  1. A Brewers win and a Cubs loss! What a great day! 80
  2. Magic number down to 83 with another Cubs loss!
  3. No this is way different and worse than past losses. Their best starter went down today and may miss an extended period of time. That would be incredibly tough to overcome. I'm merely pointing out that this team isn't supposed to contend anyway. When they inevitably fall out of this there are still tons of positives to this season, there's a lot of young talent playing well.
  4. We're all fans but you can be realistic. There's a reason they were a 150-1 shot to win the pennant this year. And it's ok, it's supposed to be a rebuilding year. It's a lot more important for the organization to see Hader pitch scoreless innings and Arcia to hit like he has lately than to worry about Thames and Jesus striking out. Especially after watching Anderson go down today. With this rotation as bad as it is its a killer when the best pitcher is hurt.
  5. Well it was fun to believe for a while but this is what this team is.
  6. Guerra has been terrible this year, luck finally catching up to him
  7. Magic number down to 87! Just like that it's a 1.5 game lead again.
  8. I mean honestly, after something as ridiculous as this, can we finally cut Nick Franklin? I mean how does a random bench player get ejected over the Braves maybe taking an extra second or two to look at a review?
  9. Mediocre is rather generous. I mean he was no jimmy haynes.
  10. A mediocre starting pitcher. Reminds me, the other day at miller park i saw a matt kinney jersey.
  11. Davies was good last year, he's young. I'm fine with him getting a longer leash to figure things out. Its still a rebuild and its still time to let young prospects figure things out. Its the 30+ year old relievers i have no patience with, they either have it or ship them out.
  12. I would hardly say that any of those numbers are good for a guy who can only pitch one inning and I really wouldn't want to use him in close games given his struggles, so the only opportunities are nights like tonight down a few runs, and when that's the case you really need someone to pitch multiple innings.
  13. It was more his stuff than his numbers. He threw high 90's with tons of movement on his fastball. The thought was if he could refine the slider a little and work on the changeup he had the stuff to be dominant. It never happened. And yeah, even his one good year in the big leagues wasn't that good.
  14. Then send him to AAA to show he can pitch one inning. We have too many crappy one inning relievers as it is. Sometimes you're down a few runs and you need a guy to cover a few innings like Espino is doing now.
  15. Disappointing really, it looked like early on he had a chance to be a special pitcher. Instead he joins a long list of Brewer pitching prospects to turn into giant busts. But it's a new era, new GM, new Scouting director, maybe the trend changes.
  16. Jimmy Nelson putting together a fine season, a year after it looked like he might not be part of the future, or might have to go to the bullpen. Magic number down to 91!
  17. No bullpen issues to report today. Quality day.
  18. Agreed, and the real problem is we haven't even seen the full effects yet of the criminal level of overuse of some of our bullpen arms. Wait till Knebal inevitably breaks down. If he survives this season, it'll probably happen next year with a lengthy DL stint. It's not only the ineffectiveness that has me calling for five new bullpen arms, its the level of use. You have to be shuffling new arms in all season long if use a bullpen like this. There's also too many one inning only guys in the pen right now. Knebal, Barnes, Torres, Drake, Hughes, Peralta (I list him because due to ineffectiveness he usually has to be pulled before he can get through more than an inning) The common five inning start means at least half the pen has to be used to cover the rest of the game.
  19. Cubs... LOSE!!!!!! Magic number down to 92
  20. Hader and Espino called up, Counsel sticks with Drake and Torres, awesome.
  21. Drake and Torres can be sent packing any day now.
