  1. Probably gonna be a committee for a bit. They're gonna try a few guys and see who fits best. I could be wrong and they just roll with a guy but that doesn't seem like how the Brewers operate. One of these four would be my guess: Albers Jeffress Barnes Jennings
  2. I'm pretty sure Craig is giving Villar an extended run to lock down 2B. Sogard needs ABs. If Arcia is only starting 4 out of 6 games in June or July, I'll be right there with you guys. Until then, I'm not getting my blood pressure up over it.
  3. https://www.mlb.com/brewers/video/must-c-yelich-braun-beat-cards/c-1905923583?tid=47078472 I'll just leave this here. Classic calls by both guys.
  4. 100% agree. The nitpickers need to be quiet. The man is a national treasure, and the team is lucky to have him. But come on. I will not come on. I also have no sympathy for you or your girlfriend. When Bob blows a call we are all in the same boat. If I have to look up the box score to find out exactly what happened, I'm ok with that. A minor trade off for years and years of entertainment. You can always pay $20 on the AtBat App to listen to every teams radio calls and then you won't have to listen to Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker.
  5. 80% of what's been said about Ueck in this thread is nonsense. Way to nitpick a 80+ year old man who's still far more enjoyable to listen to than 90% of the rest of the league's radio guys. Yeah, he never tells you the score mid- inning and he has trouble seeing things clearly at times. But I think he's earned the right to call games as long as he'd like.
  6. PSVue has virtually unlimited "DVR" but again, no regional Fox Sports, no "big" FOX and no History channel. But you can get both FSN and FOX on separate apps, sans DVR. Those are my only complaints since switching from cable in December, really.
  7. I have PSVue as well and I don't mind having to use the FOX Sports Go App to watch games. The only thing is there's no recording capabilities like there is with PSVue but other than that it's way better value than our old setup with DVR.
  8. Personally, I'm rather indifferent towards today's news. This has Doug Melvin written all over it. Once it was announced that Doug wasn't leaving I kind of suspected we'd see a "Stan Kyles" approach to any coaching changes. I'm just surprised it was Iorg instead of the other Narron. To those who wanted Roenicke fired, what specifically did he do/not do to have you call for his job? What specific things would you have wanted the team to look for in a replacement?
  9. Unbelievable. I've always disliked the Yankees but that was pretty cool.
  10. I don't watch ESPN at all if it's not a live event. I have MLB Network so I watch that for Brewers highlights/big news and they're pretty balanced in their coverage. I don't really have a problem with anything ESPN says about my favorite teams. It's all about selling ads to them, not sport.
  11. With that attitude I highly doubt you followed the Brewers one iota during the unbelievably barren years between 1993-2005. If you actually did follow them during that time you must have been the most unpleasant person to talk to regarding Brewers baseball. Were you trying to get people to not go to games then as well? I'm pretty sure the teams we trotted out back then did that well enough on their own. No one's happy the team has done so poorly the last couple weeks. However, I just don't see how two weeks of (very poorly timed) awful baseball equals a boycott.
  12. The Brewers fought hard tonight. They came up short in the end but the effort was clearly there. That's all I can ask. Please win tomorrow, Crew. Make us dream, again.
  13. I'd have replied to this sooner but when I first saw this post my eyes rolled all the way into the back of my head. [sarcasm]Why don't we just campaign to have the team move and tear down Miller Park while we're at it? I mean, after all, they've lost EIGHT games in a row![/sarcasm] Or..... we could just take a deep breath, relax and see what happens the rest of the way.
  14. Awful news. Unfortunate that most of us didn't hear about these relationships he had with his minor leaguers and his colleagues until this happened. The man spent a good number of years working for the Brewers and judging by the reactions of a good number of people all over baseball he will be difficult to replace and deeply missed.
  15. The UEFA Champions League Draw for the group stage was today. The results: Group A Atletico Madrid Juventus Olimpiakos Malmö Group B Real Madrid FC Basel Liverpool Ludogorets Group C Benfica Zenit Bayer Leverkusen AS Monaco Group D Arsenal Dortmund Galatasaray Anderlecht Group E Bayern Munich Man City CSKA Roma Group F Barcelona PSG Ajax Apoel Group G Chelsea Schalke 04 Sporting Lisbon Maribor Group H Porto Shakhtar Athletic Club de Bilbao BATE Borisov Good draw for Liverpool. Being in Pot 3 it was always going to be a bit of a tough draw but Real, Basel and Ludogorets is about as easy as it's going to get. Overall, I think Manchester United had the easiest draw. They won't be playing ANY difficult teams.
  16. I think that's what you meant. One of the cornerstones of LFC fandom is a disgust for anything United.
  17. Been a fan of Liverpool since 08-09 when they finished 2nd and only lost 2 matches all season. The years following that 2nd place finish were.... not very good. When Roy Hodgson was manager LFC was in the relegation zone in November. Things are better now. Last season was pretty amazing. Shaky defense cost them at the end but LFC was one of only three clubs in PL history to score over 100 goals in a season. It was a lot of fun. Losing Suarez hurts but they've played well under Brendan Rodgers when he was suspended in the past so I think they'll be just fine. It may take a bit to get everything running smoothly with all the new signings from the Suarez money but I think Liverpool will be rolling along in a couple months. Maybe not title contenders like last season but I think they'll be solidly in the top four. Also, I'm really excited to have Champions League matches to watch again. LFC will be in a very tough group but it will be great to watch some important European matches again. Anfield will be rocking.
  18. I didn't see that clip, but it's not surprising he'd say something like that. He's the manager. He's not going to say "Well, we lost Suarez so we can't possibly win the title." I wouldn't be surprised if he said this as a way to spin it so there's less pressure this season. No one believes that Teves(then) = Suarez. They'll laugh that comment off and undersell Liverpool as a one-man team without the one-man. Just a theory based on Brendan's style with the press. The last 10 games in which Suarez didn't play for Liverpool they lost one game. Of course Liverpool can't outright replace Suarez but they showed they could score plenty of goals even when Suarez wasn't in the lineup. I don't think they'll come as close to the title as they did last year but to think they're going to be devastatingly worse than last year is not correct, in my opinion.
  19. Highlights from last night's match at Miller Park
  20. The latest rumors are that Barça are still hot after Suárez. I know I'm no expert, but my money is on him leaving LFC this summer. Yeah, but if there's one thing I've learned by following a club in Europe it's that you can't believe what you read in Summer. That said, I'm sure Barca are interested. If they offered 80+ million pounds for him, sure. Anything less and it's not smart. Bites or no bites. I don't see LFC selling him this window. Probably not in January either, if he's cup-tied with LFC by playing in the Champions League. Next Summer though, I think he's gone. The English media will be all over him this season. There's no doubt about that. He could donate his entire year's salary to sick orphans and he'd still be the most hated player in England.
  21. Yeah, I saw that. Once FIFA said they were taking into account his past bites, I kinda figured he was gonna miss part of his club season. Really tired of his nonsense. Been at Liverpool three years and has been banned for significant parts of all three. I don't see LFC selling him in this window but I also wouldn't be surprised if they took the best offer they can get at this point.
  22. Well, they can't ban him from club games. FIFA has no control over the English FA, he can only get banned on the international level. That said, and I'm a huge Liverpool and Suarez supporter, but he should get at least 2 years from FIFA. Inexcusable.
  23. A draw isn't the worst, no. I was just pointing out the best case scenario. I think it's pretty important that the US gets the job done tomorrow. I don't want to go into the Germany game with the US needing a result, even if both sides just need a draw.
  24. Germany and Ghana playing a pretty incredible match so far. 2-2 with 20 minutes to play. US would like Germany to win, preferably by more than one.
  25. As someone who follows Liverpool Football Club I know the managerial prowess of England manager Roy Hodgson. He was the manager at LFC from July 2010 to January 2011, at which time he was fired....err, I mean left by mutual consent. In those short few months he seemed to be a manager who does not ever have a clear plan. He just sets the lineup and lets the players figure out the game from there. Lineups put together seemingly at random, fielding a team full of youth players and reserves that lose a League Cup match to a League 2(fourth level of English football, i.e. Low A baseball for lack of a better comparison) team, leaving first team players completely off the team for no reason. Also at times he says things to motivate(?) his team but ends up saying something foolish or out of touch. Take his comments on Suarez earlier in the week. Hodgson says that Suarez hasn't proven himself on the World Cup stage so he's not "world class". Final score, Suarez 2 England 1. I'm not saying his comments alone made England lose, but it's obvious they didn't help at all. Roy Hodgson isn't a terrible manager. He seems to have his most success with smaller, less talented teams(at the club level, i.e. Fulham). Once he gets put on a bigger stage he is shown to be in way over his head. England's quick exit isn't much of a surprise to anyone who followed LFC a few years ago.
