    Guys, all of our top prospects can't possibly not only make the pros but be impact type players let's trade the ones we think aren't and let's make the fricking playoffs. This board as a whole has to get out of the "small market" mentatlity. Our payroll is almost $90 million!!!!

    The Harden and Gaudin package on paper didn't appear to be overly costly. From all accounts it appears to be a very safe bet that Gamel or Escobar are going absolutely nowhere, that's a good thing.

    If we're really "going for it" how about Street and Ducherrerr (sp?) in a package. Alot us seem to be worried about the prospects we have lost but won't the minor league system be replenished with the draft from 2008 and the potential draft pick haul for 2009 and we have 2 "impact" prospects in Gamel and Escobar who apparently are major league ready. This will allow to trade Hardy (who apparently has quite a bit of value) and fill the closers role for cheap (or at least cheaper than going FA route).

    I read a major league scout said Laporta projects to be an average major leaguer, he said Gamel is an impact bat and Escobar is basically untouchable per Rosenthal, maybe a Hardy package this offseason for McGowan or Cain. Plus all the picks we should get. Melvin will have alot of deal making to be done this off-season. Oh yeah the subject of this thread WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! that man is a stud, let' see what he can do against the Cardinals and the Cubs in his next 2 starts.

    Fielder for Halladay sounds absolutely great, especially for us, Gamel to 1b and starting staff would get the #1 starter we desperately need and maybe just maybe the Brew could ink one of out potental Fa's. If you're going to spend money you might as well buy starters. PITCHING KILLS GUYS!!!

    FYI Hall made a HUGE error in this series with Cincy in like the 8th or 9th inning, however Branyan made an error in the Rockies series which was the difference in a 4-3 game. BTW can anyone tell me how Braun is grading out defensively this year, I know he has no errors but that doesn't always tell the whole story, I didn't want to start a new thread. Thanks BIG win today!!! Brew will have their hands full with Cain and Lincecum

    Rillo what kind of thinking is that? Nothing is a guarantee, we all should be doing backflips that this mangement team has put this team in position to make the playoffs because of this deal, that would be a first since what 82? I have no idea how this trade can't be embraced or have we been losers for so long we don't know how to act like winners?

    If indeed we could get Cain w/o giving up LaPorta I end negotiations with the Indians immediately. I'm not that would be the case but we would control Cain for 2 or 3 years, I think 3 more. Not sure if he's available but definitely would at least call up Mr. Sabean.

    Let's get on the phone to the Giants, Cain would be a better choice anyway. Shapiro is smoking crack if he thinks he should get 2 of AA prospects. This guy better know what he's doing because this is the type of trade people lose their jobs over!!

    If Cleveland doesn't pull the trigger by Sunday night, Melvin better stick to his guns and pull this deal off the table. I would love to see Shapiro end up taking less and having to explain that to his boss and the fans of Cleveland.

    With the Brew solidly in the playoff chase, sellouts are going to be the norm the rest of the way, with or without CC. Of course he can't hurt. GO BREW!!! I'm guessing we hear something by Sunday night if we're going to get this guy. That should give Shapiro enough time to make the best deal. If Kershaw is being offered the Brew might be in trouble.

    When you trade the reigning Cy Young Award winner you have to give the appearance that you're doing your do-diligence. But jimminee christmas if Shapiro takes the deal from the Brewers he will win the PR battle, how did he get a top Ten prospect from the Brewers for a guy they were going to lose. This looks like a win-win!! Before the trade I thought the atmosphere in Miller Park was excellent but if we get this guy.. to quote a famous commentator "OH MY"!!!!!

    Sabathia is scheduled to pitch Tuesday, we have 48 hours to realistically get him up here, take the physical etc..... I hope Cleveland doesn't drag this out, if they do DM could pull the plug publicly and make Shapiro look like an idiot if push comes to shove and especially if Shapiro ends up taking a lesser deal. LaPorta, Green & Cain what is Stupiro waiting for. It's Christmas come in July take the deal MS!!!!

    If we have offered LaPorta what the heck is Shapiro waiting for? Hard for me to believe anyone is going to offer that kind of player to Indians (Laporta).

    I guess he could but has he ever played there? and if we're planning on trading Fielder this off-season someone has to play there? I have not heard that Gamel has touched a 1b man's glove, can he go and play 75 games at 1b be called our next 1b? I don't know the answer to that.
