  1. Again, roster filler, but roster filler that can egt on base. I was I could be roster filler.
  2. 712 K's in 770 innings...the guy must throw hard.
  3. You can't teach size or velocity.
  4. Porter could spend a couple years as a Mark Sweeney type. Thurman is a nice former prospect to pick up for free.
  5. I would say Larry Hany is semi-retired, and does what is asked of him by Doug Melvin. I'd say he is a cross-checker of sorts.
  6. It's a nice page, Jamie. I really don't have the power to do much with it. I'm sure Brian will let you know, he's a busy fella of late.
  7. Jamie, it seems to be password protected.
  8. I find it hard to believe ZIPS doesn't look a bit more at Hardy's last 4 months. I kind of think 300+ AB's is a bit of a pattern to follow.
  9. Done. Just a note, Brian, it still says Brewerfan.com.
  10. He's been a perennial solid starter in AAA, ERA almost always in the high 3's. I was unaware he threw a knuckleball, just thought he was a 6th/7th starter type.
  11. Great to see Johnson back, and Abernathy is better than Sorenson (though, that's not saying much:).
  12. If it looks like AAA fodder and smells like AAA fodder...
  13. He didn't run well in the second half of his career at least, so you'd expect them to be close...however, that's astounding.
  14. I will be donating 5% of my online winnings for the month of November, so root for me, Brian. Of course, as always, 75% will be headed straight for the Red Cross...
  15. Or, you could do both. EDIT: Just signed up, takes 2 minutes.
  16. Robert, I felt the same way about The Terminal, big letdown. Napolean Dynamite and Anchorman were OK, but I expected more after hearing so many good things.
  17. Hoffman used to throw a lot harder, 95+. Not sure anymore.
  18. Wise throws a decent fastball, 87-89, but his money pitch is that change. He threw a lot more fastballs as the season wore on, to keep hitters off balance.
  19. OXS treats OBP and SLG as equals, and is a better stat. But, few folks can multiply .350 and .475 quickly in thier heads. I can sure add 'em together though, and the difference is minimal.
  20. If Wolfe is a single guy, his answer makes a lot of sense, as she'd keep him busy.
  21. I don't think there's a player who needs reps on defense more than Fielder in the game. Considering he lost a lot of time sitting on the bench, he didn't even get his full AAA season of D in.
  22. I guess I just don't get this. The reliever should be "blamed" somehow if runners already on base scores? So if 2 pitchers come in and get 3 outs, yet one of them comes in with 2 guys on and they score, he did a poorer job? Inherited runers is as flawed a stat as exists, as it blames a pitcher for his bad luck. A runner on 3B/0 outs counts the same as a runner on 1B/2 outs. Also, you find consistent performance in this is rare, much like "clutch hitting". I would say it is mostly good fortune. A good stat might be to take runs scored and divide it by "expected runs" So if a reliever comes into 10 games in situations where the opponent's "expected runs" is 13.5, and allows 8, his number would be 8/13.5, or .593...anything under 1 would be better than expected, I guess. Heck, maybe it's done, and just not getting any publicity. I
  23. Russ, that chart shows Carlos ended up with the amount of RBI's you would "expect" him to, based on runners? How ironic, I thought it was all clutch. RBI's are a counting stat, and while not worthless, is like using wins to decide who was a better pitcher. And yes, John Kruk does both. Sad, isn't it?
  24. In my opinion, Mass, you're list includes kids who are unlikely to ever be more than a role player in the bigs. I want to see Prince work on his defense and Dana not suck far more than I want to see a Josh Habel "type" throw a few innings. The AFL is designed to be a league for the best to go there and work on their game, an instructional league for fine prospects, if you will. The idea an out-of-shape kid like Eveland doesn't think he needs any work is probably why he compiled a 6 ERA while never facing any hitter twice. Goodness, he threw 10 more innings than he did in '04, whew, wipe that sweat from your eyes, son.
