  1. Rough start for the Stars. Top 1st: Stars go down 1-2-3 Bot 1st: Krynzel and Varner let an easy fly ball fall in between them, goes as a double. Hardy then has a ball hit off his glove and go into the outfield, goes as an error, scores a run. Then Liriano gives up a two-run shot. Top 2nd: Stars go down 1-2-3 C'mon boys, lets come back again.
  2. I think a lot of that had to do with last night when Bonds should have gone down looking but the obvious strike was called a ball. That, plus today Bonds got a couple calls that were close. I liked the fact that Ned didn't stay out there for 5 minutes looking like an idiot. He said what he wanted to say and left.
  3. Now THAT'S a great baseball game Kade's the man(at least for tonight)!
  4. Maybe if the media would have taken the Brewers 10 game win streak more seriously instead of "Packers Blitz" or "Packers Extra" we wouldn't be in this mess. Yeah the 10 game streak was nice, but are we in the playoffs because of it? Like I said before, the only way the Brewers are going to draw more fans is if they contend. Winning 10 games in a row in late August while being 20 games under .500 is NOT contending. Last time I checked, the Packers have been in contention every year since the early 90s. I'm not saying they deserve 90 different shows a day, but they probably deserve more coverage this time of year. Ulice Payne needs to wake up and smell the coffee, we got embarrassed in our home turf. And we did nothing to defend ourselves. What exactly should Ulice have done? He can't control what's going on in the field. Retaliation? I think that should be left to Tony LaRussa and all the other people who still think it's 1963. Retaliation should only happen if someone is clearly hit intentionally. I'm not convinced that Juan Cruz threw at Sexson intentionally.
  5. I don't understand why some people are getting upset over this. If you didn't expect Cub fans to out number Brewer fans on a Sept weekend when the Brewers are way out of it and the Cubs right in the middle of it, then you didn't see any Cubs/Brewers games in Milwaukee, ever. There has ALWAYS been at least 25% Cubs fans at all past games here. That goes for County Stadium games as well. The thing is, more and more Cub fans are realizing how easy it is to get up here, and for some, Miller Park is closer and/or easier to get to than Wrigley. The number of Cub fans that cross the border grows each year. It may get worse before it gets better. As for ushers, they need to get new blood in there, literally. These ushers are almost as old as most NFL refs. Maybe they could hire more security type personnel and have them double as ushers. Bottom line is, the old people must go.
  6. The ONLY way I'd ever root for a Cubs win is if we needed help to clinch a playoff spot. And this is a little off topic but, Wrigley Field is so overrated. That place is cramped, dirty, cold, and you have to go to the bathroom in a pig trough(welcome to the 20th century Cubs fans). The only cool part of Wrigley is the ivy on the wall, and even that's not that great. I'd rather have the luxury of urinals, a nice videoboard, and plenty of parking.
  7. Obnoxious is a good word to describe many Cub fans, in ways already described in the last few game threads. They cheer at *anything* Cub related. Every fly ball is a home run in the making. When Robb Edwards revealed today's attendance and said, "The Brewers and Chicago Cubs thank you for attending today's game," they cheered again upon hearing the name. If someone had announced, "MLB bats are made of *wood*," they'd have thought it was a tribute to Kerry Wood and gone nuts. This is my major complaint with them. That and the total lack of respect for anything that has to do with any other team. I don't think I have ever heard the word "gay" so many times in my life. They used that word for everything that had to do with the Brewers. Mark Smith, the grass, the foul pole, the bathrooms, the scoreboard, Bernie, and oh yeah, me.
  8. Brian, I was at Friday nights game, there was, I think maybe 3 other Brewer fans in my section. It was sickening, it hurt, but you can't just sit there and cry about it. Cub fans are fools. Lofton gets an infield single to lead off the game. Every moron in there acted like they just won the World Series. I just laughed. Sosa had a high pop up to medium RF and again all the idiots thought it was gone, so I got up and sarcastically said, "Wow, where is that one gonna land? He really got all of that one!" I just played around with them and tried to enjoy the game as much as possible. Cub fans ARE worse than White Sox fans. When the Sox are no good, the Sox fans know that's true. Cub fans always think they are about to win the division. They're delusional.
  9. I went to about 40 games in 01, about 10 last year, and ..........three this year. I went to see the Snappers about a dozen times though. Bandwagoner? Nah, smart consumer. Thats not what I mean, sorry to confuse you. I like the fact that Brewer fans like yourself are talking with your wallet. As long as you still follow the Brewers on TV, radio, here, whatever, you are a Brewer fan. I was talking about the people who like the Cubs, or any other team besides the Crew, only because the Brewers haven't done anything in 11 years.
  10. If Milwaukee is such a baseball town, then why are we being outnumbered by Cub fans? These are supposed to be our rivals, but we are getting beat right now I don't mind this. First it means more money for the team and the area. Second, I think it shows that if you win, people show up. Milwaukee fans are sick of losing. Chicago fans will almost always come up here in the tens of thousands until the Brewers start contending. Brewer fans are not as dumb as Cub fans. Brewer fans at least send a message to the management by not showing up to see Jason Conti and literally the second coming of Jamie Navarro from a few years back. The management of the Cubs doesn't have to make solid moves to please the average Cub fan, only the few Cub fans that have some knowledge of the game will care. I honestly don't know why Cub fans are so well respected in the national media. They may be the most unintelligent fans in sports. Plus, when we start contending, a good number of those bandwagoning morons from our state will magically become Brewer fans. Yeah it's not fun now, but it'll be awesome when 40,000 people come to see the BREWERS play.
  11. I didn't see Bud or Cecil, but Doug Melvin and another guy, in a suit, sat about 4 rows back of me in the last row of the General Admission bleachers. He stayed until the end of the 8th.
  12. Is Luis pitching tomorrow or Thursday? Tomorrow, which sucks cause I'm going to the Beloit playoff game. Ah well, I don't get to see much playoff baseball.
  13. Indianapolis, Toledo Cancelled INDIANAPOLIS AT TOLEDO NOTE: THE GAME WAS CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN AND IT WILL NOT BE MADE UP.
  14. Could we see Michael Brooks Kieschnick in the OF anytime soon?
  15. The chances of us winning without Jenks in the lineup do go down. However, the Brewers have won these games because of a team effort and someone different coming up big every day. I'd say that our chances of winning tomorrow are about the same as winning any other game, Jenkins or not.

  17. Don Money had an interesting lineup last night. No Crabbe, Eure at 1B, and Prince at DH. Maybe they're wanted to give Prince a semi-night off. He really looks like he's pressing, hacking at almost everything. He walked on four pitches in the 1st but they were clearly pitching around him VandenBerg left 5 men on base with 2 outs in his first 2 ABs but got the big hit with the bases loaded and 2 outs for the go ahead runs. Another nice victory last night, and to make things a whole lot better, my dad won $263 in the 50/50 drawing.
  18. The Beloit site summary is correct, Weeks went 1-3. The Rattlers' radio guy said 1-4 but the sac fly is not an at-bat so it is offically 1-3. Personally, I can't stand listening to Beloit/Wisconsin games, all that guy does is read off stats and scores from every game played that night from just about every league. You can hardly tell there's a game going on in the background with him talking about the Devil Rays/Os game.
  19. You know Al, I agree with a lot of what you say. You're a smart man. However, I really think that it was sad that you had to degrade other people's opinions by calling them "unintelligent." Just because you think you have a better opinion does not mean others are stupid, dumb, etc. By the way, I never called you a pompous genius, I said your attitude was pompous, and the genius part was just sarcasm. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. Just got back from the Beloit game and I can only think of one word to describe the evening... wow. Not only was it a nice win in front of a decent crowd, but the game had near perfect timing. As I traveled 60 miles down I-43 towards Beloit I saw a very dark sky in the general area of Beloit. It rained hard about 5 minutes outside of the city and as I pulled into the parking lot, the rain came down even harder. I prayed that the rain would hold off because I didn't want to waste an entire evening going through what would amount to be the World's Longest Car Wash. As luck would have it, the rain stopped, and held off until the 9th inning. OK, I'll stop rambling. As for the game, a nice solid game by the Snappers. First, the pitching. Carpenter was fooling everyone with his off speed stuff. Only 3 Ks but walked one and hit one batter. He also didn't give up too many hard hit balls. He seemed to lose it a little in the 7th walking one, then gave up a single, both with no outs. Ballouli put an end to that rally with 3 weak fly balls. In the 8th he gave up 2 singles with one out then K'd the 4 and hitters in the Dayton lineup. Then the rains came in the 9th causing about a 5 minute delay to get diamond dry on the mound and behind the plate. The Snappers woke up the bats after yesterday's 2 hit showing and had 12 hits tonight, but K'd 9 times. VandenBerg went 3 for 4 with a double and two singles scoring twice. Hinton had the lone HR of the game, a no doubter to RF in the 7th. Also, both Mendez and Crabbe looked shaky at times in the field. And to top the evening off, a wonderful fireworks display in a light drizzle.
  21. Durham (Devil Rays) 7, Indianapolis 6, 11 innings Indy Site Game Summary: INDIANAPOLIS -- Jason Smith's bases loaded single in the top of the 11th inning lifted the Durham Bulls to a 7-6 win at Victory Field Friday night. The Bulls (58-51) came back from a 5-0 deficit to win and maintain a four-game lead in the International League South. The Tribe jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning. The 7-8-9 hitters in the order reached base on a hit batsman and two singles. Rich Paz singled home one run while Pete Zoccolillo came through with a two-run single. Jim Rushford followed with an RBI hit of his own. The Indians (49-62) extended the lead to 5-0 in the fifth when Paz led off with a double to left and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Zoccolillo. Tribe starter Pasqual Coco sailed through six innings of work, scattering six hits while holding Durham off the scoreboard. He allowed a lead-off home run to Pete LaForest in the seventh, and Brooks Badeaux reached on an error before a heavy rain forced a 31-minute delay. John Foster took over on the mound when play resumed, and after giving up singles to Jason Tyner and Ryan Jackson, gave up a game-tying, three-run homer to Matt Diaz. George Lombard made it back-to-back longballs when he followed with a blast to straight-away center which put Durham in the lead 6-5. Indianapolis tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Paz led off with a single, advanced to third on a sacrifice and a ground out, and scored on Rushford's third single of the night. Roberto Giron (0-3) took the loss for the Tribe. Working his third inning for the first time this season, Giron gave up singles to Ryan Jackson and Diaz before walking Chris Truby to load the bases in the 11th. Smith followed with a single to right to drive in his 61st run of the season. Lee Gardner (1-7) earned the win with two perfect innings of relief. He fanned three. Todd Williams picked up his fourth save with a 1-2-3 11th. The four-game series, which is tied at one game apiece, will continue Saturday at 7 p.m. at Victory Field. Ben Ford (3-3) will face Carlos Reyes (9-2). 24. Well, one homer is not too good. But at least he didn't get shut out, or WHIFF, like Boone. Hopefully he and Jenks can do something productive in the All Star game(if they get in(I assume Sexson will, Jenks might not)) unlike past Brewers in the game.
