Ro Mueller

Deivi DOES get through the 5th for Nashville with 2 ground outs and a weak fly out. He’s at 88 pitches, the most he’s thrown in any game since 2021. Still 4-2 Sounds, with 2 scheduled innings left in the first day of today’s doubleheader.

Delgado doubled and Adam Hall singled him home for a 4-1 third inning lead, but Gwinnett got that run back with 3 hits off Deivi Garcia in the 4th. Deivi’s at 75 pitches, so probably won’t make it through the 5th frame (of this scheduled 7-inning contest). Hang on Sounds! Still leading 4-2.

The always roaring Mudcats (wait, it’s a fish) can extend their home series lead to 3-0 over Myrtle Beach tonight. RHP Travis Smith (2.25 ERA, 7 Ks in 12 IP) makes his 5th start, while 17-year old SS Jesus Made comes in with 10 hits and 9 RBIs in his last 4 contests.

22-year old RHP Chandler Welch (5.89 ERA, 12 Ks in 18.1 IP) is set for his 5th start, as the Timber Rattlers aim for a 2-1 home series lead over West Michigan. C Blayberg Diaz makes his High-A debut and 1B Blake Burke has 8 hits in his last 4 games.

AA Biloxi is looking for a 3rd straight win at Columbus, this time behind RHP Abdiel Mendoza (6.32 ERA, 12 Ks in 15.2 IP). 3B Luke Adams has 4 HRs and 10 RBIs in his last 6 games.

The Sounds chased Braves #3 prospect Hurston Waldrep in the first inning, with Dunn and Clarke drawing long walks before a Jorge Alfaro RBI single. Then Ray Delgado shook off a 1-for-25 slump with a 2-run single for an early 3-0 lead.

It’s a doubleheader for the AAA Sounds at Gwinnett and RHP Deivi Garcia (3.44 ERA, 16 Ks in 18.1 IP) starts the first game. 2B Anthony Seigler has 2 homers in his last 3 games and SS Andruw Monasterio has a 6-game hit streak.

The class is performing quite well across the board. Really remarkable.

I was high on Henderson and Manuel Rodriguez in prior lists, so I'm pleased they're continuing to progress. I'm not giving up on Hunt despite a relatively slow start to 2025. But I have dropped Wilken (15th in my last list).

Yes, they host the ACL White Sox on Saturday. Last year, the offense carried the team (Bitonti, Di Turi, Adamczewski). Hoping for some breakthrough pitchers this year (Renz, Dubanewicz, Tobias, Dorchies, etc.).

Dunn got the leadoff walk, Clarke K'd, Alfaro flew out to opposite field and Seigler hit a single the other way, potentially setting the stage for Ernesto (if healthy) to do some pinch hit damage. Instead, Delgado bats and grounds out to first. Sounds lose 4-3 due to one poor inning.

The Sounds still trail 4-3, now in the top of the 9th with Dunn, Clarke and Alfaro facing some old guy name Kimbrel.

RHP Evan McKendry gives up 4 runs on 5 hits in the 6th inning, as a 3-0 advantage is more than wiped out. This is McKendry's first action in 11 days. He's basically a long reliever these days and this is his first blow up inning of 2025. He's taken out after 22 pitches (15 strikes) and Easton McGee records the 3rd out (weak grounder). Sounds trail 4-3 heading to the 7th inning.

Well, we let Coleman Crow attempt the 4th inning and he made it 4 pitches (two singles). LHP Nate Peterson has come in and recorded a K, RBI double, sac fly. Biloxi's lead is down to 3-2.

Here's the Seigler shot:

Someone is swinging with confidence:

Rather interesting goings-ons in the late games: Elvin Rodriguez throws 3 shutout innings (39 pitches) and comes out for Garrett Stallings (first appearance in 12 days) Anthony Siegler singled and scored on an Adam Hall triple (Hall's holding up better than I expected at this level), then ripped his 3rd homer (106.4mph, 381 feet) in the 4th inning Coleman Crow faced 2-on (single, error), nobody out in the 2nd inning, then promptly K'd the next 3 batters swinging. He's up to 53 pitches through 3 shutout innings, which is probably his limit at this stage of his build up. Let's see Biloxi scored in the first inning without the benefit of a hit, thanks to wildness of the Columbus pitcher, but we also had a caught stealing (Pratt) and pick-off (Lara) in the first 2 innings. Zavier Warren then notched his 3rd homer of 2025 for a 3-0 advantage in the 3rd inning.

AAA Nashville looks to double their series lead at Gwinnett behind RHP Elvin Rodriguez, who makes his 3rd appearance (2nd start) for the team. 1B Wes Clarke has 10 hits in his last 5 games.

The AA Shuckers have won 10 of 14 games and have RHP Coleman Crow (1.69 ERA, 6 Ks in 5.1 IP) making his 3rd start of 2025, aiming for a 2-0 series lead at Columbus. 1B Luke Adams has homered in 3 of his last 5 games (8 RBIs).

- RHP Brandon Woodruff’s rehab moved to High-A Wisconsin

And now High-A Wisconsin will start its early game, needing a victory behind rehabbing RHP Brandon Woodruff to even their home series with West Michigan. DH/1B Blake Burke is heating up: 7 hits, 1 HR, 1 2B in his last 3 games.

Ya’all have been following 19-year old RHP Bryce Meccage twirl another impressive outing as Low-A Carolina seeks a 2-0 series lead at home against Myrtle Beach. SS Jesus Made entered with 8 hits, 2 HRs and 8 RBIs in his last 3 contests. Here’s the original lineup, by the way:
