Rob Deer was actually a pretty good player at least as a batter. What I meant to say was Thames either homers or strikes out. An all or nothing hitter. Just like Gorman and Deer.
Which makes his OPS such an overrated joke of an argument. Who cares that his slugging percentage is so high when his 29 home runs are almost all solo shots? The batter has zero control over how many players are on base when he steps to the plate. Unless there is a reliable clutchiness stat out there I'll take OPS as a pretty good stat. Edit: Point taken, he stinks with RISP this year If Thames was clutch he would hit those extra base hits and homers when men are on base. Instead he's a sub .240 hitter that strikes out alot and when he actually does get those extra base hits to drive up his slugging percentage, nobody's on base. EDIT: I just saw your edit now.

I just think that being in a pennant race right now it's too risky to depend on a green minor leaguer to keep you in the thick of things, especially when we have an offense that has a harder time scoring than Beavis and Butthead.
No they're not good enough, but it would be really nice if they could at least manage to get five hits against sub par teams like the Pirates and Reds, and so far this is looking like another one or two hit night.
We do great against good teams (Dodgers, Nationals, Cubs) We do bad against bad teams (Giants, Reds, Pirates) We're playing the Pirates, whom we have a 5-8 record against. Have you not been watching this year?
Am I crazy or was there a dome stadium that had falling panels/debris falling from the roof a few years ago? If Marlins Park's roof is that damaged to the point that could also happen there than the series would be moved for sure.
