  1. Eduarqui Fernandez also K'd. Wisconsin loses 2-1, producing more errors (3) than hits (1). Manager Victor Estevez may seriously have his work cut out for him.
  2. Gregory Barrios grounded out, but Matt Wood walked. Wood represents the potential game-tying run. Jadher Areinamo now Ks. It's all up to RF Eduarqui Fernandez.
  3. Root escaped!! Cooper Pratt saves the game for the second time in the inning, this time catching a line drive and doubling off the baserunner at 1st base, with the runner on 3rd not moving. Bayden Root then K'd the next batter. It's still 3-3 as they head to the 10th inning!
  4. The Sounds are not done. CF Joey Wiemer walk, C Eric Haase RBI double (his 2nd hit of the game), DH Francisco Mejia (yes, he signed and was immediately slotted into the 6-spot in Nashville's lineup) RBI single. They now trail 6-5 through 7 innings.
  5. For Carolina, 2023 draftee RHP Morris Austin (10th round pick) retired all 4 batters he faced, then gave way to RHP Bayden Root in the bottom of the 9th inning. Root has not retired anybody thus far, walking the first three batters in this 3-3 contest.
  6. Wisconsin and Peoria are now in the 9th inning, combining on 3 runs (2 Peoria, 1 Wisconsin) and 3 hits (2 Peoria, 1 Wisconsin). Wisconsin's 3 errors are the difference in the game. Gregory Barrios, Matt Wood and Jadher Areinamo are due up in the bottom of the 9th. RHP Brian Fitzpatrick was excellent in long relief: 4 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks.
  7. 3B Tyler Black gets his 2nd error of the game, which together have contributed to 3 earned runs off of Carlos F. Rodriguez. Oh look, the Sounds trail 6-3 in the bottom of the 7th inning. Maybe Black should be a 1B/OF?
  8. Three singles for Biloxi in the 6th inning (Carlos D. Rodriguez, Ethan Murray, Ernesto Martinez) allowed the Shuckers to cut the deficit to 5-2, but Montgomery immediately responded with 2 runs off LHP Adam Seminaris in the next half inning. Biloxi trails 7-2 in the 7th inning.
  9. LF Luis Castillo is having a rough game for Carolina, going 0-4 while multiple stranding runners each time up. Down to their final out in the bottom of the 9th inning, SS Cooper Pratt smacks an RBI triple the other way, scoring Juan Baez to knot the game 3-3. Go Mudcats!!!! Pratt is 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple, along with 2 RBIs. Woo hoo!
  10. LHP Wade Miley cruised through his first 7 opposing batters before a walk and hard hit double resulted one run in the 3rd inning: 3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez came on in relief in the 5th inning and he's struggling with control, similar to his Opening Day start. The called balls are often far outside the zone, making it far too easy on hitters: 2 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 2 H, 4 BB thus far. Nashville is actually outhitting St. Paul 5-4, but have had 2 caught stealing while Tyler Black contributed an error in his first game at third base this year. The Sounds trail 5-2 in the 6th inning. At least Joey Wiemer hit a ball 107.1mph (an RBI single in the 1st inning).
  11. The Timber Rattlers scored a run in the 1st inning, but didn't actually register their first hit (a Matt Wood single) until the 4th inning. Starting RHP Brett Wichrowski conceded 1 earned run on 1 infield hit in 3 innings pitched. He only walked one and registered 4 Ks. He gave up no line drives and was largely dominant. Unfortunately, the infield single and multiple errors allowed two runs to score in that 3rd inning. Wisconsin trails 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning and still only has one hit.
  12. In Biloxi, Jacob Misiorowski started very well with consecutive Ks and no serious threat through 2.1 IP, but a 4-pitch walk, double and wild pitch resulted in 2 runs in that 3rd inning. After 2 fly outs and a ground out in the 4th inning, Manager Ayrault somewhat surprisingly let him continue into the 5th inning, which saw 2 walks and a wild pitch before calling it a day at 75 pitches (42 strikes): 4.1 IP, 4 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 7 Ks. The Shuckers have just 3 singles and zero runs through five innings, trailing 5-0.
  13. We're presently down in all 4 games - No!!!! The Mudcats are furthest along, trailing Salem 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning despite Josh Knoth and Yujanyer Herrera producing 10 Ks (vs. 4 hits, 5 walks, 1 HBP) in 6.2 IP. Cooper Pratt and Juan Baez have both doubled, while Yophery is 0-for-3 with a walk. Carolina are obviously short on infielders after Dylan O'Rae and Gregory Barrios were promoted and Daniel Guilarte was assigned to the ACL Brewers (Extended Spring Training?).
  14. Hard-throwing, fast rising prospect RHP Brett Wichrowski starts as the High-A Timber Rattlers open their 2024 campaign at home against Cardinals’ affiliate Peoria. Three 19-year olds grace the Opening Day lineup: CF Luis Lara, 1B Luke Adams, SS Gregory Barrios.
  15. Low-A Carolina opens the 2024 season on the road at Red Sox affiliate Salem, with RHP Josh Knoth making his organizational debut and CF Yophery Rodriguez playing his first official stateside game. They’re just 18 years old(!) and so is 3B Juan Baez.
  16. AA Biloxi kicks their season off at home for a 3-game set against Rays' affiliate Montgomery, with RHP Jacob Misiorowski getting the Opening Day start and two first round draft picks Eric Brown Jr. (2022) and Brock Wilken (2023) on the left side of the infield.
  17. LHP Wade Miley gets the rehab start snd C Eric Haase makes his official organizational debut as AAA Nashville shoots for a 3-1 series advantage over St. Paul at home.
  18. Transactions: LHP Darrell Thompson activated by AAA Nashville (now recovered from offseason sports hernia surgery, Thompson pitched the 7th inning tonight, allowing an unearned run despite no hits or walks) OF Yhoswar Garcia signed by the Brewers and assigned to Low-A Carolina (former Phillies super-prospect with a top speed grade) Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 4, St. Paul 3 (in 10 innings) Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Nick Kahle Hits Walk-Off in 10th Inning for Sounds Win The Sounds rode a couple of Old School performances to grab their 4-3 walk-off victory over St. Paul on Thursday. Exhibit A: Starting RHP Evan McKendry (6 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks) threw 82 pitches after an 86-pitch effort five days earlier. The organization wouldn’t ask the same of a 22-year super-prospect or even their MLB starting pitchers at this stage of the season, but 26-year old McKendry was more than up to the task. Exhibit B: C Nick Kahle started his fourth straight game behind the dish, including three nights in a row. Not even extra innings could phase him, with our beloved game then fittingly bringing him to the plate to deliver the game-winning, walk-off hit to the right field warning track. The Sounds dominated in most facets of the game (e.g. 11 hits vs. 4 for the Saints), but lack of clutch hitting (2-for-16 with RISP at one point) and an untimely error made this a tight affair. After a fielding error on right fielder Chavez Young gifted the Saints a 3-2 lead in the 7th inning, left fielder Brewer Hicklen (2-for-4, double, walk, RBI) blasted a double to right field in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly from 1B Owen Miller to re-knot the game. Impressive RHP Enoli Paredes (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks) wasn’t phased by an infield error to start the 9th inning of this tense game, calmly retiring six of the next seven batters to earn a deserved win. Sounds’ Extras: In addition to Hicklen, credit goes to SS Yonny Hernandez (2-for-4, RBI) and DH Tyler Black (3-for-5, double) for solid offensive days. The team was apparently more comfortable having McKendry pitch on five days’ rest than sending RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez out for his second start of the season (on six days’ rest). With Rodriguez not listed to start Friday’s game either, we have to put our antenna up to see if there’s any injury concern. LHP Wade Miley is expected in Nashville any day now to make a rehab start as he builds back strength before returning to the Brewers. Similar to Eric Brown Jr. last year, patience is required with center fielder Joey Wiemer (1-for-4, walk, 2 Ks – .120 season average in a small sample size) after his significant swing change. Unlike Fangraphs, I believe that this is the first of Wiemer’s three option years, as he didn’t spend 20 days in the minors last season by my count. In addition to Kahle, two Saints players (C Jair Camargo, right fielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr.) were certainly clutch on this night: producing all of their hits and RBIs, with Keirsey also throwing out 3B Patrick Dorrian at home on a 2B Isaac Collins (1-for-3, double, 2 walks) double to end the 7th inning. Friday’s outlook: AA Biloxi (home against Montgomery), High-A Wisconsin (hosting Peoria) and Low-A Carolina (at Salem) start their 2024 seasons, with exciting pitching prospects RHPs Jacob Misiorowski and Brett Wichrowski getting Opening Day starts – Misiorowski for the Shuckers, Wichrowski for the Timber Rattlers. Tobias Myers (0 ER in 4 IP in first start) is scheduled to start Game 4 of Nashville’s home series against St. Paul. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. 19. Catching his fourth straight game, Nick Kahle fittingly delivered the walk-off hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to send Nashville players and fans home happy. 20. Fitting that the game comes to Nick Kahle (after an intentional walk and a bunt single) and he ENDS it with a first pitch base hit to right field. Way to go!!! Sounds win 4-3. Let Kahle's body rest!
  21. Enoli Paredes does a fabulous job, stranding the ghost runner and giving Nashville another chance to walk this thing off. We've got Isaac Collins, Yonny Hernandez and Nick Kahle due up. Poor Nick Kahle! He's caught 4 straight games and this one has gone to extra innings! Finish this!!
  22. The Sounds are 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position, while the Saints are 1-for-8. The Sounds have 2 errors vs. 0 for the Saints. Enoli Paredes continues into the 10th inning.
  23. ...and 4 pitches later the Saints escape the inning. Hicklen ground out, Miller ground out, Dorrian fly out. Ugh. We head to the 10th inning tied 3-3.
  24. Attaboy Tyler Black: he starts the bottom of the 9th inning by doubling the other way on a 1-2 pitch which Blewitt probably meant to throw as high heat (instead it was right down the middle).
  25. Enoli Paredes helps himself out by striking out the next batter, then inducing a groundout and getting the lead runner caught between bases. And he induces another ground out. We head to the bottom of the 9th, tied 3-3, with Tyler Black, Brewer Hicklen and Owen Miller due up.
