I like Woody and Burnes a lot (and Peralta a bit less so), but still, small sample sizes are under consideration here. That being said, the postseason is a pretty small sample size, too, so I think they're more than capable of keeping it rolling!
So, the roadmap here is: A) score runs B) Burnes pitches 4th-6th inning C) Hader/Knebel for 7th and 8th (Hader coming on for whichever inning has Blackmon, although Blackmon's splits are pretty even...) D) JJ to put a bow on it. E) Pints all around! Sounds simple...
That would be my guess. If we were up 2-0 or 3-0, maybe run him back out there until he tires or gets through the order one more time, but we may need the offense, even if Woody faces the minimum again.
The only silver lining here is that if there is one person on this roster I trust to shake off a colossal mental error like that and be a star going forward, it is Braun. Say whatever you want about the guy, he clearly has amazing confidence and mental fortitude.
I don't think my blood pressure could handle a Cubs series. I hate them so much. I could handle losing to the Rockies. That is verbatim where I am at as well. Right now it feels like we conquered that mountain and I am ready to take on a different challenger regardless of which team is a perceived tougher current matchup. Coming from someone who lives in the heart of evenly-divided Cubs and Cardinals territory, +1. During the NFC Championship vs. the Bears, the thought of losing and having to deal with the enemy fans forever after that game made me absolutely sick. Winning that game was more of a relief than a joy. I want to thoroughly enjoy this experience, so put me down as a Rockies fan in this one.
There are still tons of cardinals in the NLDS commercial airing today—after they were eliminated three days ago! The media will always cater to the big markets, and they absolutely hate it when smaller markets like Milwaukee, Kansas City, or even Cleveland or Oakland do well. It’s the nature of the business. I don’t even care anymore. I cancelled ESPN two years ago and have never looked back.
Should somebody ask Cole Hamels about the status of Cubs-Brewers? Do “MVP” chants from the visiting crowd make this a rivalry yet? Does a crowd of Brewers fans personally escorting the Brewers owner up a Wrigley Field concourse to a cascade of cheers make this a rivalry yet? DOES TRASHING THE VISITOR LOCKER ROOM WITH CHAMPAGNE AND BEER MAKE THIS A ******* RIVALRY YET?!
