  1. As far as I know, the target for his return is still late July, but his situation was very touchy dealing with a nerve in his elbow.
  2. Tayden Hall will begin rehab games in AZ today and will be there for two weeks after which he will head back to Carolina.
  3. Southern League will revert back to standard MLB baseballs rubbed with mud from the Delaware River after July 13th.
  4. Guilarte injured the pinky finger of his left hand on a stolen base attempt. I don’t know exactly when the target for his return is, but it shouldn’t be too far off.
  5. Nate Peterson has been dealing with a minor elbow strain and is scheduled to return to action a week from today.
  6. Harold Chirino has a torn lat muscle which typically requires 3-4 months of recovery. At this point, there is hope for a return at the end of the season, but that is not a certainty.
  7. Unfortunately, Castillo’s status was complicated by a quadriceps injury. The good news is that he will play 5 games in the ACL starting on Monday and then will head to Carolina. (fingers crossed)
  8. I will update when I hear of anything regarding Guilarte, but Hendry has been dealing with an ankle injury and I believe he is within a week of his return to the lineup.
  9. I will try to do this a few times throughout the season, but let me know what players you would like injury updates on and I will do my best to deliver.
  10. Sad situation with our old friend. I’m afraid that similar situations are all too common. (Luke Barker, Braden Webb, etc.)
  11. I believe Arias is dealing with an injury and is still in the organization, unless I have missed something.
  12. C/1B Tayden Hall is dealing with a nagging lower back injury. He is headed to Arizona to see a specialist and, at this point, it seems as though his absence may be longer than his first stay on the IL this season. That being said, this is not a situation that should keep him out longer than a month, hence the 7-day IL placement.
  13. Was shut down with elbow soreness this spring (also what kept him out of the AFL last year) that is considered a common occurrence when coming back from the procedure he had a year ago. I was told it was considered nothing major and Henderson himself told me, barring a setback, he expected to begin a rehab assignment with the Mudcats in early May, after which he would head to Wisconsin.
  14. For those that may be interested, Luis Lara will be joining the Mudcats this week. Lara and Luis Castillo (hopefully making his season debut in the next couple weeks as well) could be two spark plugs in the lineup.
  15. In more positive news, RHP Ryne Moore (rehab from TJ surgery) will return to the mound next week. Still a little ways from game action, but getting closer!
  16. Unfortunately, it is a throwing arm issue for Low, a forearm issue to be exact. Better than elbow or shoulder for sure, but there is no official diagnosis or timetable for his return at this point.
  17. For those wondering (since information has been nonexistent for some reason), RHP Thyago Vieira is still in the organization and is rehabbing an injury at the Arizona Complex. No, I don’t have much else on the type of injury, but it doesn’t seem to be too serious. My very broad estimate is a return to game action in the next month or two, possibly sooner.
  18. Couple more updates for you: LHP Brian Fitzpatrick has been sidelined since last August with a “stretched” nerve in his pitching elbow. The hope is a mid-season return at this point, most likely late July. RHP Logan Henderson has been dealing with a minor arm injury (same as what held him out of AFL action last fall) that is essentially mild soreness in his elbow. I was told this is to be expected with the elbow surgery that he had early last season and is not particularly cause for concern. He is targeting an early May assignment which will likely be a rehab assignment at Carolina before moving up to Wisconsin.
  19. Still waiting on an update, but I spoke with him on March 25th at which point he said that he was feeling good and ready for a healthy season. Perhaps he is ramping up still and nearing game action. I’ll update if I hear anything else!
  20. OF Arbert Cipion was diagnosed with Keratoconus in both eyes this offseason which is an alteration in the shape of the eye that affects vision to some extent (PS- I am not a doctor). Cipion has had an operation on one eye already and, once that is healed, will have it on the other one as well. No timetable is set for his return, but, unfortunately, I fear it may be a lengthy absence.
  21. LHP Pablo Garabitos expects to be in Wisconsin by the end of the month or early May at the latest as he rehabs a minor arm issue that is not elbow related.
  22. RHP Arielbi Gonzalez is dealing with a more significant injury and does not know when he will return to the mound.
  23. I’ll try to keep these updates rolling the next couple of days, but here are two to start off with: RHP Miguel Segura is dealing a minor (non-arm) injury and expects to be in game action within 2-3 weeks, assuming that will be with the Mudcats. OF Luis Castillo was also dealing with a minor injury but is fully healthy now. He is just getting back up to speed and it may not even be two weeks before he joins Carolina.
  24. @damuelle I appreciate the mention regarding Ryne Moore. Also, I was told that (similar to the Pirates system with Endy Rodriguez and Henry Davis) the Quero/Miller placements were more about making sure they get at bats every day rather than Miller’s issues controlling the running game, although that is obviously a concern. The only question was who would get which assignment as it was pretty much a toss-up in terms of Milwaukee’s confidence in their bats as, of course, both represent a formidable presence in the lineup.
  25. RHP Luis Contreras will start off the season with Nashville. With the number of pitchers in consideration for innings at the highest level, there was a chance he would be sent back to Biloxi to begin the campaign.
