  1. In other news tonight, sports team has interest in robbing another kidney from closest rival, hopes to also take an eyeball or two. Details at 11.
  2. Yeah, the increasing prevalence of teams punting games in which they are losing after 6 (especially by using position players to pitch the end of blowouts) has made me suspect that the interpretive usefulness of Pythagorean record is diminishing in the modern game, but I’m open to correction on this point.
  3. Give him an extension.
  4. Based solely on his post-game interviews as a player, I had the same initial reaction. Then I considered the fact that I have no idea how much weight that should carry. Not to mix sports, but I’ve often thought Aaron Jones wasn’t a terribly effective communicator based on his interviews, either, and by all accounts he’s an absolute leader in the locker room and even the huddle. Stick a camera in someone’s face, and things can get a little weird for them. So then I’m back to the fact that I don’t know much about anything regarding managers, and I’m just waiting around hoping for the best.
  5. Not to take away from the rest of your post, but the Brewers have beaten their Pythagorean record 8 out of the last 10 years, including the last seven straight. Such a run would seemingly defy the standard explanation of the team being lucky. Therefore, one of the most important things to be determined by le affair de Counsell is if this Pythagorean outperformance is more the result of roster construction or Counsell’s supposed deft hand with the bullpen phone.
  6. Yeah, I’d agree with this. I’m training my critical fire elsewhere after this one. The defense going up against a hobbled QB and an offense that had no interest in throwing unless they had to, and we give up 200 yards on the ground? Seriously? The special teams? Offensive line? We lost in the trenches today. Story of the season so far.
  7. Kind of a best case scenario. Love (two silly INTs notwithstanding) takes a step forward, and our draft position improves.
  8. Get out of bounds, Jones! You’re too experienced to not know time and timeout situation. Good grief, man
  9. Man, that was a really unnecessary offensive pick play. Thanks for that gift, Steelers.
  10. Yeah, I imagine he got too used to just stepping on the field at ND State and dominating people who were all naturally undersized. That ain’t going to happen in the NFL, kid.
  11. Another jump ball to Watson in the end zone that Watson does not even compete for. I think we can go ahead and tear those out of the playbook until Watson proves he is capable of making at least some kind of effort on it.
  12. Can I just say how bizarre it is to watch the Packers enter a late game scenario with all of their timeouts left? I have become so conditioned to burning frivolous timeouts that this feels like an embarrassment of time.
  13. I love Musgrave up the seam. That is using a player exactly to maximize his abilities. That’s his jam.
  14. There’s a gutsy call on 4th and 6, and good execution. That’s what we need to be doing.
  15. And, lo and behold, the D gets a stop with 90 seconds and two timeouts to play with. What do I know?
  16. Agreed, but load him up with truth serum and he’d tell you he has no confidence in a defensive stop right now. I still think you go for it, because we have nothing else to play for, really, but I get his angle, too. I just want to see the offense just let it rip the rest of the year. Who cares about trying to play field position or complementary football, we’re not going anywhere.
  17. Love looked more on brand that series. Too bad.
  18. Video review in football is going to be as bad as soccer soon. And that’s an accomplishment.
  19. That is bull. Give me a break.
  20. Call it a fumble, cowards
  21. Holy cow, is Love breaking out? Is this happening?
  22. Best Dillon run in years. Rumbling, bumbling, stumbling!
  23. That was a sorry excuse for defensive holding on Nixon, but what do I know? Wouldn’t have made much difference, I imagine.
  24. I don’t like that it has been so necessary, but the secondary is showing admirable willingness in the running game so far. Too bad the front seven is blowing chunks.
