  1. If LaPorta goes is there a chance something might be up with Fielder's contract situation?
  2. This deal has to be done for only 1 reason (PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR). Brantley is considered 1 of the big prospects at AA http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif To give up a Top Ten talent the rest of the package shouldn't be that much more. My question is if the Brewers have offered LaPorta why hasn't Cleveland taken the deal??? They should be thrilled to get a prospect like that for their (OF) or 1b for a rental.
  3. Luke, Sabathia will not be re-signed, he is supposedly asking for Santana money. This will be a rental, we'll get 2 picks for CC and most likely Sheets. After thinking about this LaPorta, Gamel, Escobar & Jeffress should be held out of this deal. What about Brantley, Green & Braddock (or another pitcher of some consequence) or we could include Salome. All 4 of the above guys most likely could have starting spots and we need those cheap slots to re-sign a few of our "stars". The Brewers are well positioned this off-season due to 1 year contracts to really re-focus their money. Gagne, Mota, Cameron & Sheets come off the books. That's like $30 million dollars.
  4. How about Qualls, Pena or Cruz from AZ?
  5. Hopefully DM can get this done quickly, every start counts!!!!!
  6. Fuentes is an obvious choice but approx 10-15 teams supposedly are talking to the Rockies about him, do we need another lefty, what about Sherrill from Baltimore, he might be available?
  7. This has to be addressed, Mota can't be relied to pitch in any big situations so what can the Brewers do. What closers are available? (move Torres back to the 8th) or what setup guys are available. Cubs lose Cardinals getting killed, I'm sick!!!!
  8. I think McPhail is a terrific GM, with that being said there is zero and I mean zero chance we trade any of "super 5" prospects for Brian Roberts and whatever other trinkets AM would want to throw in. If 1 of those guys goes it will be for Sabathia.
  9. Welcome aboard Pappas. Doesn't McPhail overvalue all of his players?
  10. McGee is the Tampa prospect who needs TJ. They still have Davis & Price, both very close to the majors, I would think TB us looking for offense.
  11. Excellent info Molitor, is anyone interested in winning on this board, don't mortgage the future??? Draft picks etc.. I never hear about how badly any of want the Brewers to win. Why don't we trust Jack Z & DM a little bit, if they feel we could trade Hardy and go with Escobar so we lose a little offense, pitching wise we would be very very tough and also would be very tough in a playoff series with BS, CC & Parra probably being the 3 starters, maybe Suppan would get a start as well. The door is as open for the playoffs as might ever be, look at the standings, its us, Cardinals and Marlins above .500, THAT's IT for the wildcard. Its time to stop always worry about our minor league system, guys on here are still dying over the Linebrink trade, get over it guys!!! Time to win and get some postseason experience. GO BREW!!
  12. Hernandez is on the DL right now, I would speak to Bedard's agent and ask the guy about his "thoughts" of palying in Milwaukee, if the guy is going to be a jerk in Milwaukee then PASS
  13. Guys you can save the internet space, Sheets and Fielder are not going anywhere unless we collapse before the JUly deadline. Take a look at our July schedule, lots of home games, very unlikely. In case you guys haven't checked we're 2 games out of the wildcard.
  14. I am in total agreement with this sentiment. Brewer Management failed to take a chance and I would think before the season coming off all of the injuries BS would have jumped at a 4 yr deal for say $52 million, now it may cost $80 million or above. Acquiring an ace will probably cost Fielder or LaPorta and that won't improve us that will help replace BS. At some point, I would have no problem replacing Melvin with Jack Z!! Melvin basically has nothing to show for his trades currently as the Brewer GM. I will say he has picked up some nice nuggets but on the trading front he is not helping this team get over the top, hopefully the boys on the field can do it themselves because they ain't getting much help. I reserve the right to change my opinion if Melvin can get Sabathia or someone lights out to pitch the 8th inning http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go BREW
  15. I'm sorry, I went to Wrigley this year and it is a DUMP. Not only is it the most overrated venue it is a total HOLE. Sorry guys I don't see it. Miller Park by a landslide. In regard to the ticket thing, that actually is a very good plan, I would think teams especially teams hurting for revenue should look into that, just as long as the teams are responsible for the face value of the ticket in regards to revenue sharing etc...
  16. There is no way in THIS WORLD that Royals trade is even remotely fair. Gordon has been a HUGE dissappointment.
  17. I'm 1 million % in favor of replay, for example, had Fielders ball been a HR that game would have have hurt even more. I know I know it wasn't but teams around the league have had Hr's taken away from them, if a simple call to a review monitor is all it takes and an umpire has a "bluetooth" in his ear, man isn't this a no-brainer??
  18. Would Weeks, Gillespie & a pitching prospect get this done? If Cleveland continues to backpedal they can't take the draft picks for C.C, on the other hand your offer has to be better than 2 picks so hence the above trade. Supposedly, the guy wants $20 million a year, so doubtful Cleveland would bite at that. This is exactly the guy we need (presuming we're still in it) to bring home the Wild Card!!! If we can go 6-3 or better in this homestand what do you guys think? would we be in "go for it" mode?
  19. For a rest of the season rental I think there is (ZERO) chance of us trading Laporta or Gamel and probably throw in Escobar and maybe Jeffress (drug thing might change DM's thoughts). Now Salome I could see going in a deal, not sure how other teams view him as a prospect.
  20. I know this pick will hurt some of the Brewer faithful but the Cubs need (OF) help. Fukodome will be moving to (CF) and although I can't project how good this guy will be I see him moving to AA fairly quickly, from there, who knows. The pick Mat Gamel. I see him terrorizing the Brewers for years to come http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif This was fun idea, enjoyed it very very much!!!
  21. This note to Yost, please put Cameron in for defense, especially when Kapler makes the last out in the top of the inning, also Nedley UWM is offering a Managing 101 course, this I think would complete your ASSociates degree.
  22. Jeff I have all the blues from last year, why don't you PM me with what your willing to pay. I think these sell for $25-$30? Thanks, Mike
  23. No chance LaPorta goes into a deal like that, Greinke is pitching well now but check his history, the guy has ALOT of baggage, take it from a guy who lived in KC for along time!!!
  24. Ok, let me preface this pick by saying I"M NOT A HOMER, as much as I love another guy from this draft I have to take Ryan Braun, we tried RB at 3b and had the same defensive concerns so we to have moved him to OF and RB also has signed a long term contract to play in the desert (thank goodness this is fantasy). Ryan Braun U. of Miami is my pick with the #1 pick!!!
