  1. Honestly if he doesn't stay at catcher (although I hope he does) he may fit well at 1B which would also likely fill a position of need when he makes his debut at the big club.
  2. MLB.com has Nottingham slotted at #15 on the Prospect list. And I also think Braun goes back to LF with Santana sliding to RF.
  3. I personally think that Washington will be where he ends up. The window with Harper is closing, and Lucroy fills an obvious need for them. Giolito is a pipe dream, but Turner should be the starting point for this trade. I think you get Turner+ without including a Smith in the deal, but with him the return gets much more intriguing. I would personally be shocked if Luc is part of this team on Opening Day. IMO a deal should be done by the first week of March at the latest. I think the Brewers do themselves a disservice, return-wise, by holding on to him through the break, or God forbid, through the end of the year if he has a bad start to the year or gets injured. Just my two cents....
  4. Yeah....I have to echo the rest of the responses...Joe always seemed a little asleep at the wheel. I know there are worse guys out there, and we may just be spoiled, but it was rough to listen to, especially if they were getting routed. And when it comes to Jim Powell, I think that's a pipe dream. I would absolutely love to have him back, but the Atlanta Braves job was a dream destination for him. Let the search begin..... And not to sway the subject to TV, but we are also spoiled with B.A., whether people know it or not. I'm surprised he's hung around as long as he has....
  5. Just for reference sake, the Astros (preseason) were 22/1 to make the playoffs last year (4.35% chance), and 150/1 to win the World Series. Their O/U for wins was set at 75.5. As for Lucroy's comments, I understand everything he said is true. And also that he has the right to say them. He has always been outspoken, and rarely, if ever, "swallowed blood" biting his tongue when asked a question. But we all know whats going on here, and so should even the casual fan. The questions could have been answered with a considerable more amount of tact on his part. A party line answer that we hear every week in press conferences could have been used. But again, I refer back to the fact that he has never, in my memory, given a party line answer. It is what it is, and unless they get a haul for him, as they should, lets see how it plays out with him behind the dish at Miller Park.
  6. I personally love this trade. Adding more depth is exactly what I as a fan want to happen. Broxton is a speedy CF who can go get it and is still developing at the plate. Supak adds yet another arm, and as we all know, you can never have enough pitching. Maybe a Davis trade yet to get Santana to RF, Braun back to LF and Broxton at CF. and for those of you who constantly complain about the W-L record for 2016.....do you want to continue to hang in the middle-to-bottom of the pack? Stearns is doing exactly what needs to be done IMHO. Youth and depth folks.....youth and depth.....
  7. Bingo. We have a winner Bingo is right. Totally agree. But to answer the topic question, I think it may be Davis. However, I think this message board may implode when Davis doesn't get traded for a top 10 or two top 100 prospects. Not saying he's horrible, but a streaky hitter with average fielding skills and a terrible arm does not equate to top prospects coming back.
  8. I feel like there are a lot of people jumping off of the roof here. Maybe I'm all alone in thinking, but I never expected any kind of huge return for Lind. I sort of expected a "stock the farm" return. Maybe not three teenage pitchers, but definitely not a top 10 prospect. I get Lind is a 3 WAR guy, but he is also still very injury prone and on a one year contract. Young pitching, all with high SO rates and low WHIP doesn't sound too bad to me. Also, I'm not an international or low level scout and would never pretend to be. I'm going to trust that department for now, and see how this all pans out.
  9. Had to post this comment from mlbtraderumors.com....thought it was funny... Just Another Fan 25 minutes 7 seconds ago It’s actually a co-sign with the 49ers, he will suit up immediately on Sunday. Even though he hasn’t played in years, he’s definitely better at football than anyone on that team.
  10. 1. I agree. The contract holds Stearns back, but if he does play well he can be dealt at the trade deadline if they think that's what needs to happen. It would be at a loss though, considering the money the team would have to eat. 2. As much as I love Luc, I agree with finn that he is our best trade chip. He is replaceable with Maldonado, at least defensively, if not with the bat, everyday. If they are serious about a rebuild, you have to get what you can for Luc, which I would expect to be a very favorable return. 3. I would maybe use the term "high floor/low ceiling" when describing Gennett. The left handed bat, OPS vs. RHP and the contract keep him around for now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he was part of a package deal.
  11. Heres a picture of the bobblehead for those interested: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/z/e8sAAOSwHnFVq~7I/$_1.JPG
  12. I think I take the over. If Parker stays healthy and Monroe is the impact that I think he will be, a 5 win improvement over last year is easily attainable. Lets not forget that the Bucks have not had an inside presence like Monroe in a LOONG time. I think that alone gets them to 47-48 wins this year.
  13. Payroll wise they exceeded 310 million and 8 players on the 40-man made 10 million or more this year. Buying a championship hasn't worked all that often in recent memory although teams still try. And even if the team is stacked, chemistry can't be bought either, whether between the players and each other, or the players and the manager. I'm not saying there was tension there, but look at Washington this year. Another team that tried to stack the deck and it crumbled. Was that all Matt Williams? I'm sure a significant portion of it was, but at some point the players need to take some accountability in the firing of their manager.
