  1. The valuation of Santana on this board is a bit too high. I see why other teams and probably the Brewers don't rate him highly. Yeah he had a great year but I think he's due for regression. I see him as a .255 hitter with 25 HRs and awful defense. No one is going to deal a top prospect like Mejia for him, and he's just a piece in a trade for Archer.
  2. Exactly. I think Santana will be gone, but I expect them to keep Phillips. But there's no way he's the starter. Gotta be Braun or Yelich in RF. I have no idea what they're going to do, but they must have a general plan for the OF.
  3. I think Salazar could potentially be better than Archer. I really think if healthy he could break out this season with an ERA around 3 and a load of Ks. He's got the stuff to destroy batters. He's just gotta put it together. With Archer, I think what we've seen is what you get. Not a bad thing since what we've seen is pretty darn good, especially 2 years ago.
  4. The value of the club has quadrupled since he bought the club. Bought it for $220 million. It's now worth almost $1 billion. No way he could justify a $200 million payroll. I think $130 or $140 million could be done if he wanted.
  5. I like the reference.
  6. Clearly they are busy making monumental trades and signings, which will be announced within the hour. I never read between the lines.
  7. No way Cleveland accepts that trade, it's not even close. Neither Nottingham not Villar add much value to a trade. I'm not saying either is worthless, but Nottingham is basically a 20ish organizational prospect and Villar is a buy low candidate for a rebuilding team. Neither moves the needle much. Phillips might. Still far off. No one seems to realize Mejia is a top prospect. Think about all the worry over trading Brinson and add more because Mejia is a better prospect than Brinson. I don't think they're interested in including him just to get Santana.
  8. He's been right so far. Right on what? Making vague statements that almost allow him to not be wrong regardless? With all the information he claimed to know(outside of what he was telling us) he must know quite a darn bit over the past few days and in the coming days. Too bad he said he won’t post until Tuesday even though he has time to check the forum multiple times. Maybe he knows something or maybe he doesn’t...people can think what they want. Regardless I think some people are taking every single thing he says way too much to heart. You don’t have to involve every possibility in the future around a HH19 rumor claim. HH19 has actually not been right so far. Remember there was suppose to be a deal with contract issues...where is that? Just write it up as a botched trade that never was I guess. Not saying he isn’t getting legit information from sources, but even if right things fall through. It seems every time we conversate about something like Braun at 1st someone says, “But HH19 said __”. How is "Yelich to the Brewers" a vague statement? Or "Darvish to Cubs", which seems likely to happen. And yes, deals do fall through sometimes. Do I know for sure if he has inside info? No, but your reasoning makes no sense. So far, I see no reason to doubt him. No one else anywhere had that info on Yelich. Hell of a guess.
  9. I just don't see it. Been rumblings about this for years. Defense is obviously part of the moves we've made. Keeping Santana doesn't align with what appears to be the team's vision. I'm still confident Santana gets traded, and Braun stays in the outfield. But who knows at this point.
  10. Hey weren't you going ice fishin? Yes. This will be my last post till Tuesday. 1 more trade is in the works besides the Domingo trade per my source. I’m out. Go Brewers!!! Wow. No clue about the second trade.
  11. I think he has top 10 in the league potential. Elite stuff. Said it in another thread, but he reminds me a lot of Scherzer in his early Detroit days, pitching decently well but waiting to break out. Scherzer did it at age 28, which happens to be the same age Salazar is now. Numbers are similar.
  12. Cain backs out of the deal for some reason, and Stearns' plan goes down the tank.
  13. I actually think Salazar could be a top 10 pitcher in the league. He certainly has the stuff for it, and as others have pointed out, his peripherals and metrics are quite good for his entire career. Health is a question, but I'm a believer in his breakout potential. One of those guys who's been good, but hasn't had a season where he finally put it together. Honestly, he reminds me of Max Scherzer before he became super elite. The numbers in their first few seasons match up pretty well, and don't doubt Salazar's stuff. Remember, Scherzer didn't break out into elite mode until his age 28 season.
  14. Clearly Stearns thought Cain is more valuable to the Brewers the next few years than Domingo would, likely due to Domingo's awful defense. He must also be confident in selling high on Domingo and getting value there. Stearns believes Cain's value over Santana and return from trading Santana are better than the cost of signing Cain and Santana's value on the team.
  15. Not really. I think Cain will be good enough to start for at least 3 years. Who knows with Braun. Either way, I think there could be ways of getting another OF through FA or trade and moving one of those guys into a 4th OF role. Also you never know what you'll get out of a prospect. Someone like Ray or Lutz could get it together and become a MLB player.
  16. Domingo is the expendable and valuable trade chip we have right now. Would prefer him be used to shore up pitching this year, unless of course we decide to destroy the payroll with a FA pitcher. In that case, fire away with Mejia. Yes Domingo is a trade chip, but he is not BY HIMSELF worth Mejia or Salazar (IMHO). If the Crew is trying to get both guys (a full battery) they will need to add a significant piece to their side of the trade package. Personally I do not see a deal being finalized between the 2 clubs.. Agreed. I was just talking about the base players being traded. Would involve more pieces, and as you said would be difficult to make happen.

  18. Stearns seems like the most well prepared guy imaginable. He'll get good value from Domingo.
  19. Santana and Phillips as centerpieces to Tampa Bay for Archer? I would probably sell my soul for a trade like that, but I just don't see it for Tampa. Would also involve probably 2 more of our top 10 prospects. The Cleveland idea sounds more plausible. But at this point, I won't be shocked.
  20. Could also give them nothing in 2-3 years. Diaz and Harrison are pretty volatile prospects IMO. Could be very good or never do anything. I'm confident Yelich will be giving us 5 WAR seasons in 2-3 years.
  21. Rough giving up those guys, especially Harrison for me. But that means it's probably fair. Kept all top pitching prospects though.
  22. How do you not think Dubon is a true SS prospect? A little lost on that one. I can understand saying that he might not be ready this season but to just discard him, yeesh. He's not a top prospect or anything. He's a good prospect but I don't see him as the SS or 2B of the future. He also isn't a pure SS. Plays 2nd base a whole lot and that's where I think he ends up. His defensive stats at SS on the year were not great.
