  1. The winner was the Rangers' Pedro Payano - 2-0, 0.63 ERA, 2 G, 2 GS, 14 1/3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 HBP, 6 BB, 8 K Well Burnes made the team of the week from MLB Pipeline if that matters to anyone. I believe the Brewers lead all organizations with the most players on that list so far this year..
  2. Overall I am pretty happy about the minor league prospects so far this year. Brinson and Diaz have continued to rake like I expected and Clark and Ray have made steady progress throughout the yr which I expected as well. The good surprises to me are Supak and Burnes who have pitched great and seem to have great command and control of multiple pitches. Like everyone else I am pretty disappointed in Lara and Nottingham. I knew Nottingham needed work behind the plate, but he was supposed to be advanced in hitting. He has not shown that in the yr in a half yet. I expected alot more Power. Slugging .311 and .337 is terrible for a guy that supposedly his power is his best tool. I think it is obvious to all of us, but this system is def missing a 1/2 type of pitcher. I know it is impossible to just get any pitcher and make him an ace. This organization's number one goal for the next yr or 2 is to get/find "that guy". The Braves look to have about 4 elite pitchers which makes me super jealous.
  3. Carolina facing another top 100 prospect again tonight.. fast start.. Erceg w/ a 3 run shot
  4. 40 Second clip of EMJ taking some Batting practice.. Big Kid
  5. I wouldn't say I expected this by any means...didn't know what to expect. But I knew he was capable of this. This is a guy who's been a good pitcher throughout his career. Pitched his team to the WS when he was...what, 22, 23 years old? He always had good stuff. Has always been extremely aggressive and competitive. Never been a lazy guy who doesn't seem to keep himself in shape. Of course his last two years in Milwaukee he was injured, threw 250 innings with a ERA over 5(though a FIP was half a run lower) and a whip over 1.5. Still, he was an extremely reliable guy prior to that with an ERA of 3.74 before that and was always kinda a bulldog. So this certainly isn't the craziest turnaround...and having a proven starter who you can bring back for just 5 million dollars next year certainly has to look enticing to a team like...say New York who has just nothing but question marks in their rotation(CC looks like he's on his last leg, Tanaka's elbow, Pineda always injured...the young horse who's name eludes me, but he's a guy in his early 20's and Montgomery is young as well). They have a deep farm system.....especially with young guys who may not be highly rated, but have huge upsides. They have a few guys not ranked in their top 10 who throw in the upper 90's and have ace or elite reliever upside...even a guy like Dillon Tate. This seems to be the type of trade where we could get back 3 prospects who the team acquiring Garza doesn't project to be future contributors, but who could be lottery type players for us. I guess we'll see. Coming from the guy who didn't think Espino should have or was going to get called up.. In what world do you live in that you think the Brewers would get back 3 "lottery" type prospects bk for Garza? If they have pitchers they think are going to be good, wouldn't they just call them up rather than trading for a pitcher who has not stayed healthy or pitched good for entire yr since he was at Texas? They did it for Montgomery and Severino. If the Yankees trade away "lottery" type of players for a pitcher it would be a legit good pitcher. Not Garza..
  6. Look at their career numbers.. this whole staff is 4/5's.. The only pitcher going passed 6 innings regularly is Garza surprisingly. That takes its toll on the bullpen, which is also filled with a bunch of journeymen (Hughes, Feliz, Jhan, Drake). CC has done a great job pulling the right strings so far... Did people really expect this pitching staff to be good or better than league average? Enjoy this run and hope Garza keeps dealing so we can get more than a bag of balls for him.
  7. Couldn't agree more, but what makes it more frustrating is that you are not even counting 2 other young players who are one of the best at their positions: last years Rookie of the Year Corey Seager (23) and Clayton Kershaw (29) and still have 5 top 100 prospect players (according to MLB pipeline). I want the Brewers to be like this, where there is a consistent amount of young players coming to the big leagues every year. Especially, because if/when these players become great, the Brewers will be lucky to sign 1 or 2 of them as Prince and Braun showed us. This a big reason that I am not a fan of trading any prospects for a wild card game. Now, if that trade includes a Cordell type for a decent pitcher that we have control for a couple years. Then I'd be fine with that.
  8. You have taken off the fair trades on video games too much. A fragile 33 year old making $20+ million, a 23 year old Lefty who may only be successful in the BP and a 30 yr old 2 month sensation from Korea for two 20 year old studs... I wish
  9. so lets move up Hader just because he is a top 50 prospect according to MLB Pipeline? You don't move a pitcher up that cant control his fastball. Have you watched Hader pitch this year? It is not just his pitch count. He has control issues right now and he needs time to iron it out. I think Hader is a stud but it is not the time. Woodruff has been the better pitcher for 2 years now while pitching in the same elements. There should not even be a discussion on who gets moved up. Its Woodruff and Espino, that is it. Also, Hader doesn't have a "looping" curveball. He has a nasty sharp breaking slider.
  10. We have brought up the possibility of Mark A and the Brewers just purchasing land and building a stadium for a AAA team. Here a recent article about the Milwaukee county selling land for a minor league affiliate for 26 million. This would be great, but would not be available for a couple of years obviously. Cross your fingers.. http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/blog/real_estate/2016/08/franklin-considers-26-million-plan-to-support.html - old article from August 11th of '16 http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2017/03/05/zimmerman-looks-to-sell-naming-rights-to-franklin.html - recent article from May 5th http://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/news/2017/05/15/milwaukee-county-to-sell-land-for-ballpark-commons.html - updated article from May 15th
  11. How can people call for Hader or Lopez being moved up to the majors? Neither can't get past 5 innings.. We have enough starters that do that already.. There are only two starters that should realistically be called up if they need to (not including Guerra).. Woodruff and Espino and that is it.. end of discussion.. If they do get called up it better be past July or unless they plan on putting them into the BP.
  12. Hold on to good players and try to win? What a radical idea! Exactly! I mean I don't get why some people here don't understand that a lot of the players the Crew has now are young, and part of the future..You look back on all the trade threads here though, and you can find one for a vast majority of players currently on the roster...a lot of which should be part of the future, not trade bait. It almost makes me wonder if a vast majority here will be literally PO'd if the Brewers are in it at the deadline, and don't trade anyone?? That would really baffle me if that happened, but I can almost guarantee some here will be mad about it. If you don't think they are as good as their stats say that is when you would trade them.. ever heard of sell high? .. That's what you do before the league gets a book on them.. I agree they shouldn't trade either because there is no catcher in the weeds other than an 18 yr old Feliciano in A ball.. but to say you don't trade good players is not correct. It is all situational.. you are not going to get alot for either guy so hold on to them and see what we got
  13. Talk about over reaction.. Ray below the Brewers top 20?... looking at your post history.. you are the definition of over reaction and being clueless.. look at his numbers, not only have they gotten worse every year, but so has his fastball velocity.. if you are going to make a trade for a pitcher. Go after one of the Rays pitchers that you have the same length of control and dont have to deal with the locker room cancer... Making a trade for a one card wild card game is useless and defeats the purpose of what they are trying to do.. stay the course and if you make the wild card its gravy..
  14. Off the top of my head this lineup has faced 4/5 top 100 prospect pitchers this yr already, and have really struggled vs them.. tonight Tristan McKenzie dominated the Mudcats lineup with 6 innings and 14 SO. I believe they already faced McKenzie and the same results happened earlier this yr.. Id like to know their stats vs top prospect pitchers they faced this yr.. my guess is its not pretty.. McKenzie is going to be a top pitcher in the league tho IMO.. did anyone watch this game by chance?.. Were the Mudcats chasing alot?
  15. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/prospect-roundup-games-of-may-8-featuring-lucas-sims-brett-phillips-christin-stewart/c-229200458/t-185364810 Here they talk about Phillips hot start, but is it because of where he is hitting? Sure seems to be that way... I kind of wish they had him in AA just to make sure he is hitting well because of his approach and not because of Colorado Springs.. 32 SO in 24 games(1.24 SO /game) is a higher SO rate so far than he lad last yr (1.33) and with a less walk rate as well.
  16. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/latest-news-luis-robert/ More on Luis Robert and where he will end up.. Looking like a good chance he is in the NL and it looks like he might even be in the NL Central to boot.
  17. These are the same questions I would like to find out.. especially the idea that Gatewood just figured out he needed contacts. I tried asking Haudricourt on Twitter and the response I got was that everyone gets a physical.. Didn't answer the question. Anyone can read the top two lines in a physical.. Seeing a ball and its rotation takes more than reading the top two lines.. I haven't seen anything about minor league coaching changes. I understand the scouting and drafting personal is different, but what is different about the player management now that will allow us to be successful in creating top-tier pitchers or smart positional baseball players? These are all great questions i'd love for an insider to enlighten us on.
  18. More proof that the Brewers are in on two OF's from the international signings..
  19. Did you read the article? He had 20/20 when they drafted him. Yes I read the article.. it said he got his eye tested up until 2013 of high school and was 20/20.. nothing about him getting tested after he was drafted by this franchise. What does that have to do with this org. having regular eye exams.. this seems ridiculous.. I'm not sure about u but this should be an obvious priority. I even get a free eye exam every yr from my terrible insurance every year.
  20. For that article on Gatewood How in the hell does a franchise allow any of there players not to get there eyes checked.. That is embarrassing... seeing pitches and knowing what is being thrown at u is essential to being successful for hitters... another example of this organization being behind the eight ball on basic and important topics.. how many other guys need there eyes checked? Smh..
  21. I'm not familiar with the Carolina coaching staff and it is extremely early, but is this the same high A coaching staff we had in Brevard County when they had 100ish losses?.. watching and following this team on milb.TV they strikeout a lot and get a crap ton of outs on the bases.. sound familiar? Erceg and Gatewood have still looked good IMO.. and so has the pitching.. no need to panic or get concerned... yet
  22. yes, I do know many of the international top prospects that have flamed out, but I also know that most of the star players in the game or in the minors were from the international free agency. I never understood fans thinking that the Brewers money is theres'? You HAVE to take chances on these international players to get the top elite players. There is no evidence of us getting any Star players in the draft since the Brauns/Fielder days. so when you have a low payroll these are the times to spend money and take chances. To say they might be a bust and you should not spend on them is only hurting the franchise. drafting and overpaying draft picks is just as much of a risk as international players. Especially, if this is going to be the last time that teams can just spend whatever they want on international players. Texas, Boston, Chicago, and Dodgers have been the top teams to spend internationally the last couple of years. I'd say that worked out quite well for them. loaded major league clubs and loaded minor league players. I know these are big markets, but the fact that Brewers are not even dipping their toe in those waters is disappointing.
  23. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/225439776/cuban-of-luis-robert-cleared-to-sign-with-club/?topicid=151437456 Looks like the teams that overspent last yr will have the opportunity to throw as much money at him as they want.. its sad the Brewers are not in play.. They have no money tied into their payroll. I don't care that he is an outfielder and that is our strength in the minors. This guy looks to be a stud and is young.... There is no reason not to go for this guy.. He can either be a franchise player or down the road you trade him at the TD and get even more prospects.. as long as he lives up to the hype.. There have not been too many disappointments as top international stars like him...
  24. Surprise.. two Cubs are again raking in AAA.. smh http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/prospect-hot-sheet-april-14/#fxMUOVcEO8J2QsLO.97
