  1. Unless the team thinks they are in a wildcard race, I think Prince goes down for the playoffs when Clark returns.
  2. You get the feeling some of these moves are being done because others need to move up. There certainly are worse situations to be in, huh?
  3. 84% does seem high, I would have thought 65-70%. EDIT: Misread graph, I guess.
  4. I don't know what another year at AAA would do for him. A 3rd year of nearly identical numbers? Dave is making John Sickels a genius, as JS said Dave looked to be a bench guy, and he certainly does at this point. If he projects to be a bench guy, it would surely seem to make sense to plop him on the bench in MIL and let him pinch-run and go into play D in the 8th and 9th. He's still plenty young enough to improve, but his secondary numbers are horrible. Right now, Krynzel is a tools guy who isn't looking like he's going to hit his potential.
  5. Actually, Ben H would still be the best SP prospect in many organizations.
  6. Many of us would have him in that #5 role in '06, working with the big league staff. He's got PR and defensive skills, a perfect skill set for a 5th OF (not to mention, he can't hit at all).
  7. 2004--.327/.411 2005--.330/.422 Krynzel is basically a HR ahead of mirroring his '04 numbers. Considering how much of a step forward Weeks, Prince, Hart, etc. took this year, Dave's done nothing except show he'd be getting out 70% of the time in MIL.
  8. Forecasting OXS isn't difficult to get close, just by using career numbers and how old they are. Many folks don't get it though, as the number of folks who think Clark is having a "career" year seems to prove.
  9. I find it funny that someone is using "Barry Neffield" to argue for the existence of heart. Ironic because, both Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield are outstanding players, and will both be Hall of Famers someday. If anything, they prove how unimportant heart is, and how talent wins games.
  10. Wes had a good ERA in relief, about 3.50 I think. That'll be his role, he just needs to throw strikes and hit the corners.
  11. Teams like the RedSox, Cards, Braves, Twins, Angels, would have found a way to get atleast one run if not two runs last night in the 8th inning without getting a hit I'd just like to point out that the Twins have scored fewer runs than the Crew...even though they use the DH and not a P. Makes everything else said moot to me.
  12. If the BBTN guys don't get it, it's tough to expect the casual fan to. As I say every time I see it, ESPN needs a FOX News like competitor to shake things up. ESPN is just like CNN used to be, full of themselves and rather than reporting the news, go around making it up (50 States in 50 Days!).
  13. I'm not sure about lead off, but I still hope he can at least play CF at a level where he can back up all 3 spots in 2006. He obviously has speed and tools, yet has never put it together in the field. I'm not sure how long Krynzel has to put up a 750 OPS at AAA before some folks stop projecting him as a 750+ OPS guy in the bigs, but for me, a season and a half is plenty. Note...Krynzel is still plenty young enough to someday be mediocre offensively, but I'm not expecting it to be 2006.
  14. Never heard of Craig Breslow, but a 7 ERA doesn't show much potential. Live arms, live arms.
  15. Lee, still with a chance to be a Tony Fossas type. Too bad no one ever lets him throw some relief innings to put him in that role.
  16. I hope someone sits Prince down and tells him to quit worrying about a bunch of has beens and never wases say about him. Tell them to shut up and score some runs, instead of whining about it.
  17. I would assume Bennett has lost a lot of weight and strength since he got sick. They probably figure it'll be a while before he's able to pitch.
  18. Cruz had a rather long swing, just like I said about Hart after his 1 PA. He's the anti-Weeks.
  19. Years ago, Kerry Lightenburg was offered to the Twins after a successful indy season, and MIN proudly stated, "We don't sign indy league players", according to Sid Hartman. Sounds like it's still the case.
  20. Davis is a generic middle reliever, I think he throws a slightly plus fastball and a breaking ball. As I said, he's a bit generic, but his AAA secondary numbers are outstanding, meaning he'd at least be a decent 11th/12th man. Long term, such rotation hopefuls as Ben H, Dennis S, etc. may man those spots, but if someone offered enough for Santana/Botallico, et al, it's nice having Kane at AA to hold down the fort.
  21. Note that Corey Hart replaced Corey Hart in the Nashville game. I forgotm about Kane Davis, who while nothing but a middle reliever, could allow the Crew to deal another middle reliever (or Santos).
  22. Some guy named Hart is 2 for 3 with a double. Wait 'til he fixes that elbow thing.
  23. I think it's hilarious that folks think a kid that played SS in college will not be able to play 3B. It'll be a while before he shows whether he can play the hot corner or not (Weeks still is not a "proven" 2B two years later), but to say he cannot is ridiculous.
  24. That's less than a HR every 11 innings. Hardly seems a problem.
  25. It's astounding to me how these AAA vets go to indy ball and for the most part, hit like Bill Hall in '05. Heck, even 1st round draftees that go there usually hit about .350 or so.
