  1. Sounds like Gore is 3 and McKay is 4... Rays gotta be in heaven
  2. What positions do you guys think McKay and Greene play?.. I think McKay plays first and Greene pitches
  3. I want Rogers, Warmoth or J.b.. I don't want adell or Peterson
  4. First game at Rookie ball for Luis Robert and he hit a towering shot... should be interesting to watch him going forward
  5. The best minor league systems do though.. The Dodgers the last 2 years have produced some ridiculous elite level talent that have been brought to the majors (Seager, Bellinger, Urias) The Nationals have had a couple (Turner, Devers, AND the elite pitchers they traded away). The Cubs are self Explanatory. The Astros as well. The Braves have a couple elite pitchers it looks like as well as just having Dansby called up and waiting on Albies. I was hoping at least one player could make that jump this year and None have. Gatewood has maybe made the jump to get close to being in the top 100, but no player has jumped into the elite discussion. That is why I have been disappointed so far.
  6. I think this is the big issue when it comes to these debates about the system as a whole. There are no elite level prospects that are going to dominate with huge numbers all the way through the system. We have some guys that will be regulars, maybe even all stars, but those are the kinds of guys that have up and down development cycles. We don't have that guy that is going to OPS 850+ at every singe level. If that is what you are expecting, then you are going to be disappointed. If your expectations are more aligned with the actual talent level, then you are probably in the more optimistic camp. Are you saying there are none, or are you saying we have none in our system? If you are saying the latter I agree. To say there are no elite level prospects who put up around .300 ba and around .850 Ops throughout all minor league systems is just wrong. Robles, Moncada, Rosario, Jimenez, Devers, Mejia, Acuna just to name a few that are top 100 prospects right now that have put up those numbers on all levels.. there are plenty of those examples of guys in the MLB too(look at Keiths Law of Top players under 26 in the MLB, they all raked throughout all of MLB). That is what makes them thought of being the elites of the minor league prospects and elites of MILB)... I agree its not all stats, but stats do tell you some info and for guys like Erceg and Diaz I expected at least their OPS to be much better.. I was hoping one or a couple guys could elevate themselves into the belief of scouts that they are the other elite prospects, but that hasn't happened. Hence why I am a little unimpressed with the minors so far, but there is another half of the season left. Def will be looking for improvements from the Carolina squad.
  7. For me,as the season has continued I have been more dissapointed than anything else.. That is mainly because I look for the top tier prospects to produce or get better throughout the year. Especially when in A+ ball or lower. Diaz, Diplan, Erceg, Clark fall into that category. I have been impressed with some lower ranked prospects that will get a big bump in their ratings in the future. Those are: Feliciano, Gatewood, Harrison, Supak, and Burnes. All in all I have said this team is loaded with depth, but lacks that elite player (s), and this year is showing that to be true again. Outside the AAA team, there are not alot of guys hitting .300 or having an OPS above .800
  8. Another day, another game where Carolina's bats are dead. Erceg and Diaz now at about .225 BA and the OPS is not pretty either.
  9. Going back to 2014 in A+ he had a BB9 of 3.3 then in 2015 it was 3 for the entire season (2.6 and 3.3 between Houston and us in AA) then last year he was 3 in AA then it blew up in AAA and continued again this year. I don't think his control is going to be an issue it seems like it's just in CS. Look at someone like Chase and his BB9 is 3.1 typically. Nobody complains about his lack of control. I haven't seen any articles about this but when you have a wipeout slider like he does your release point is different in CS and on the road (in a spot where a pitch would break how it's expected too). If you're constantly adjusting your release point between starts you're going to have inconsistencies when it comes to your changeup too. Woodruff has better control than Hader to begin with but his breaking ball doesn't move anywhere near as much as Hader so he can get away with it a bit more. I have no idea if Hader is staying in the rotation long-term or not for his career but he's going to be given every opportunity to stick there. I hear this every time. But he has and always has had trouble with fastball control.. he was filthy in AA because of the wipeout slider.. at home or away he rarely throws a first pitch strike ..everyone has games where they get blown up at CS so I could careless about the stats... Woodruff has shown to control his pitches, especially his fastball. I am not, not, blaming CS, but it gets old blaming this place for Haders issues and Lopez issue, but they have been inconsistent with control their whole(young) careers... I love the Hader move because I think he may be a good starter, but I know he will b an elite Bullpen Lefty. Lets get that AA confidence back with him in the limited roles in the bullpen, and when the opportunity arises lets give him his opportunities... also.. I don't want anyone to complain about Knebel, the dude is getting over worked and has elite nasty stuff.. lets start to enjoy him
  10. Amazing game for Jake and Erceg. Erceg had 2 two-out hits and went 4/5. Rough day for Ponce..
  11. Through six innings and Carolina has left the bases loaded 3 times
  12. I have questioned this staff in the past as well, especially after how terrible Brevard County was. Pitching has been the strength while the teams combined batting average is .241 (last in the league). All the other stats (ops & slg) are in the middle of the pact. I don't know this staff and watch them enough to know or think if they should be let go, but in the minors its not all about results but more about development. With that said it still doesn't look good to have this many top prospects struggle, especially with how some of the positional prospects performed for this staff last yr.
  13. Another day, another game where Carolina doesn't get a hit until past the fifth inning. Starting to scratch my head on how this lineup can struggle. They have the worse batting average in the Carolina league. Pretty sad when this lineup and team was ranked in the 10 for most talented minor league teams by baseball America. Starting to believe more and more that this coaching staff is not very good (if this is the same staff from last yrs Brevard County affiliate). Diaz average is now down to .237 and is hitting .088 the last 10 games. On the bright side. Gatewood is still raking (still question how Brewers don't give everyone eye exams) and Ray batted over .290 in the month of May. ALSO, Erceg only has two bb's this season and a .587 OPS, didn't see that coming into the season.
  14. No Espino isn't blocking him. They needed a guy for one start, so Espino made sense. If a starter goes down for a lengthy period or they trade a starter, then it's between Woodruff and Hader. Eventually we could see a 6 man rotation at some point later in the year too. If its for a starting pitcher position I would say its Woodruff or Wilkerson.. Hader has shown he can't locate his FB.. there is a reason Wilkerson is 28 and in AA. They are probably expecting him to jump straight to the majors rather than see his struggle in AAA again. I don't think Wilkerson is anything special, but guys who can't locate in the minors don't all of sudden find there location in the majors. IMO
  15. He didn't play in either games of the double header
  16. Brinson is out of the lineup again as well, resting the wrist or is there a setback? Anyone here anything?
  17. Players across the league have been reported to absolutely have no respect for Ryan Braun after how he handled his positive testing. Rodgers is no longer even talking to him. I will listen and follow how players in the same profession feel about him, because they actually know him personally and understand what it takes to be a PRO.. unlike all of us. Yes, he has had some great moments in Brewers history and will be considered one of the best hitters in Brewers history (not saying too much). But when it comes down to it, I have no respect for the dude.
  18. Not sure where you are getting your stats from: Corey Ray has 372 abs in his career so far. Him and Ian Happ were both college players and have identical stats through there first year and that doesn't include the fact that Ray is coming off knee surgery. Settle down on him, he is going to be fine. Umm... not to be condescending, but where are you getting your stats from? Ray has 415 plate appearances (ABs + walks + HBP + sac flies/hits) of which 372 count as at-bats. Happ had a .885 OPS in the Carolina League (the same league Ray has been in) in Happ's second season (Ray is in his second season as well). Ray has a .756 OPS. Those aren't even close. I was looking on milb.com.. but you are correct, I didn't count the walks and HBP.. My bad.... As for the OPS on May 24th of Happs second yr he was at .830. yes, still better, but that doesn't include the fact that Ray is working off a surgically repaired knee. I know Happ's numbers were a little better at this stage, but Ray has really turned the corner the last month it seems. Happ had double the amount of ab's that Ray has had in Carolina league so far. But I think going forward I will be comparing these two alot. Shall be interesting to see where Rays numbers r by the end of the yr.
  19. Your argument wasn't good and that wasn't my only response. I'll replay your first message towards me though for you the way I read it. It is one month don't get carried away. -This is probably all you really needed to say, even though there was no getting carried away with him. I do it here and there too but there is definitely a way to write a post to someone and comments like I can't wait to come back and stick it to you when a guy sucks, is not a great way to go about things. Nor is finishing with I'm sorry you are so sensitive after being a jerk to someone over something so silly. Pretty much the response I expected from a guy who has yet to make a compelling argument on this topic. Are you 15 yr old teenage girl? I'll leave another one for you: Garza teams he has pitched against this year Cincinnati Atlanta Pittsburgh Mets San Diego Toronto Combined record so far this year is 117 - 154. Half of those teams are last in their division right now.
  20. I am by no means EVER saying that Garza is a stud. I don't think anyone has every said that recently of him. I do think however he can be a fine piece to a rotation if health continues. He's started the year well, minus today, and I do expect him to be a mid to lower 3 ERA guy if he's all fine. You're being an ass for absolutely no reason on this one. Where did I call Garza a stud or say you called him a stud? You called him a very good pitcher who is healthy this yr. I argued with it by backing it up with stats and my viewpoint, without attacking you personally. If you can't handle a good argument and your only response is to call me an ass, then I'm sorry you are so sensitive.
  21. Because he is healthy this yr? Didn't he miss the first couple of weeks because of an injury? So if he gets hurt in June/July then what? You are willing to look past 2 years because of one good month. I can't wait to come back to this message when Garza comes back down to earth. There are alot of players pitching over there heads (Morton, Vargas, Santana, Ray) and some are struggling (Cueto, Verlander, Kluber). It is one month don't get carried away. So you can play fantasy with an injury that hasn't occurred yet but I can't state how good of a pitcher Garza was FOR SEVEN YEARS before a series of injuries the past two season? Okay, got it. Moving on.... yeah that was 3/4 years ago.. So in your eyes Pujols is still an elite hitter and Matt Cain is a stud ace... getting old has its effects and Garza has not shown to do it a full year since 2014 and two years before that he never pitched more than 84 innings. Garza is what he is, a pitcher who is hot (even though he had a dud today) who will come back down to earth by the end of the year or even by All star break. To overlook the terrible last 2 years or 4 of the last 5 years because of one month this yr makes no sense.
