  1. I too went back and forth with what hunting breed to get. After some number of months of research my wife and I decided on a Lab. Not sexy or unique I know but he's awesome! 1.5 year old Murl http://hphotos-sjc1.fbcdn.net/285414_10150239662413016_637868015_7579719_5685857_n.jpg He's e-collar trained (which I know some people despise but it's absolutely necessary for hunting situations). He's great off leash and actually walks and heals better than if he is on leash. He's an awesome family dog and a heck of a bird hunter. The obedience training we sent him to was worth its weight in gold. We sent him to lady who has trained labs for 30 years, she's not heavy handed but she is firm and you would not believe how dogs respond to her. She is our own private "Dog whisperer".
  2. Does anyone know what the pitch abbreviations are on the Pitch FX portion of Fangraphs? I get these: FA= Fastball CU= Curve CH= Change SL= Slider and I assume PO= Pickoff The ones I dont get are? FT? IN? UN? Any help would be appreciated.

  4. That projection was made before the arival of CC. Yet another reason why season long predictions are a sticky ordeal.
  5. How are all you optimists feeling now? Turn out the lights....party's over. The only positive is Ned won't be here next year. Too bad...playoff games in Milwaukee would have been electric.
  6. 2 issues with the project prospect article: Not sure I've ever heard that as a negative before when referring to a pitchers mechanics. and If Lincecum is the model of good mechanics, I'm afraid to see what he thinks are poor mechanics. Overall the list is decent. Most of the right names are though I disagree with the order. There were also few notable omissions...most glaringly Michael Givens. I know he didn't get to throw a full inning but 93-96 with + life and an above average change-up probably warrants top 10 consideration.
  7. Speaking of Wendell...he was out making appearances around town on Friday. I got to meet him at a bar in Waukesha. Seems like a pretty normal guy. He's an aspiring actor BTW.
  8. If only we didn't have Nedly deciding who those "best" match ups are. This could be like giving a monkey a Swiss army knife...too many choices and too much cool stuff to play with.
  9. Nope. 26 years and counting. *Sigh*
  10. I get it as well. Funny stuff.
  11. The girlfriend and I did it as well. "High pressure" doesn't begin to explain the sales tactics. The best trick is how they make you wait to get your free trip voucher after saying "no" to 3 other people and then when you go into the little room to get it the guy tries to hard sell you one last time. You'll feel used and a little dirty when you leave the place trust me.
  12. Not great. He probably projects as a closer at some point but how many HS kids do you know that get drafted as a closer? I'm guessing he will be drafted as he is a freak athlete and has shown those 94+ numbers. His swing has quite a few holes but he probably has "7" raw power on the pro scale. I just don't know that he wouldn't be better served taking his game to FSU for 3 years and improving.
  13. This whole quote was supposed to be in blue right Tuesday? Ned does not learn. He had to be asked by his 20-something players to change the lineup otherwise he was going to contiune proving to the world that he was right. All those years as a career back-up have given Ned the world's biggest small man complex. He will stick to his idoitic ideas until some other circumstance forces his hand. He did it with Corey Hart and Mench, he did it with Turnbow, he did it with Brady Clark, he did it with Capuano and you could go on infinitely. He does not learn or refuses to admit his mistakes. World's biggest case of little man syndrome.
  14. Back-to-back Yostings! Good call to keep him on for another season Doug. Pathetic.
  15. Bad news. This can be a sign of problems with the UCL (Tommy John ligament). Lets hope Sheets is ok.
  16. Scouts never made that claim. Pitching "guru" Tom House did as Prior was one of his clients. Regardless of who made the comment, guys with very good mechanics are still capable of breaking down. Pitching on a mound is one of the most unnatural acts a body can go through. Not to mention, Prior was a college pitcher with a high workload and then brought to the majors the year he was drafted. Lots of things to factor in and you can't just point to mechanics as the cause.
  17. FYI most of the players who don't have homes here year round live in the condos/ apartments on Greenfield Ave and Moorland Road (you can see them from the freeway on the south side of I-94. A bunch of them shop at the Walgreens on the corner. Go in there on an off day and you're bound to see a Brewer. My girlfriend and I saw CoCo at Mayfair eating Steak-Escape last year. Nobody really recognized him.
  18. Define a swinging bunt? Are you talking about a guy taking a swing and getting jammed, AKA a "swinging bunt"? That's purely a bad swing and not in any way a better alternative to a sacrifice. It surely doesn't show good bat control. If you're talking about bunting for a hit (drag bunt), they're not scored as sacrifices because the intent is not to give yourself up or "sacrifice" but to try and get on base. Thus an unsuccessful bunt for hit attempt is an 0-1 where a successful sac bunt is a 0-0. You rarely see a hitter drag bunt in a sacrifice situation because they are a lower % play. They are also a lost art. Wha? Tony Gwynn is a fine player, a great guy to have on your bench to pinch run, play defense and fill in for a injured player. He is not in any conceiveable way similar to Ichiro other than their size. Any "swinging bunts" TGJ has executed as a Brewer have been of the, "I got jammed and got lucky" variety. Ichiro has the best plate coverage and bat control of anyone in MLB currently. He takes pitches at his shoetops on the black and sprays them to the gaps. His hitting style is something that very few players are going to be successfull copying. His "slash and dash" approach is successfull for him because of his amazing bat control. Tony Gwynn is a guy with no pop in his bat who has a decent eye, is a decent bunter and can run. He is going to have to draw a lot of walks to justify his lack of pop to be an everyday player for any team. Again TGJ is a great player to have on the bench and a serviceable fill-in. Lets not start comparing him to a guy who has averaged 231 hits a year in the big leagues.
  19. I'd love to have Sean Miller. I do not want any of the following: Tony Bennett Rick Majerus Kevin O'Neil Bruce Webber Jim Larranaga or anyone who runs the swing offense
  20. Mota looks like he might have his stuff back. We have options other than Turnbow...a lot of them.
