  1. Having your best hr and rbi guy leading off makes zero sense. Nobody has even asked Murphy that I have seen.
  2. My opinion. Now i know that those are discouraged but we shall see. I don't rummage around in the stats attic like some I just watch the game for 40 years. Murphy seems like a swell guy and eating pancakes from his pocket is fun but it is debatable if he is a good in game manager.
  3. It's why this postseason will be interesting as Murphy has no feel for running a game
  4. Like i said Fedde should never see a lefty. Poor decision.
  5. For the statheads. Joey is currently the 101 rated player at shortstop. Using DRS Ortiz is currently-2. Mookie Betts is first at +17. Apparently he's incredible defense isn't all that incredible according to the stats. If he was prime Ozzie Smith fine. Is he better than Mono? Sure. Not enough to justify an auto out.
  6. He's all they got. Take it up with Arnold. I wanted a pick up at the deadline. Someone decided he would come around. It's not a defense of Mono but you can't just say we will only take 23 outs in this game. Thanks. Playoff game all 27 matter.
  7. He's been decent against righty. If he sees a lefty it's a wrap.
  8. I was waiting for a stat head to come back with a defense of Ortiz. 😆 What is he hitting on days that end in y? By this logic is a half season all star I guess. Incredible
  9. Right. But if Mona doesn't go 3-4 Ortiz nation will be like SEE!!
  10. The very interesting article about Ortiz on this site is so simple and exactly what I've been saying. You cannot afford to play a defense first player if nobody else is hitting. It was refreshing to read common sense. Play the best players at this point. Stop hoping the guy is going to suddenly find it. He's been horrible from game 1 to game 155. Hoping this is the day.
  11. The lack of information from the manager on stuff like this is incredible to me. Imagine Aaron Boone in NY changing the order and hitting Judge leadoff. He would have to have a press conference just for this.
  12. Murphy will find a reason to throw Ashby if the guys fight back so I'm ok getting destroyed.
  13. Scary thing i expect at least one playoff game to feature this exact lineup.
  14. In fact no need to share those stats they don't exist. I will shut on on this topic. It's likely that no matter what the results are people are going to find a stat that justification for a major league player being this bad. Anthony Volpe has been benched by a playoff team. He has a war of 1.8. Ortiz has a war of 0.8. Volpe has struggled on D. Yankees are trying to win just like the Brewers are. Who would you rather have?
  15. There is no defensive player on the planet who makes up for a player who is 60 percent worse than average offensive player. It's not a hard thing to understand.. if Ortiz fields 2 groundballs successfully and strands 6 runners was it worth it?? You guys keep acting like he is fielding every other ball. Has he ever made an error? When he went out due to injury did the Brewers collapse? The amount of gnashing of teeth that nobody else could possibly be better than Ortiz is crazy. Please share the defensive stats that shows that Ortiz defensive stats more than make up for 60 percent worse than the offense he is putting up.
  16. It all comes down to pitch selection. He had him 3-0 and decided he didn't want to walk.
