  1. Pretty sure the only guy in that group who will even be in the organization is Narveson. Yeah but my point was that if we don;t eventually fill the rotation with our own guys we will continue to trot out guys like the ones mentioned about. So while Narveson may be the only one of the above mentioned players in the rotation next season, you can insert your own names to fill it out. And I wouldn't bother putting Cliff Lee in there. Why is protecting his arm a concern, but not his mental health? Quite honestly, if the only way he can stay off of marijuana is to have the possibility of pitching every day, then he needs help. What happens when he pitches three days in a row and the manager says he is unavailable for that days game? Or in the off season? Is he going to think it's ok to smoke pot then? I've never smoked it, but from what I'm told it's not physically addictive. If he can't quite smoking it it's because either a) he doesn't want to or b) he has some sort of mental issue that should be addressed before he is allowed to play baseball again. What I'm getting at is that his mental health is as important as his physical health. But if he really needs to be in the bullpen to avoid smoking it, then he shouldn't be playing baseball until that changes because it's not normal and it's not healthy. Next years rotation has a chance to be very good, simply because the Brewers have the resources to add at least 2 quality pitchers. I just can't see Prince Fielder bringing back someone who will make the rotation go from horrible to very good. And the free agent crop after Lee is underwhelming. I don't anticipate this rotation being "very good" next season.
  2. Ive got about 6 cans maybe. Mostly a little over a quarter full. Plus maybe three quart cans, all about half full.
  3. There was an article in today's JS about Mark Rogers and Jeremy Jeffress. I believe it was by Tom Hadricourt (sp?), and he basically said both need to go back into the rotation next year. I sometimes have some major issues with the Brewers beat writers, but in this case I couldn't agree more. He listed in there something said by Macha. I'll quote what he said so I don't get any details wrong..... "But manager Ken [/b]Macha [/b]said it might be more advantageous to ease Jeffress and Rogers into the big leagues in relief roles, initially. If you took those guys and you started them, their innings would probably pile up to a point where you would get to July and say, 'These guys have enough innings,'?" said Macha. "If you took a year and pitched them out of the bullpen and they got 70 or 80 innings, and you pitched them in multiple-inning stints, kind of like the Yankees did with Phil [/b]Hughes[/b], then you have them as starters the next year." I just don't understand this line of thinking. The guys have been starting games their entire lives. Why, all of a sudden, do they have to be switched to relieving in order to keep innings down? Why can't they start in the minors and have their innings limited, while still increasing, down there? Rogers can probably be increased to about 6-7 innings next season, assuming he can even get that many per game. Jeffress can probably go about 5-6. That means by 2012 they should have no problem with innings if they are in the starting rotation. For an organization that has had two consecutive seasons ruined by pitching, it seems like they are being a little too overprotective of their prospects. While Rogers and Jeffress would be rotting away in the bullpen, the Brewers are throwing out guys like Braden Looper, Chris Narveson, Marco Estrada, Dave Bush, and Doug Davis. No offense to those guys, but how do you expect to win a division when Doug Davis is your number 3? I'm ready to give up 2011 already because I don't think there are enough solutions to the rotation. Unless something unexpected happens, I see another season similar to this (that's why I'd be ok trading Fielder for prospects). But in 2012, they should have three starting pitchers ready to move into the rotation (Rogers, Jeffress, and Rivas) and a few more not far behind (Peralta, Scarpetta, and Heckathorn). Obviously injuries can happen and pitchers can have down years, but all 6 of those guys seem to be consistently good. Anyway.....the whole point of this rant is that Rogers and Jeffress both need to be starting games in the minor next season. I'm curious what the general opinion of this board is.
  4. I recently had my basement remodeled and that included the electrical closet where I kept all my paint. I wanted to move it because I had the closet carpeted and I also wanted some more space for storage. I asked the carpenter, who is my cousin, if I could store it in the garage. He said yes, as long as its off the ground. My brother and brother in law both said I couldn't because it would freeze. I'd like to keep it out there but I need it for touch ups and what not so I can't have it getting ruined. Can I store paint in the garage over the winter time? I'm just talking about regular indoor egg shell type wall paint.
  5. Yeah but what free agents are out there that we can afford and will improve the team enough to make the playoffs? Cliff Lee is just about the only guy I can see who will actually allow us to legitimately compete for a playoff spot, and getting him is going to be a chore, to say the least.
  6. I'm a little late to the show, but my first thought was this. If he has enough money to buy the Dodgers, why is our payroll still in the lower half of the league? I'm not sure how I'd feel about Mark Cuban as owner. I think we'd definitely be more aggressive with free agency, but that's not necessarily a good thing. I'd be a little worried we'd turn into the Cubs.....huge salaries with little success. I actually like the idea of building the team through the system because you really get excited to see these guys come up after following them in the minors so long. Overall though, I can't see Cuban settling for a losing team though, so I think probably it would be better to have him as owner than not.
  7. Except the offense would likely drop to middle of the pack which along with the rotation improving to middle of the pack yields a middling low 80's win team. Yeah I don't think you can just remove your #4 and #5 hitters from the lineup and expect the offense to be the same. I highly doubt Gamel will match next year what McGehee did this year. Plus I'm still not sold on Corey Hart. He could very well return to pre 2010 form.
  8. Will Rogers get a few starts No he'll throw about five scoreless innings in relief and then be switched to the bullpen full time because he has "closer's stuff". Seriously though. Congratulations to Mark. He has really earned it, and hopefully will soon be a mainstay in the Brewer's rotation.
  9. If they don't return him to starting I might just pick a new team to follow. When you're biggest problem, a problem so big that it has ruined each of the past few seasons, is so blaringly obvious, how can you even justify keeping a potential ace in the bullpen? They already moved on potential #2 to the pen in Braddock. How can it even be an option? The guy has a good half season in the bullpen so you change your entire plans for him? No wonder this team can't develop their own starting pitching. I agree with JB. Braddock has shown he can succeed in the pen. If he wants to, let him go back to starting next season in AAA. Start Jefferess in Huntsville and assuming he succeeds, move him up after 2 months. Then, even though 2011 may still be a lost season, by 2012 you are going to have four new, young, and cheap options for the rotation in Rivas, Rogers, Gallardo, and Jeffress. Peralta and Scarpetta not far behind. And now you are going somewhere.
  10. I realize it was only one inning, but Jeffress looked very impressive. I was most impressed with how he pounded the strike zone. And a very good breaking ball. Does he have a changeup at all?
  11. I don't like the idea of trading both him and McGehee in the same offseason. You'd be taking a huge chunk of your offense away and replacing it with a bunch of unproven guys. Plus I just can't see McGehee getting all that much in return. I think he's more valuable to us. I say move Hart to first and let Gamel play right with Cain in center, Gomez in AAA until he learns how to get on base. That leaves Fielder to help bring back pitching. I also wouldn't mind a prospect for prospect trade involving Lawrie, though I realize those aren't very common. One player I'd love to get is Pineda.
  12. Since the minor league seasons are winding down, I thought I'd bring up this thread to see how everyone's players are doing. My original five had some mixed results. Lorenzo Cain obviously had a monstrous year and exceed expectations. Lawrie really surprised me by having such a successful season in Huntsville. Rogers is having a good season so far too, though I'd still like to see fewer walks. Taylor Green is do alright, nothing spectacular, but enough to earn himself a promotion to Nashville next season. Arnett? Well....I won't even touch that one.
  13. I think the A ball point is a good one. If he put up similar numbers at Huntsville I'd be willing to guess that he'd be talked about a little more. Either way, I'm excited to follow him and I hope he can someday be a Yovani Gallardo #1/#2 type starter. It seems like the only pitcher in our system who could legitimately be consider a real future #1 is Jeffress, and I'm not so sure he'll ever be a starter again.
  14. During the hot sheet chat the moderator was asked about Odorizzi and whether or not this finally cements his status as a top 100 prospect. The moderator, Conor Glassey, answered "One outing is never going to cement a guy's status on the Top 100. He'll get considered, but I think he's a borderline Top 100 guy." In the latest power 50, Odorizzi is listed as number 2. Is our system really so bad that our 2nd best prospect is considered a "border line" top 100 prospect? Obviously it's just one man's opinion and I personally would have a hard time not seeing him in the top 100 list. Is this the general opinion of Odorizzi, or do most people view him as a better prospect than Glassey does?
  15. Might be a long year next year.
  16. I just don't understand the moves lately. Release Riske. Release Bush. Why not just hang onto the them until the end of the season? Does this mean someone like Butler or Rivas will be making some starts in September?
  17. He had also just withdrawn money from an ATM machine and I'm sure he had a bunch of jewelry hanging all over his body. I'm guessing the guy/guys that robbed him were waiting by the ATM machine for someone to come by and take out money. It's certainly not his fault that he got robbed, but you need to be a little smarter about how you act. He was an easy target. If I leave my front door wide open and leave for 4 hours I shouldn't be surprised to come home and see all my stuff gone.
  18. Other than Milwaukee PC I couldn't figure where else to take it. The estimate there was $320. I'm just going to hope it doesn't get any worse because right now it's really not too bad.
  19. Just a little update. Dust was definitely the problem and after I cleaned it it has run much better. So thanks again for the help. Now to a new problem: I managed to drop my laptop down the stairs. It runs fine, but the screen is all messed up. It doesn't feel like it's cracked, but there are some lines and stuff running across the screen. It's hard to explain exactly what it looks like, but is that something that is able to be fixed, or should I work on getting used to it?
  20. That helps out a lot. I appreciate it!
  21. Ok so you think if I can get the back off and use something to get the dust off that it would make a fairly sizable difference?
  22. You guys might be onto something, as I have taken notice as to how hot it has felt lately. Is there anything I can do about that myself, or does something need to be replaced? Keep in mind I feel terrible uncomfortably actually taking my computer apart to clean it because I hate messing with things that cost so much money.
  23. I have been having major issues with my computer lately. The problem: It constantly shuts itself off. I'll be doing whatever, looking at a website, and boom...its off. The real problem is that lately it's been doing it so much that I can barely use my computer. It'll shut off, then when I turn it back on, it'll shut off again before the computer even loads. I've tried doing the recommended startup problem screen where it tries to figure out what the problem is, but the computer won't stay on long enough to let it finish. I've tried opening it up on safe mode and that doesn't help. When I actually do have enough time, I've run both my anti-virus program (webroot) and Windows Defender and neither of them find an issue. I haven't looked at any new websites lately and the only thing I've download recently is an update to Itunes. My brother in law is pretty good with computers and without looking at it he thought it had to be some sort of virus, but again, my virus scans don't register anything. The computer itself is a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista and its about 3 years old. Oh, I also just recently replaced the battery and this problem happens both when its plugged in and when its not, so I don't think it's a battery issue either. Does anyone have any ideas?
  24. I'd go for it as well, even if we had to throw a little something else in. Caleb Gindl maybe? I like Gindl but he seems to have been tailing off and our outfield is loaded with depth which makes him expendable. Pineda steps right into the rotation next year and still leaves us with Fielder to restock the system.
  25. Would Lawrie get Pineda, straight up? If so would people here go for it? I would.
