  1. Must have switched to annually, as it seemed like it had been 6 months. Thanks.
  2. Brian, when is the next time you need to ask for money to support the site? Just curious.
  3. Weeks is overrated anyway. Hee-hee.
  4. I did like Gwynn better, as I doubted either would be a starting CF. Now, however, it appears Dave will at least be a platoon CF for a while. Dave has moved up, in my view.
  5. << Chris Magruder's splits: RHB .293 .319 .504 .823 LHB .196 .269 .313 .582>>>Facts have no place in this debate.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. <<>> They used to say the same thing about Brady Clark...some of the truly uninformed still do. Role players need to be set up for success. John Lowenstein and Gary Roenicke formed a good platoon for the Orioles for years, after being written off by many as being nothing but filler. If you're going to have a switch-hitting OF on the roster who hits LH's pretty well, and you don't play him versus a LHP when your LH hitting OF who doesn't hit LHP well is getting over the flu...well, there's no reason to have him on the roster.
  7. AC in hotels always goes on and off. He should have unplugged the TV. Hard to believe a career underachiever (until LY) is a blessed idiot.
  8. Overbay is walking a ton, I would let him play. Geoff would get a start off, however. I would likely go with Helms over Cirillo as well, if Perez does start.
  9. <<>> Oh Brian. Who could possibly have been saying that since he was drafted? If Gwynn has a Brady Clark-like career (minus the breakout at 32), he will be in the top 10% percentile of 2nd rounders. Seriously though, Gwynn was drafted less than 2 years ago (as was Weeks). The overreaction to these two fellas supposed "failings" has been a sign of not understanding many players would still be in low A ball. As for Prince, he's still outperforming Hart, in a minute sample. I'm far from concerned.
  10. >>>By the way, I asked Jeff Winchester why he and John Vanden Berg weren't playing more behind the plate, and he said that this was what the Brewer organization wanted....... They like Rottino, but want him to play a position. So they're trying to develop Rottino behind the plate, which explains why Don Money continues to play him there, despite the kind of (ahem!) defense he's played. Rottino added another passed ball on a 3rd strike to his resume tonight in the 3rd inning>>> So, should we have Vinny learning on the job in the major leagues (albeit, that's assuming he hits enough at AA & AAA to earn a shot)? That's what AA is for, teaching and developing your potential big leaguers.
  11. Playing a team 32 times, hilarious. I wanted to mention that the Nashville and H-ville games were all but identical. No one else has.
  12. Makes perfect sense to me Brian. I get about 10% of your traffic, and the e-mails have been about 90% casual fans asking questions about why Cirillo doesn't start. Really. When the team does start to win, the diehard, serious fans will be even more of a minority. Of course, I've received no less than 25 e-mails asking who the closer will be from fantasy geeks. And I always tell them the same thing... ...Gary Glover. I should, but I am always truthful, because I was raised wrong.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Congrats on the press Brian, there is no such thing as bad publicity, unless you are Michael Jackson.
  13. Ramblings just keeps riding your coattails, Brian. Congrats on the article, and keep sending people over. By far the best week in AR's history as well.
  14. That's a team all but devoid of AAA roster filler, you can look at every single player and deem them either a prospect or major league reserve (Trent, Pat, Matt). That's a lot different than years past.
  15. D, if the dream appears unattainable, it gets a lot less "fun" leaving your bride and riding buses for 6 months.
  16. No offense to Terry T, but he had a 700 OPS in low a ball last year. I would guess he may have seen the writing on the wall...and wasn't Mrs. T quite a looker? No use missing several months when you're slated to be back in low A, or a reserve in high A.
  17. Well, if Gamble is at AA, I think it's safe to say the Nashville staff is full.
  18. Deevers looked lost when I saw him last year. I thought he'd top out at low A...athleticism?
  19. The funny thing is, if Gwynn makes it as a reserve OF with speed and defense, as many of us think he will, he will have a career in the top 10-20% of 2nd rounders. I'd take the best player in every round I thought I could sign...while taking a risk or five in later rounds, knowing I had about an extra million to spend. With our top players in the higher levels of the system, I might look to take 4-5 players and hope to sign a 2-3 of them, not stars, but guys with 5th-10th round talent that have stated they want to go to college. Taken in the 35th round, pursue them hard, talk about the system with them, etc. Or, just go after a Latino player with that $750K.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. For whatever reason, Gwynn has been mentioned in the same breath as Weeks and Fielder for his 1.5 years with the team. I'm sure many folks think he's a top prospect, rather than a speedster who projects as a reserve. I would guess that was the reason for the "large" ovation.
  21. One thing I admire about Melvin, he truly offers AAAA type players every chance to find a big league job. While I realize Mark Johnson is hardly anything but a dime a dozen reserve C, albeit with some OBP ability, I'd just as soon have him at AAA along with Pat Borders. But, I assume the Cubs asked about him, and Doug sent him on his way for roster filler.
  22. Hilarious. This is the same day Yost was quoted as saying Clark shouldn't be diving in the OF, and that Jenkins, who let a ball get past him, played it right. It's March, it's meaningless. Get a grip.
  23. Brian, I sure don't see Brad Nelson not playing OF, unless he has an arm injury. The article would seem to have him in AAA, which may have changed in the last week or so.
  24. To be honest, the best bet to have press credentials is to have Bill/Colby/Mass (or all of them share) write for a small paper or syndicate their work to a few small papers, perhaps a Sunday column during the season, monthly in the offseason. I've thought of this, but then realized it would involve deadlines and actual work.
  25. I've posted stuff at Ramblings and got a stern e-mail or two. That said, it's only when I've posted the whole article, and not summarized it. For the most part, anything except copying the whole article seems acceptable.
