lead in the 5th doesn't always hold up for the rest of the game...
  19. Well, here's your shot. If you can't at least get one in here, I don't know what to do.
