  1. By all means, Henderson will be starting 2024 with the Timber Rattlers.
  2. I am of the opinion that the only question remaining is whether Peralta will remain in Milwaukee. I don’t see Burnes, Adames, Williams, Houser, or TT returning. Peralta, however, has a chance at being the ace on the next Brewers team that makes a deep run in the postseason, whether that is in ‘25 or ‘26. In addition, I think that one or two of the young outfielders will be flipped as well. My preference would be to keep Mitchell and Frelick. Those moves would leave Milwaukee with possibly the deepest collection of young talent ever assembled. Alas, that’s just this guy’s opinion.
  3. RHP Luis Contreras has signed an MiLB contract with the Houston Astros.
  4. There are other names that will factor in that decision, too, when the time comes. If I recall correctly, my understanding was that his focus would remain on the left side of the infield going forward. Of course, the shortstop position was already locked down for the most part by other slightly more polished players, defensively, when he was promoted. At this point, I believe Baez is the third baseman for the Mudcats. That is not to say that he won’t continue to get reps elsewhere in 2024 as the organization wants to build his comfort playing at multiple spots as well. Once again, we are a LONG way out, but Bitonti is not a sure thing to start in Carolina. Clearly, the organization is not hesitant to challenge young players with an aggressive full-season assignment, but at this point he is penciled in to start the year in the ACL. That being said, we all know how quickly things can change.
  5. Confirmed with Navarreto as I spoke with him this afternoon! Completely agree on Chirino, as well, glad to have them both back.
  6. From what I’m hearing, RHP Harold Chirino and C Brian Navarreto have both re-signed for 2024. Waiting on official confirmation at this point.
  7. Would’ve been a free agent otherwise. Makes complete sense knowing that!
  8. I believe that Black’s defense made major strides in 2023 both in terms of year-to-year and throughout this most recent campaign. It’s important to keep in mind that, while his fielding % did improve at AAA, improvement and development is not always apparent in the numbers. I feel as though I saw noticeable progress at third base for him throughout the year even when the results didn’t necessarily paint the same picture at AA. All of that not even to mention the taste that he got at first base which, as much as some might disagree, is not any easy position to just pick up. The goal for him short-term is a split between those two spots, hopefully leaning more third base or even, if he gets more comfortable, full-time 3B. His fall back would be a full-time transition to first base, although there have been talks in the past about transitioning back to second or even trying the corner outfield spots. Of course, mixing some time in at DH is certainly in the future for the Canadian speedster/slugger as well although they would prefer to leave that spot open for others to get ABs if at all possible.
  9. No, I don’t have any inside info just throwing it out there
  10. His last start at AAA you mean? 👀
  11. Friday, July 26 at home vs. Miami following an off day allowing for the hype/ticket sales as someone already mentioned (hopefully Sandy Alcantara or Eury Perez on the mound, both of which he has had success off of already). Chourio will be the big-time deadline “acquisition”. Now that I’ve said this, he’ll be in Milwaukee for the series against Chicago next weekend.
  12. Of course, Clarke’s bat is what is intriguing and that will be his ticket to the big leagues if he makes it. That being said, the organization is determined to continue the development behind the plate so he can at least keep splitting his time between C/1B/DH. He provides a big target and is a solid receiver of the ball, it’s mainly his arm that needs work behind the plate which is something that can be improved. From what I’ve heard (and seen) there is no realistic possibility of 3B or OF. Just not in the cards with his range and agility which is just fine. Obviously, not all players need to have that kind of versatility or career trajectory to get to the bigs.
  13. The hype is real as it should be. My hope is just that fans have some patience. Not saying that I think he’ll struggle by any means, but, say he spends most of 2024 in Milwaukee, it’s entirely okay if he does not put up a 20-40 season as a rookie. I think that’s what many expect at this point and maybe it happens, but it will probably take some more development at the big league level. Can’t even put into words how excited I am for him just as a person. Very kind individual.
  14. Chourio is also headed to AAA, but that doesn’t eliminate the possibility of Clarke moving up as well.
  15. It seems that Carlos D. Rodriguez and Max Lazar will not be joining Nashville. The organization is content with the solid seasons they both put together in 2023. That narrows things down somewhat. Look for one bat (likely Clarke, but possibly Chourio) and one arm (likely Meeker) to join Carlos F. Rodriguez.
  16. He is indeed. Chourio, Clarke, Carlos D. Rodriguez, Meeker, and Lazar are also being considered for a promotion. Of course, not room for all of them however.
  17. I have heard that SS Eric Brown, Jr. is also headed to AA Biloxi. Trying to confirm that at the moment.
  18. RHP Shane Smith has been promoted to AA Biloxi after an outstanding first full pro season to this point between Carolina and Wisconsin.
  19. Not sure about anyone else with Mudcats/Rattlers, but I have heard that there have been discussions about Logan Henderson moving up to Biloxi once playoffs are finished since he’ll miss the opportunity to pitch for the Rattlers this year.
  20. Unbeknownst to me until today, Garcia also had a brief promotion to Nashville in 2022.
  21. My sincerest apologies, a lot on my mind at the moment. C Jesus Garcia was also released, not Jesus Parra whom was released earlier this season.
  22. Also released today was 1B Jesus Parra. I believe there are still more names to come, unfortunately.
  23. CF Luis Medina has been released.
