  1. He's only gotten on base like four times all season and yet he's managed to get picked off twice already, I've never seen a baserunner make as many outs on the bases and it's only been a little over one full season
  2. I agree; but, umps are different heights and see strike zones at different angles and with varying vision. In a perfect world, the strike zone should be the same across the board. I like a little variation from umpire to umpire, but not variation within the zone of an umpire. One positive to tonight's home plate ump was that outside corner was wide open all night long. I agree though, it's all about consistency.
  3. Had no idea Feliz was this much of a fireballer. What an excellent trade chip he could be at the deadline.
  4. I've been amazed the last few years about how uniform the strike zone has become, so much so that a guy tonight calling an inch or two off the outside corner is really noticeable. It's not talked about as much but I think umpiring behind the plate has gotten a lot better in recent years. In the field not so much.
  5. Reminds me of strike zones from 15 years ago or so. Some days the corners were wide open. Today, if an ump is off by an inch or two its surprising.
  6. It's tough but they're doing the right thing in waiting it out and giving him the whole season there. Got to give him a long leash there if for no other reason than he's the guy there and will be for awhile. Isan Diaz is a long ways from the bigs. Well yeah, and the goal isn't really to win games yet anyway, so it'd be better to wait it out and see if Villar can gain some value. It's just amazing how bad of a first week it's been for him at the plate with the ridiculous k/BB ratio and in the field.
  7. It's such an amazing contrast between Villar and Arcia defensively, when the bat comes around lookout
  8. Is there anywhere you can put Villar defensively? This is one of the worst overall starts you can have to a season.
  9. This leads me back to what I was saying during the season. We are not looking at 2018 (though I sure wouldn't complain). We are looking at 2020, 2021, 2022. That's when this team should be legitimate contenders. By then we'll likely have a few more top 10 picks, maybe top 5 and hopefully have the elite franchise player or two that can lead this franchise to the promised land.
  10. When you've got this big of a bullpen I can't believe Craig would stick with Torres when he clearly didn't have it.
  11. 2 pages of arguing over a veteran outfielder, meanwhile the Brewers just took a 9-2 lead over the Cubs and Wily is having another nice start.
  12. Looks like Davies has a ton of pine tar on his left arm, surprised the cardinals of all teams haven't noticed or said anything yet.
  13. Well I don't think I've ever seen rain at a game at Miller Park with the roof open
  14. Look, the reason Kirk is playing every day lately is probably because we have about 7 days left before the waiver deadline is over and we're looking to trade him, it's the same reason Blaine Boyer and Carlos Torres are getting innings out of the pen. After the deadline, if Kirk is still here and still playing a lot, then I can understand the complaints.
  15. I think Carlos Villanueva went 6 or 7 shutout innings against the Cardinals in his debut (I think in '06).
  16. I will bet we end up seeing a position player pitch in this game.
  17. I know, there's been a lot of prospects that struggle at the very beginning of their big league careers. I just don't think it was necessary to start his clock now. It's not like he had earned it by hitting well in AAA.
  18. I agree 100000000% and I would bet a lot that is why they are doing it. Short sighted move that makes little sense for the long term. He is doing OK at a hitter paradise in AAA. Hope he can come up and hit well since someone is going to lose a starting spot(Perez?). Really a shame I just don't see the rush to promote him. And now a few weeks in he's batting .170 and showing no power. There was no need to rush him up this year.
  19. Seems like Maldonado's defense goes to [expletive deleted by moderator] when he has to play more than once a week.
  20. Replay is one of the worst things to happen to baseball.
