  1. Again, LHB's had an OPS under .600 against him this year. That's literally better than Hader's OPS against RHB's.
  2. Just looked but he's allowed at least 1 base runner in 9 of his last 11 outings. covering 3.2IP of outs. 11 baserunners in 11outs. He's been terrible, but not as terrible as Jeffress this series. That's well within the limits of normal fluctuation in baseball. It's way too small of a sample to judge him on. I haven't counted all his ground ball hits, but I know there have been several. LHB's had a .574 OPS against him this year. They hit .570 against Jennings. Drake and Boone were terrible, but it's not fair to transfer all that frustration to Jennings and Cedeno.
  3. Machado, easily. Big difference between cockiness and trying to hurt dudes. It's so not even close. Sigh. Make it interesting please.
  4. Well, if batter a hits and gets on base, that is by definition not getting the batter out. To a larger point, maybe there is something wrong with the defensive shifting when Cedeno pitches. Small sample size, perhaps. But maybe the defensive positioning needed adjusting with Cedeno on the mound. But getting ground balls definitely means he can get lefties out and deserves a chance to. When those ground balls get through the infield, it doesn't mean he can't get them out; it just means he didn't on that particular occasion, because baseball.
  5. It's certainly not good but it's not Cedeno's fault that Boone and Drake sucked so much. Cedeno has been getting a lot of ground balls and that's all you can ask.
  6. Another ground ball hit against Cedeno. Now everyone will keep saying he sucks and can't get lefties out. Dang.
  7. Probably, but that should have been Granderson's spot regardless. Could hardly imagine an easier choice. No double-switch concerns, no concerns about the Dodgers switching pitchers, almost impossible to imagine a more appropriate time to use Granderson... sucks man.
  8. I keep hearing the season is over but the game's still on. I think I might be hallucinating. If I start posing weird apocalypse crap, send help.
  9. I think he should face Bellinger. That's what he's here for. He's no lock to get him out, but neither is anyone else. I meant to say Muncy.
  10. I think he should face Bellinger. That's what he's here for. He's no lock to get him out, but neither is anyone else.
  11. Good thing you didn't use Santana or Granderson with 2 runners on so you can save them for this high-leverage situation.
  12. Man. Hate to bring in an RHP for Bellinger but they'll probably have to. Doesn't Hader have a hit this year?
  13. At least we can take comfort in the knowledge that the Brewers aren't stealing signs when they get a runner on second.
  14. Absolutely. Hope they can keep Moustakas but I doubt it. If he doesn't turn his nose up at fair offers like he did last winter, he will get a better deal than his option. Not as much per year, but more security. Might bet on himself to get an even better deal after his option year though.
  15. They're fine; just biding their time. Under the circumstances, you're not going to match the energy you get from going up 4-1 in the bottom of the first in an elimination game. That's too high of a bar.
  16. Disliked ... but we all get the fact that may have been the best shot he had to get a hit vs a fastball cause he sure can’t hit anything else lol. And you don’t want to burn your good PH’s early that’s for sure ! It’s a move you can maybe not love but understand There's no concern about burning your PH early. You're only going to use him once, and you had a chance to use him against an RHP with 2 runners on. What more do you want? The real danger is that you don't find the right occasion to use him later (ahem, Kershaw in the pen!) and then you wake up tomorrow and realized you somehow found a way to use Jonathon Schoop in a game 7 but didn't find a plate appearance for Granderson.
  17. Is using Schoop instead of Granderson there the first IGT criticism of Counsell since the playoffs started that basically everyone hated? Seems like it. Hader can and should go 3-4 innings. All the more reason to use Granderson though, because you might let Hader hit and then that's one less PH you need. So you didn't have to force Schoop in there.
  18. The inning is not as important as the context. With RISP you dont want to use your worst ph Exactly. What better situation do you want for using Granderson? It will be such a waste if he gets his plate appearance with 2 on and nobody out. Runs at this stage of the game count just as much as runs later in the game.
  19. I think they should have used Granderson there. Who knows if he even gets a chance to face an RHP later anyway, and in such a great position to do some damage. They're only going to use him for one at-bat, and it would be hard to draw up a better situation. I guess they're planning on so many pitching changes that they'll need all their PH's anyway, but I don't agree with that logic. You can't be sure the pitcher's spot will come up more than 3 times.
  20. I think we saw last night how valuable a walk can be. Everyone wants to talk about the RBI double but it was huge to just take a walk on 4 pitches in his first plate appearance. If they're pitching around you, don't force the issue. Don't chase. Then they couldn't dance around Aguilar as much, and Aguilar broke out of his slump in the next at-bat. It may not have been a simple cause-and-effect case there, and it may be that Ryu was going to give up a lot of runs anyway, but in general that's a big part of why OBP is so important, even if hits get all the highlights. It raises pitch counts and it gives someone else a better chance of being the hero. So you can root for a HR and we'll all be happy if he hits one, but I'll be ecstatic with a 1-3 with a single, 2 walks, and 2 runs.
  21. LeMahieu has a career OPS+ of 92, and has already had his prime years. Schoop has an OPS+ of 98 for his career, and may still have his prime years ahead of him. So yeah, Miller is a hitter-friendly park, but it's not Coors and LeMahiue would probably just be another 6/7 type hitter on a team that already has too many of those and not enough reliable 3/4 guys to follow up Cain and Yelich. Schoop has been terrible, no doubt, but so was Santana early this year and so was Aguilar until yesterday. I hated the trade but I don't see a simple upgrade. He could almost be a mascot for the Brewers' offense as a whole because it seems like they should be so dangerous but they're often not - often due to lack of plate discipline, among other things.
  22. I was going to say about the same thing. I know it's stressful, but close games and long odds are part of what has made this year so fun. If I could somehow choose a very tight game while somehow guaranteeing that the Brewers win, I would do it. I was going to say at the beginning of the series that I kind of hope the Brewers win in 7, but wasn't sure I would be able to explain it.
  23. I think that could play right into the Brewers' hands. Bring in Hader to face the LHB's early. If they PH for any of them, it's not like it's a huge disadvantage, and now you have more RHB's in there for the rest of the bullpen to face. Or if they leave the LHB's in there, Hader mows them down effortlessly and gives you an extra inning.
