  1. The biggest problem I see with the redeem is that it seems like all their guys seem to me like they are the same player. James, Bryant, Wade, and Anthony all seem like the same type of player to me. Plus they still dont have anyone that can shoot.
  2. Cnnsi has this article comparing the '92 dream team to this years Redeem team, and discussing who they think would win. G Magic Johnson G Jason Kidd G Michael Jordan G Kobe Bryant G John Stockton G Chris Paul G Clyde Drexler G Dwyane Wade G/F Scottie Pippen G Deron Williams F Larry Bird G Michael Redd F Charles Barkley F LeBron James F Karl Malone F Carlos Boozer F Chris Mullin F Carmelo Anthony F C. Laettner F Tayshaun Prince C Patrick Ewing C Dwight Howard C David Robinson C/F Chris Bosh The two rosters. Personally i think the Dream team would kill them. Every single one of those players minus Laettner is a hall of famer. They have about as much balance as possible, they would dominate in fundamentals. The fact that they just took basically the 12 best players and put them together, as opposed to this years team would had to add role players because all their best players seem to do the same thing, shows me a lot. The dream teams didnt have many big men, though neither does this years team. I was wondering what everyone thinks....
  3. My brother in law has an extra Hardy bobblehead, and he's looking to trade straightup for one he doesnt have, preferable the Polish sausage from this season. If anyone wants to trade even up let me know and I can figure out what he doesnt have,
  4. I've got 2 tix for Saturday against Pitt I cant use...Im just looking for $20 for the two.,....section 420 row 19. I'm in Milwaukee and can meet up somewhere tomorrow, within a reasonable distance.
  5. anyone in the milwaukee area selling two tix for tomorrows game? im looking for terrace level as i dont want to spend over $15 each. i can come pick them up today if we can work out a deal.
  6. I hate it when people are so focused on finding the right brand of the right product that they are oblivious to the fact that not only is their cart blocking half of the aisle, but they themselves are blocking the other half. Also too, I dont like it when people bring their kids and let them run wild. I cant tell you how many times I've almost run over a kid as I am about to turn into an aisle because the kids found what they wanted and come running back down the aisle like a bat out of hell.
  7. Thanks for the input. One more question. Do you think that if Green or Lucroy is taken it will affect where Lawrie plays? It doesn't seem that he has a natural position, and the two i heard most are second and catcher. Obviously Green is a thirdbasemen right now, but he may end up at second base eventually because of guyslike Gamel and Hardy. I know you can never have too many catchers, but when two of your top five prospects are not only catchers, but they are just hitting the cover off the ball, I think it would better to put Lawrie at a position where he wouldnt be blocked by 2 players.
  8. I just hope its not Brantley. We need him....we havent had a guy that can constantly put the ball in play since Mark Lorretta. As good as our hitters are, they are all proned to strikeouts and its seems like everyone is pull happy. If they take Green or Lucroy, what are the odds that we keep Hart and move him back to first to replace Fielder? It would be another upgrade defensively and open up one more outfield slot for the likes of Cain, Brantley, Gamel and Gillespie. Also too, if Cain has a better arm than Brantley, wouldnt it make more sense to play him in rightfield?
  9. Sorry if this is being discussed elsewhere, but I wanted to see if anyone had any inside information on who Cleveland is leaning towards taking as the Player to be Named Later in the Sabathia deal. All I know is whoever it is, we are going to lose a very good prospect. If I remember correctly, the 4 players on the list are Green, Lucroy, Cain, and Brantley. I took a quick look at the Indians top 10 prospects and it looks like they have 3 outfielders on the list, which would make you think they wouldnt go after Cain and Brantley. The have Victor Martinez who is one of the best catchers in the game, when healthy, but you can never have too many catchers. The name I heard most when the trade happened was Taylor Green. I guess if I had to pick, in order, who i would want to see traded, it would go like this. 1) Lorenzo Cain-starting to hit in Huntsville, and has tons of tools, but we have a lot of outfield prospects and I think Brantley is exactly the kind of player we need. 2) Taylor Green-playing third base although he's really a second basemen. As much as I want to see Weeks gone, we have nobody to replace him. Green would still be at least 2 years away, but has more walks than strikeouts and I think would be an ideal number 2 hitter 3) Jonathon Lucroy- As much as I dont want to trade one of the only legitimate catching prospects we've had in years, we do have Salome as well. I wonder if whoever Cleveland picks (Green v Lucroy) would affect what position Brett Lawrie plays full time 4) Michael Brantley-The ideal leadoff hitter for a team that hasnt had one in years. His Strikeout rate is unheard of, and he can steal some bases. Not sure what his defense is like, but I dont see why he couldnt be a certian fielder. I think we need him to set the table and put the ball in play ahead of guys like Braun, Fielder, Hart and Gamel.
  10. I forget who, but on CNNSI.com it was suggested by one of the baseball writers that Sabathia will get about $150 million for 6 years and Sheets will get about $50 million for 3 years. Under this scenario, I dont see why we cant resign Sheets at that rate. $17 for 3 years is a good deal for the NL all star starter, even though, surprisingly enough, he has only been healthy during this his contract year. I just don't think without a number one or number two guy we can compete next year. You'd be counting on Gallardo, who has about half a season undeer his wing, Parra, who will have one year experience, and bunch of extremely inconsistant number 5's in Bush, McClung and Suppan, along with a who-knows type guy in Capuana. And its not like we have any prospects to fall back on. Jeffress is at least a year away. I just don't think we can compete without a guy like Sheets or Sabathia.
  11. Capuano is an option as well. Any starting pitcher signed for more than 2 years is another waste of money, i think, unless its a top of the line started like Sheets or Sabathia. I dont like our rotation next season at all. Suppan Bush and Mcclung are all number 5 pitchers, in my opinion, and we are in trouble if all 3 are in the rotation.
  12. We'd have a nice cheap lefthanded bat in Brad Nelson, I just don't know where he could play. Gwynn needs to stick around, even if on the bench. I like the Blalock idea as well. Cameron, Counsell, Gagne, Turnbow and Mota need to be gone. I really, really think we need to resign either Sheets or Sabathia. Sheets is probably cheaper. In 2 seasons Suppan's ridiculous salary will be free, and hopefully we'll have some cheap pitching prospects like Jeffress up making a long term deal worth the risk. I want to see Gamel in Nashville for at least part of the season next year before we count on him as an every day player. His defense....can he play third? 27 errors in 116 games isnt that bad is it?
  13. Why not get some draft picks instead of three useless players? I admit I dont follow the Bucks all that much, but strictly talent wise Mason and Williams are far superior to that crap they got in return. Unless they are planning on making a huge splash in free agency next season, I just dont see why they'd bother trading for these guys.
  14. Every time someone strikes out your entire team has to take a shot. Same with every time you committ an error.
  15. I guess I dont mind the umpires. I dont mind human error is officiating, but holding them more accountable is definitely a good idea. One thing I dont want is replay. Games are long enough already. I guess maybe in the playoffs on homeruns, because a replay or two should be able to determine it right away, but no need to use it in every game on something. I am a big supporter of making the divisions even. I think its crap that the Brewers have to beat out 5 teams to win the division and the Angels have to beat out 3. As far as the playoffs go, they could make them much quicker if they wanted to by simply eliminating all the days off in between games. Make round one 2 of 3...round two 3 of 5 and the LCS and World Series 4 of 7.
  16. what would they be? I was thinking about this the other night. As much as I love baseball, there are some things I'd love to see happen. If I was the commish and could implement this without any issues from owners or the PA, this is what i'd do.... 1) World wide draft- Its insane that players from certain countries have to get drafted and players from other countries dont. Not to mention obviously teams like the Yankees, Angels, and Red Sox have more money and resources to scout international players and can afford to make mistakes more often. That Daiske Matsuzaka sweepstakes was an absolute joke. 2). Rookie salary cap-it would not only limit these absurd bonuses players are getting, but it would also ensure the better players have a chance to get drafted by the weaker teams, which is where they should go. Guys are slipping down to late first round because teams like KC, Pittsburgh, and others don't want to pay them what they are demanding. 3) Realignment- I think another joke is one division with 6 teams and one division with 4 teams, along with one league having more teams than the other. Take one team, such as Houston, and move them the the AL West. I would suggest adding 2 teams and switching to 4 divisions, but i dont think we need any more teams. 4) Expand the playoffs- make it similar to the NFL. Top two teams get a first round bye. The other division winner gets homefield and three wildcard teams. 5) Eliminate the DH- no real reason for this, I just hate it. I dont think players should be making millions of dollars a year to swing a bat 4 times a night and not play defense. To me you're not a baseball player unless you play defense.
  17. Is it going to be a constant HD, or a one game every six weeks HD like Time Warner has?
  18. Getting back on topic, I hope Lebron goes to Europe. I hope everyone else does too. Then I hope they take the WNBA with them. I am so sick of all the thuggery going on in that league. Watching 19 year olds becoming millionaires and seeing what they do with that money is just pathetic. Then everytime someone looks at another player wrong they get all tough and wanna fight, but its not a real fight like in hockey where 2 players stand toe to toe and punch each other while other players move equipment so they dont get hurt. In the NBA someone takes a cheap shot then runs away while the other guy chases him, and then all their teammates get involved, including guys ont the bench. I hope the NBA goes aways and never comes back.
  19. I would like to think that this would be the first of its kind in that fans actually provide added funding to the owner in obtaining a player. I'd like to think the $10 we have to pay to park a car and the $8 it costs to buy a beer would provide some of the money needed to sign Sabathia.
  20. I think you'd get much more for Prince than you would for Hardy. I really want them to keep Hardy and move him to third. It would vastly improve the defense. Trade Prince, because nobody seems to think we can sign him long term anyway. You can probably get 3 solid prospects, including two pitchers, for him, which is exactly what we need. The draft has been working so well lately and next year we'll get another haul in picks because of Sheets and Sabathia. You have all these position players coming up and really no pitchers I am excited about other than Jeffress, and even he has issues. Hardy would sign for cheaper and could finally fill that black hole at third base we've had for so long. It would also allow Taylor Green to move to his more natural secondbase assuming Cleveland doesnt nab him. We need pitching because if we can finally develop our own, we wont have to throw $12 million at guys like Jeff Suppan.
  21. Nor would we or any team offer 7 years. He'll possibly get 6 and in the 120s, but I highly doubt 7. I'd love to have him though.edit: didn't mean to sounds rude. I just think teams have learned from the Giants mistakes (Zito) I didnt find it rude, dont worry. I mentioned in another thread 6 years at $120 million and another poster made it sound like that offer was laughable, so i just added on another year. If he'd sign for 6 at $120 even better. Id be more than willing to give him that. As endaround pointed out, he's much better than Zito is, and is much more worthy of that contract. He may not be Santana, but nobody really is. He may be the next best thing though. If you are going to spend all that money on one player, it'd better be Sabathia, or, maybe a little less for Sheets. Without one of them our rotation is going to be bad. You are counting on Gallardo, with less than a full season under his belt, as the ace, and Parra, who has been going through a bit of a slump lately, as number 2, then 3 guys who should be number 5's anchoring the rotation. You have to do something.
  22. I couldnt agree more. They could have had Cordero for 4 years and 48 million, so why spend all that extra money on a guy that pitches one inning every couple of games? Take that money, and make an offer to Sabathia that doesnt insult him. I cant imagine he'd turn down 7 years at $140 million dollars.
  23. I'm not giving up on the chance of resigning one of the two. I think we have the money to do it, its just a matter of whether we are willing to give them the years. 7 years at $145 for Sabathia...thats a lot to pay, but he's been extremely durable, he's still relatively young, and he's still very affective. We have a lot of money coming off the books this year with some relatively inexpensive talent coming up in Gamel, Escobar, Salome, Lucroy, Gillespie...etc. We all assume Prince will be traded, that will save money down the line. Braun is locked up, which leaves really only Hart and Hardy I'd like to see signed long term. I think we can do it.
  24. I have two tickets for the sunday game, if you're interested.
  25. Two of my choices were already taken, so i'll say Jessica Biel
