    After dropping today’s opening game, 24-year old LHP Nate Peterson (3.75 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 9.4 K/9 in 74.1 IP in High-A/Low-A last year) makes his first AA and 2024 start, with Biloxi needing a victory to avoid a 3-0 series deficit at Mississippi.

    Good to see Cooper Pratt break his mini-skid (0-for-11) with this key 2-run single. And Carolina needed every last run as they held on for the 7-6 win.

    Pretty impressive control from Corniel thus far, it would appear from the way nearly all the contact is to the opposite field (or center field).

    19-year old RHP Daniel Corniel (5.70 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 11.9 K/9 in 36.1 ACL IP in 2023) makes his full season affiliate debut for Low-A Carolina and the team also welcomes back 3B Daniel Guilarte (.691 OPS in 265 Low-A PAs last year) for his first action of 2024. They need a home win to even their series 1-1 against Down East.

    I don’t know anything about labrums or tearing them. The Google search throws up scary results: “Baseball’s Toughest Injury”, “How to Survive Baseball’s Most Fearsome Injury”. Sounds like a long, precarious road back.

    Per the Sounds: Today's game at Memphis has been postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up in a doubleheader on Friday, April 12, with game one starting at 5:05 p.m. Tomorrow's game remains a single, nine-inning contest with first pitch at 6:45 p.m.

    The AAA Sounds are also on the road this week, taking on the Memphis Redbirds. RHP Janson Junk looks for a bounceback start (5 ER in 3.2 IP last week). Cleanup hitter LF Brewer Hicklen is off to a flying start to the season: .357 AVG / .457 OBP / .607 SLG in 35 PAs.

    25-year old RHP TJ Shook (4.62 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 97.1 AA IP in 2023) makes his 2024 debut for AA Biloxi at the Mississippi Braves. 1B Ernesto Martinez leads the team with 3 hits and 3 RBIs.

    Wisconsin plays at the South Bend Cubs this week, sending 20-year old RHP Patricio Aquino (2.75 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 88.1 Low-A IP last year) out tonight for his first-ever High-A start. 3B Mike Boeve has 5 hits over his last 2 games.

    In their small sample size, RHP Enoli Paredes is probably a bit more impressive than RHP Kevin Herget, but Herget comes with 2 option years (vs. none for Paredes). They’ve both gotten off to strong starts at Nashville, with Herget throwing max 94.0, Paredes max 96.5. I didn’t think they’d pull the trigger on this yet (Ashby option). They need starters for 26 games in 27 days. Janson Junk was mediocre last week and they said they want recently-claimed Vladimir Gutierrez to get a few starts in AAA, but the team will figure it out.

    There was an injury delay when Navarreto K’d to start the 9th inning on March 30. Maybe we can discern something from that video.
