  1. Is Love ever going to get one out in front of Watson?
  2. Nijman and Rhyan in, and we’re laying some pavement out there. Coincidence?
  3. This is going to be ugly all day
  4. These are professionals who have played the game since they were 3.5’ tall. If they are needing coaches to tell them what the snap count is, or where on your opponent’s body you can block a player, that isn’t a coach problem, that’s a player problem—which means it’s a GM problem.
  5. Can’t be upset at Nacua pushing off. I wish our receivers would get that physical.
  6. Reading the tea leaves, I’d imagine this trade is an indication that Gutekunst feels his job is secure going into next year. He would have to be pretty darn altruistic to make this deal while knowing his tenure was riding on this year’s stretch run. So if I were a betting man, I’d say he’s going to be the one to be making that draft selection he just traded for.
  7. Cynical me says unless one of them is giving his knee to Bakhtiari, it probably doesn’t change anything vis-a-vis a title. But big-picture, I think opinions of Gutekunst would be drastically improved if Gute had picked Higgins over Love, IF (and this is the key assumption) Rodgers still took the year 2 leap in MLF’s system. The stakes of that draft pick were just so high that anything less than another SB win under Rodgers or a smooth transition to Love would be viewed as a massive failure. And it’s looking like Gute is going to miss on both those outcomes.
  8. Arizona says hi. But I certainly don’t mind having Carolina pass us in the standings.
  9. I definitely won’t argue that. Love was always going to be a referendum on Gutekunst—he had to be right, and Love had to be more ready than this to justify that pick at that time. In that sense, it seems pretty damning.
  10. I haven’t gone back and looked, but it seemed like Watson didn’t really jump, and first glance, it didn’t seem like Love airmailed it or anything. But I have a hard time taking fault with Love on that possession when there were multiple drops on easier plays leading up to that. I’m just saying I don’t know what Love is at this point. He isn’t great, but it is hard to firmly establish just what he is besides that.
  11. I will never understand what we’re doing with Aaron Jones this year. If he can’t get it right, shut him down. If he’s healthy, put him in the game. This is stupid.
  12. Love hit Watson in the hands. He should have that. The only throw on that sequence that I didn’t like was the 4th down decision, which was never open.
  13. Youngest pass catchers in football. Ugh
  14. Special teams making a play?
  15. We’ll be drafting high and we always take defenders in round one, so, yeah, it would have its perks…
  16. I’ve been waiting for Gary to show up. Didn’t think it would be like that…
  17. Hard to get even six inches when a 300 pounder has immediate penetration. Our line is just non-competitive as a run-blocking unit this year.
  18. This is an incredibly conservative organization, but I’m not sure how much ineptitude even this brass can overlook. I thought at the beginning of the year that MLF would be safe no matter what, but I’m starting to waver on this. I still don’t think they’d fire him mid-year barring some sort of impropriety, but if this continues for the rest of the year, I’m not sure how anyone survives it.
  19. None of the pass catchers feel like making a play today, it seems.
  20. Preston Smith just played better in coverage on that than any of our safeties have all year. Douglas just proved my point,
  21. Man, I think Jaire might be more disappointing to me than anyone else in the organization this year.
  22. I’m sure there’s an explanation, but I don’t understand why refs sometimes allow offenses to line up and snap it immediately and other times they deliberately slow things down. The refs held that play up, and the Packers didn’t substitute, so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t let the offense go as fast they want?
  23. Everyone wants MLF gone, but the brass will probably look at all these games holding opposing teams to under 25 and elevate Barry to HC…
