  1. The Friday 4/11/25 Rates and Barrels podcast from The Athletic talks a bit about the BP Priester article and the trade in general. Then a larger discussion of the Brewers pitching philosophy and continued league leading fastball utilization.....With a little Garrett Mitchell and Joey Ortiz love somewhat randomly thrown in! While much of it is framed within a fantasy context, it makes me feel good to hear smart baseball people like Eno Sarris and DVR give reasons for optimism.
  2. Forgive me if this was already stated, but it appears Baseball Prospectus has just released a large deep dive into this trade. & what might have been the Brewers thought process in making this deal. While I don't have a subscription myself, the article itself seems to be getting rave reviews
  3. What is most exciting about this for me is that while they obviously think they can do their Brewers unlocking thing with him, his size, velocity and team control potentially make the picture who emerges from their lab more devistating than merely survivable. I feel like a lot of their most recent reclamation attempts have been with lower ceiling guys. (which is also super valuable.) It's just harder to come by clay they both identified and who has the tools. With that said, no doubt a level of desperation played a role here and affected the price. Boston knows it, and probably like all teams now, get nervous when we come sniffing around one of their pitchers.
  4. People soon to be scrambling to erase that evidence over on the win prediction thread
  5. Going to be an epic comeback when we look back on how this started!
  6. One of my priority wishes for this year is less nibbling from Freddy, more strikes, and pitch counts that aren't balooning out control by the 4th inning.
  7. 84-78. I feel like they will surpass their PECOTA projection, but not by a lot. I think Vegas has them about right
  8. Yes as a now Illinois resident, my ability to try to recruit people I know is pretty much non-existent
  9. I think this is the way to go! I've seen some of the online tools and their growing ability to offer immersive online experiences that focus on visualization and sound, and it seems like it's only getting better. Like you said, being able to meet virtually and not be together physically also makes things easier to maintain. Plus, the comic book store I went to when group hunting had a negative immersion factor, that being the constant smell of a cave trolls.
  10. This is pretty much exactly where my mind is at as well as far as order of finish. I just think we're due for a year in line with expert analysis and statistical modeling instead of yet another year of exceeding expectations. Also not crazy to think we could still exceed expectations but fall short in the Central. Admittedly, I thought the same thing last year and was wrong!
  11. Thank you, Spencer! I deleted the "everything app" when it got a little too much for me personally & am enjoying the growing network on BlueSky. I realize that some people enjoy the direction of that app or have a brand & an established following on Twitter so they are reticent to post in another place, so I totally get it. I'm just not one of those people with anything to lose. If anyone from this community posts on BlueSky I'd love to know your IDs so I can follow you! I know some list it in their profiles here too. Thanks in advance. Regardless, I'll be into minor league coverage here as much as any place for sure!
  12. To say I'm excited about Jesus Made would be an understatement. While nothing is a sure thing, he seems to have an ceiling as high as anybody I can remember in the Brewers organization. As such, I really want to get in on the ground floor with him and monitor his progress through the minors as closely as possible. I'm looking for any suggestions on the best ways to do this. Would it be worth getting the MLB/Milb TV package with the hope of seeing him there this year? Are the Timber Rattlers the lowest level to have regular TV coverage on that service and what levels of the organization might he reach this year? I'm seriously considering subscribing to the minor league package regardless, because we have so many exciting young players to watch. I think part of being a fan of this organization is to celebrate the parts of the organization where we thrive & developmental levels are obviously a huge part of what we are doing well. In addition to televised games, I'd love to hear about general or organizational specific podcasts, blogs, sub stacks, YouTube channels, etc. to maximize my exposure to Made highlights, analysis, and speculation. Obviously, Jack, Matthew, Spencer, Joseph and others do an outstanding job keeping us informed here on Brewer Fanatic, via the blog and podcasts but I'm really wanting to dive in & consider new information networks. So with sincere apologies for the long post, please help me find Jesus!
  13. I'm not sure what the maximum number of pitches Woody has thrown in his career, but I'm setting my level of, "would be ecstatic if" to 50% of that number. This was a serious surgery and I'm trying to stay realistic. Don't care about any dead arm periods or mid-season "setbacks", mostly care that he finishes the season healthy so that he can possibly contribute to any postseason run, and at the same time, continue to but distance between him and the surgery.
  14. Table top RPGs have always fascinated me. Since being a little kid whose big brother would play D&D with his friends but never allow me to join, I always jealously wanted to give it a try. 😁 As an adult, I finally went down to our local comic book store and caught on with a group of other adults playing 5e, but covid soon ended that.... which was fine because that group really didn't have time, patience, or willingness to humor a newbie. While having nobody to compare him to, the DM also just didn't seem very organized or consistent in what he did which left me feeling disappointed. All this to say, as somebody with limited experience, and almost none of it good, I'm still a big fan of what it seems like tabletop RPGs can be. I'm a huge fan of baldur's gate 3 & how it implements D&D rules into a video game medium. I still purchase the new D&D rule books that come out just because I like to read through them and see how the game is evolving. Actually, just received the new Monster Manual last week which is just always a joy for me to flip through and makes me feel like a kid again. Haven't played any other RPGs like Pathfinder and I know there are a ton of them out there now, but I will always have a soft spot talking about them or learning more about them!
  15. Absolutely love this system and hope it makes its way to MLB permanently (I think it will.) Most surprising thing for me has been how quickly the system works. Almost no disruption at all, at least far less time it used to take many pitchers to deliver pitches In tight situations pre pitch clock. Was very skeptical before I saw it this spring but now I'm on board 100%. To be fair, I hope I live to see the day all balls and strikes are called this way & the humans just see to everything else like calls on the bases and base paths etc.
