  1. EXACTLY!!! Mark A has money that he can spend. often times we say oh well we can't compete with these big market teams, but it is so innaccuarate to the extent that people say it. Can they spend $200mill a year? No, but they could likely go to $160-$175 million for a few years and then go back down to a more moderate level (100-120mill a year).
  2. Oh interesting, another poster that doesn't realize the Brewers are on a budget and can't spend infinite money... Why would you waste time with Wheeler when Cole and Strasburg are available? There is a major difference between being on a budget and saying you are poor and just not spending any money because you want to line your own pockets even more.
  3. i remember them. They weren't big names. CC and Greinke are the only big name SP's the Brewers have had in the last 11 years.
  4. dont think those are very good examples.
  5. Wheeler's injury history scares the beejesus out of me. I also disagree that a signing of Lyles is any sort of indication that the Brewers aren't being "serious". Wheeler may be one of the more talented pitchers on the market, but that doesn't mean that signing him doesn't carry a lot of risk. Everyone has their "risks." Brewers havent been real willing to do much and thats why you see them not winning WS. Define "much". Because this team has been very active in recent years acquiring players both via trade and through free agency to get better. When was the last time they invested serious capital whether that be trade or free agency into a starting pitcher? and moreso on that line the last time they invested serious money into a pitcher?

  7. Wheeler is way better than Lyles in just about every category that matters. The one that is most interesting is how does Lyles have a Negative Career WAR while Wheeler is 10.2 Career WAR. This isn't comparable. If the Brewers want to be cheap they go Lyles. if they want to get serious they open the pocketbook and spend a little bit..
  8. Ryan Braun Signed Baseball, Ryan Braun Signed Picture with Frame, Prince Fielder Signed Baseball. Any idea what they are worth?
  9. when did Dubon use an option? dont you have to be in the major leagues for that?
  10. Not that I am a huge fan but I thought something like a Dave and Busters would've gone well in there. Something for the adults and the kids. Thats what the Game is for. Im not going to Miller Park to play games and eat food. Im going to watch a baseball game. That’s great. For you. I am the same way. But for a lot of others, not so much. i love what Target Field has..

  12. Is there any way to build a package around Dubon, Ray, Peralta, Woodruff, and Zack Brown? This would be the ideal scenario as they get their ace that they most desperately need, but they also get to keep Hiura and Burnes. Idk if it’s possible, but that’s why I am asking.
  13. I personally don’t see what everyone else sees with Hiura.. I don’t think he is that good personally.
  14. This is exactly what I have been saying. Stearns and co. are scared to make the big move that can set them far and above the other teams in this division.
  15. They won’t do anything..
  16. I think we could make a trade for Kluber.. I think that would really help us.. but it won’t happen.. Why don't you think that will happen? We need to lose some starters and cannot afford to put woodruff/ peralta/ burnes all in the rotation, as a team "going for it" can't afford to stick with a bunch of young guys and their ups and downs. I think it's fairly implied that one or more veteran pitcher is going and one of more of the "young three" will be moved. Kluber is a reasonable target with Schoop gone. They'll get some one like that and IMO they'll sign one of the better 2b's and probably a few minor moves. Will that be enough? I think so. And I certainly have a pessimistic past on here. If we ever signed the overrated turd Harper I renounce my allegiance to this team. We can get any amount of guys to hit .240 and swing really hard If we do that I am happy yes..
  17. You asked that this thread be unlocked so that it could be discussed. So what is the goal you have in mind for the Brewers? Do you think they are going to make some moves, or do you really believe they are going to sit idly by while the other NL playoff contenders improve? I think we could make a trade for Kluber.. I think that would really help us.. but it won’t happen..
  18. The Brewers aren’t fearful of spending money. They just don’t have as much to spend as those teams you mentioned. I hope you get that if the Brewers choose the wrong large contract, it could cripple any of the progress they have made so far. So that means you don’t try?
  19. Why do you assume the Cubs and Dodgers will get better? We're working in a vacuum where only good moves occur before December 5th, correct? Cubs and Dodgers aren’t afraid to spend money.. Machado and Harper could very easily go to those teams..
  20. So essentially I am upset because I feel that in order to make it to and ultimately win a World Series we will need the JT Realmuto’s and Patrick Corbin’s of the world.
  21. Sure it’s December 5th. But the Cardinals got better, the Nationals got better, the Cubs will get better, and the Dodgers also will get better. Meanwhile the Brewers sit here agreeing to do nothing because they don’t want to spend a few extra dollars or trade off some prospects who possibly will never amount to anything. Sure the Brewer people think Hiura will be great, but if that’s the case then why isn’t he going to be on the opening day roster?? And don’t give me that stupid Super 2 answer, if he was good enough and they felt that he was the answer, they wouldn’t wait.
  22. Not a major move.. Could be ... No one thought Wade Miley was a major move when he was signed. He wasnt.. it was sheer luck that he was even good.. every time he Took the mound i felt like we could give up 10 runs very easily.
  23. Not a major move..
  24. I might be wrong, but I’d be willing to bet a decent amount that the Brewers won’t make a major move this offseason.. all they’ll do is make small Erik Kratz type moves..
  25. Stearns and Mark A must not want to make any moves this offseason as they have now let Goldy and Corbin both get away, and with how much prospect hugging is going on I doubt we do anything.
