  1. Does anyone know how it works to release an injured player in the minors? It seems strange to "release" a player within a few hours of him getting injured, does the Crew still cover his insurance? Would "buyout" be a more accurate term?
  2. He has a shot at the bigs as a lefty reliever. Good luck to him.
  3. It was nice that Kevin and Chad played a couple extra games, as they could have left 6/15. Gave the Crew time to find replacements. Odd though that they would not choose to stay, as the Brewers have made it clear with Borders that they would not keep a player from going to the bigs.
  4. LHP's with plus arms get every chance.
  5. I think Warren Morris could be a nice reserve IF/LH PH in the bigs. I find it hard to believe he didn't have a job.
  6. I'd have him between 5-7. He certainly has a much higher ceiling than Krynzel, for example.
  7. On the "small sample" note of the week, I believe Helling is the best starter at AAA right now.
  8. Draft day, without a doubt. Much of the Weeks news occured late Friday afternoon, and much of the daily traffic happens at work.
  9. Also, the weather and outdoor recreation opportunities make it likely a Canadian would find Milwaukee to be an attractive place to make it a career.
  10. Um, yes those 36 AB's prove Midre Cummings...oh, please.
  11. A co-worker of mine watched Saw and said it was outstanding. Great film with a totally unexpected twist near the end, he said.
  12. To be honest, I gotta wonder if Kremblas and Money are a bit out of touch. Years ago, I read an article that drill instructors in the military had stopped yelling and swearing at the recruits, as it simply didn't work anymore. The kids either ignored them or shrugged their shoulders, as they'd heard much worse back home. I'm not sure if it had any effect on the "roster filler", but I promise you Prince and Rickie could give a rat's behind what Frank says.
  13. I would say if Anderson makes the bigs, it will almost surely be as a reliever. He will not ever be 150 inning man.
  14. The Twins took Joe Mauer's brother as a "courtesy", and I have to believe the Crew might be willing to bump him up a couple rounds.
  15. I have to agree with Bill that Braun looks pretty impressive, not sure how a comparison to Sean Burroughs can occur when the guy had a .723 SLG, and has the athletic ability to play SS. .400 BA with 30 walks in 200 AB's is enough to make me a believer. Of course, I've heard Maybin is a lock if still there...
  16. Hart is rebounding to a nice AAA season, but his translation, like last year, has him as a weak corner OF at best. While a .120 BA is simply a silly prediction, he wouldn't figure to put up much more than a 750 OPS. I'd rather see him playing every day, working on his game.
  17. Team America is very funny if you think the Hollywood left deserves to be mocked. The idea many were very upset (Sean Penn wrote a letter!) makes it even funnier.
  18. Nelson started off hot, Hart cold, and now they are pretty close. Small samples are meaningless.
  19. Just wanted to throw out that despite one starting hot and starting off cold, Brad Nelson and Corey Hart are now hitting almost the idenical BA. Funny how thoase April numbers tend to work their way back to what you'd expect by the end of May.
  20. There's a lot of talent in that young man's arm. I'm sure he'll get plenty of chances. Seems very "quick", you have to wonder if other issues came into it.
  21. Personally, I think Drew will be a better player than any of the 3B. I'd take Maybin if he were available, if not, I'd take Drew and spend the dough.
  22. So, obviously the poker sites can easily check the IP's on their own site. Thanks Brian.
  23. Brian, how hard is it to trace IP's? I'm asking mainly for the "bonus whores" on the poker boards who think they are indetectable, as they set up 2-5 accounts to maximize a good bonus.
  24. Can someone save Toby's quote that Calix will force Weeks to 3B? I wonder if Rickie remains at 2B, and Crabbe might make the bigs, but I can't imagine that scenario taking place. Also, does Brad have the arm necessary to play RF every day? If he does, that might move him up a notch.
  25. WEEKS!!!!! 4RBI already, another dinger, and a triple. Overrated.
