  1. 19 games over for the first time this year. 6 series wins in a row. They picked a good time to get hot.
  2. I personally LOVE this team and it’s probably one of my top 3 Brewer teams ever and I’ve been a fan since 1977. Are they the best team I’ve followed? No but I love the heart and resilience they show. They’ve had so many come from behind wins and I almost never feel like they are out of a game. They’ve had bad weeks and you think that it might be the beginning of the end... but they bounce back with a nice stretch of games and claw their way back. The starting pitching is a hodge podge of spare parts and the bullpen has ranged from other worldly to maybe average. They’ve been mostly playing with a lineup of 6 legit hitters for most of the year but still have gotten contributions from guys like Kratz, Saladino, Pina and Arcia in key moments and they just keep finding ways to win. I think Counsell has done a masterful job of taking a 40 man roster of mostly average MLB players, with a handful of good to very good players and making them a legit playoff team. The camaraderie on this team is incredible and doesn’t seem to sour when they bring new guys into the clubhouse. You have guys that have been back and forth from AAA a half dozen times and nobody complains, they just do their best when called upon and seem to be buying into the team philosophy. The IGTs make me sad because this team can be frustrating at times but they’ve given us a season with many great moments and memories. And barring a catastrophic final 3 weeks, will make the playoffs, something that doesn’t happen often around here. Fans like to second guess every lineup and decision but all we have are stats. We don’t know if a player is nicked up, mentally drained or maybe has barely slept the last 2 nights because they have a 18 month old at home with a 103 fever that was up all night puking. There are a lot of things that go into these decisions that we will never know. Counsell isn’t perfect, no manager is... but he has done a masterful job IMO and if he wins manager of the year, he deserves it.
  3. Wow... that might be only the second time I’ve ever seen a non pitcher go down looking on all 3 pitches in my life.
  4. Well, we’re sitting behind a keyboard and he basically lives with these guys, so I’m guessing he has a better gauge of what is going in with the players than we do. It sounds like CC noticed he was struggling mentally or physically and talked to him. I don’t believe for a second if Yeli kicked and screamed and demanded to play that he would have played (see what I did there?). I guess I don’t get the second guessing on stuff like this. CC has the best interest of the team AND the players in mind when he makes these decisions, it’s not like he’s trying to lose on purpose.
  5. Wasn’t sure where to put this. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/09/07/frustration-over-reaction-off-day-boils-over-christian-yelich/1221972002/
  6. Hahaha... this is my favorite line: "If you got your feelings hurt, that’s on you. If a guy hits a home run off me, drops to his knees, pretends the bat is a bazooka and shoots it out at the sky…I don’t give a s—."
  7. Oh well, you can’t win them all. Get some rest tomorrow and let’s win another series.
  8. Let’s get at least one more and work some counts here and get the pitch count up and get to the bullpen.
  9. 4-0... it felt worse. We have 18 outs, we have them right where we want them. I’m calling the sweep.
  10. Cleaely the Cubs aren’t a playoff team, playoff teams don’t give away runs or games.
  11. Every player gets “measured” during spring training and their strike zone is stored. If a player is not in ML spring training, they can be measured when they get called up. This also accounts for exaggerated crouches etc. And if you watch on TV, the dot is where it crosses the plate, not where the catcher catches it. Oftentimes, the ball will almost hit the ground on a curve ball but will touch the bottom of the zone.
  12. Hopefully it as in the first inning, that’s a recipe for a loss.
  13. Schoop is trending in the right direction after a rough start. The trend can be a friend. I'll take an .865 OPS at short any day of the week. Re-sign Moose, Schoop at short, Shaw at second, Jesus at first. Trade Arcia. You could move Moose to short, Shaw to second, Aguilar to first and Braun to third and Thames to Lf
  14. Really? 3 games back with more than 20 games to play doesn’t change things? Edit: technically we would be only 2 games back, 3 in the loss column.
