  1. sounds like you know a lot about what the Mets are looking for in a trade
  2. Archer still scares me, his stuff is great and on an affordable contract, but he gives up a ton of homeruns and has not been good for the past 3 years. I still think that package is good and would do it.....but I'd want to see if there is something better we can get for Hiura. I'm really high on Fulmer, but I will not be surprised if either Burnes or Hiura are traded at the deadline.
  3. Orf has hit on the road and has had high average and obp numbers all throughout his minor career. Dubon is also an undersized guy with no power that people want up. Do I think he'll set the world on fire, no, but I think he can replace sogard and provide a 260 average with good on base numbers. Our 2b situation has been awful, with Dubon hurt Orf needs a chance. We've found older non highly regarded prospects have success before so you never know. example) Aguilar last year, keon (unpopular oppinion but he produced as a non big prospect), suter last year.
  4. Nate Orf not in lineup today. Could mean nothing, but all the guy has done is hit in the minors. Hopefully he comes up for sogard.
  5. There is a possibility that Suter and Miley may not last in the rotation very long. You'll have jimmy ready by July (yes, I know he may not be himself but you never know) then there is the possibility that we can call up Burnes, or Peralta, or trade for somebody if it's that bad. I want to add a starter but I suppose it's not the end of the world if we don't. A rotation of Chase, Davies, Chacin, Jimmy, and Burnes looks pretty damn good in my oppinion.
  6. All 3 pitchers wernt that great to begin with. Lohse was pretty good the 2 years before he signed with the Brewers and he had success with the Brewers so I wouln't say that was a bad signing by any stretch. Lynn has been better for a longer period of time and is a very durable starter. Has had a great career so far and I could see him having success with the Brewers if he decides to sign with us.
  7. The reason Burnes was drafted in the 4th round was nothing to do with his stuff or talent. He had 1st/2nd round but scouts were worried aboout his delivery and if it would lead to struggle with comand and that he might not be able to stick as a starter because of it. He's obviously proved everyone that passed on him wrong. Albert Pujols was drafted in the 13th round so just because he was drafted in the fourth doesn't mean he's not a great pitcher. Anyone can succeed in the game with the right work ethic and right coaching.
  8. Only problem with this is both farm systems are lacking big named prospects (top 30 overall prospects.) and I don't think Arizona would want to get rid of every impactful prospect they have just to get Santana.
  9. I also think it is still possible to sign Arrieta. The Brewers have saved a ton of mone during the rebuild and Mark has stated before that he will use a lot of the money saved to help the team. The team is also worth a lot more than what it was and for a small market team, the a Brewers tend to bring in a decent revenue. So I think if the Brewers really want Arrieta or Cobb or whoever, then they'll get him. I beleive they can push the payroll to 130mil if they want to.
  10. If the Brewers are ever going to want to get a big named starting pitcher (Arrieta or Cobb) They're going to have to throw out some big money and that extra year in order to get them. It seems like the community is split on signing someone like Cobb to a 4 year 60mil deal. I for one am all for it. This is one offseason that we have the available money and don't have to compete with the big market teams as much on free agents this offseason due to the luxury tax. There are obviously concerns with all the pitchers available but you can make that case for just about every free agent that ever hits the market. It is very hard for someone to be as bad as suppan and Garza were but we can't let that scare us away from making a big move to the rotation especially in a year like this. 1 more big move and this team can do some damage.
  11. I feel like I'm the only one that wants Arrieta and would be willing to pay a good amount for him. Dudes a competitor and has pitched better over the past 3 years than darvish while keeping himself in great shape. Pitches well in the big games and keeps his team in the game which is exactly the type of pitcher the Brewers need. We have saved a ton of money over the pas 2 years and could have our payroll go way higher than whats its been in the past. Team made 4x's their payroll last year and the team is worth a lot more than Mark paid for it and he wants to win. Will not be surprised if we sign Jake to a deal like 4 for 100mil or 5 for 115 something like that. This is the pitcher that I believe will not only lead us to the playoffs but help us win a series IMO
  12. Maybe he's not trying to show his hand so that another team comes in last second and outbids them.
  13. Hey HH19, What percent chance do you give the Brewers of acquiring a big named starting pitcher before the start of the season?
  14. The suspense is killing me
