  1. Really trying to cement the playoff lore, I guess. Some serious salt in the wound. You have Caratini available on the bench. Mitchell, Toro, Black, Hiura (well not anymore), Tellez, Ruf in the organization…all more deserving of an MLB roster spot and capable of delivering in my meaningless opinion. Shoot.
  2. Great job, Milner. Time for Donaldson, Turang and Taylor to turn around an 0-for-6 night.
  3. Got some serious work to do. C’mon Santana, Canha, Frelick
  4. - 1B/OF Keston Hiura of AAA Nashville elected free agency
  5. Expected the same 9 as yesterday, since Peralta has induced a relatively high percentage of ground balls this year, but I’d hoped we’d move Taylor up in the order. Oh well. Let’s WIN!!
  6. The Saguaros were down 1-0 entering the 7th inning before the floodgates opened against them in a 9-0 defeat by Peoria. Box score. Hendry Mendez was stranded after a one-out double in the 5th inning, while RHP Shane Smith did well to strand an inherited runner in the 8th inning, then work around an error (by Eric Brown Jr.) and single to prevent any damage in the 9th inning. Brown's single came in the 8th inning with the game already out of hand. I think it's great that the players get to wear their own franchise's uniforms, like MLB All Star teams that I remember watching years ago.
  7. With just 11 pitchers... With a bench of Monasterio, Caratini, Perkins, Wiemer, Miller and Winker... I think our plan is to ride our starting 10 players as much as possible for the first three games. Corbin - throw at least 7 innings tonight. Starting offense - give us 7 early runs. Let's get it done.
  8. Good news! It looks like we'll get Live Streams for a few games - e.g. October 5, 6, 12, 16, 20, 26 and November 2 and 8. Plus the Home Run Derby (with Wes Clarke?) on November 4 and the Play-In Semifinal on November 10.
  9. The Saguaros won their opening game 13-8 over the Mesa Solar Sox, with 1B Wes Clarke and 2B Eric Brown Jr. both playing big roles in their comeback victory. Box Score Clarke's 3-run homer gave Surprise its first lead (4-3 in the 4th inning), then Brown's 2-run triple gave them the lead for good (9-7 in the 5th inning).
  10. Eight Brewers' minor leaguers are playing for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League from October 2 through November 11, as detailed in an earlier write-up by @Seth Stohs. This thread can cover the daily game highlights and discussion.
  11. Game One: - Donaldson or Monasterio at 3B? - Canha or Tellez at DH? - Frelick, Mitchell or Taylor in CF?
  12. I thought they’d pulled Steele:
  13. Wow. I hope Lauer finds his confidence and footing again some day. Rough
  14. It looks like we’ll option two players on Saturday to enable Eric Lauer and Trevor Megill to return. Guessing Andrews and Boushley, but could be Rea. I’m sure Boushley could use the MLB active roster pay, while one can argue that Rea truly deserves the MLB active roster pay. Oh well.
  15. I’m guessing Jahmai Jones or else we’ll shift someone (e.g. Vieira, Bukauskas) to the 60-day injured list). But a DFA seems more likely to me, since we already went that route with Brian Anderson, suggesting that nobody’s seriously injured.
  16. Let's beat the Cubs, which presents at least a few advantages: Pre-playoff joy, especially for the fans Positions Canha and Donaldson to face more lefties (against the Marlins), not relying on struggling Tellez to play as much Reduces likelihood of Winker making the playoff roster (ahead of Toro - who's a more capable runner and fielder, has a 41-game on-base streak, switch hits and has even hit a few homers) and me being annoyed about it
  17. If Boushley is starting on Saturday (TBD), he'll need to be added to the MLB 40-man roster.
  18. @Brock Beauchamp - would you mind adding RHP Evan McKendry?
