  1. For the week, Nashville and Biloxi were both 4-2 series winners. Wisconsin managed a 3-3 draw in its final series of 2025 and the Carolina Mudcats dropped their final series 4 games to 3. Transactions: SS Jesus Made promoted to AA Biloxi from High-A Wisconsin OF/INF Tyler Rodriguez placed on Low-A Carolina’s 60-day injured list Yes, Brewers' top prospect 18-year old Made is headed to AA ball, following a similar career path as Jackson Chourio to this point: Game Action: Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 6, Fredericksburg 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Close 35th and Final Season with Victory at Fredericksburg With the Zebulon, North Carolina-based Carolina Mudcats playing their final game as a Minor League Baseball affiliate (given the move to nearby Wilson, NC next year), we’ll run through Sunday’s games in reverse order today. Making just his second start at the Low-A level, RHP Carlos Carra from Mexico delivered a solid five innings (2 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 Ks) of work in Fredericksburg and the offense put up runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to give the team a 6-2 lead before calling on the bullpen. Batting 8th, C Yannic Walther from Germany was Mr. Clutch in leading the offense, delivering a 2-out, 2-run single for a 2-0 Carolina lead in the 4th inning, then adding an RBI single as part of a 3-run 6th inning. As he so often does, leadoff OF Josiah Ragsdale spent much of his time on-base (1-for-3, 2 walks, RBI), lifting his season average to .300 in 70 at-bats. 1B Eric Bitonti may not have collected his 20th homer, but he still led the Carolina League with 19 and ended his season with a 3-for-5 game. 2B Luis Lameda also had a 2-for-4 day, including a double for the team’s only extra-base hit. A 9th inning full count single and walk brought the potential game-tying batter to the plate for the Nationals, but RHP Jose Nova (1 IP, 0 R, 1 K) ended the game and season by inducing an opposite field fly out. Mudcats’ Extras: Walther’s bat helped make up for his early defensive struggles, including a passed ball in the 3rd inning and an errant throw in the 4th inning. He also threw out an attempted basestealer to end the 5th inning when the game was still tight at 3-2. LHPs Bjorn Johnson (2 IP, 1 R, 1 K) and Anfernny Reyes (1 IP, 0 R, 1 K) capably handled the middle innings to help the team end its 2025 campaign on a positive note. We’re immensely grateful to the entire Carolina Mudcats organization for their dedicated efforts to make Zebulon baseball accessible to the community and the world for 35 consecutive seasons, with a special shoutout to Chris Edwards and the team for the game notes, recaps, highlight videos and media that they’ve made available in 2025. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: South Bend 5, Wisconsin 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Rattlers Drop Season Finale The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ final game of the 2025 season was perhaps not as bittersweet as Carolina’s and frankly also seemed a bit less interesting without top prospect SS Jesus Made or 2025 first round pick 3B Andrew Fischer in the lineup. That said, 5,934 fans in South Bend, Indiana still came out to the game, watching Wisconsin starting RHP Tanner Gillis struggle a bit while throwing on 4 days’ rest (2 IP, 3 R, 1 BB, 1 K). Ground ball double plays ended the Timber Rattlers’ 2nd and 3rd innings, while a SS Luis Pena double also went for naught in the 4th frame. While Cubs’ starter Kenten Egbert went a whopping 8 2/3 innings, it was essentially a bullpen game for Wisconsin, with 6 pitchers combining to cover 8 innings. An RBI single by OF Luis Castillo with 2 outs in the 9th inning plated Wisconsin’s only run. Each of LHP Anthony Flores (2 IP, 0 R, 4 Ks) and RHPs Yerlin Rodriguez (1 IP, 0 R, 1 K), Jack Seppings (1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) and Jeferson Figueroa (1 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks) delivered scoreless relief, while RHP Aaron Rund ran into difficulty in the 6th inning (1 IP, 2 R, 1 K), with Rodriguez’s benefitting from Castillo’s arm in the 5th inning: Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Wisconsin drew no walks or hit-by-pitches, a rarity for the High-A level. OF Luiyin Alastre produced a 2-for-3 day with 2 singles. It was good to see C Andrick Nava back in the lineup after he’d exited Wednesday’s game early. I think it’s safe to expect that rehabbing DH Luke Adams (1-for-4, run) will join Made in heading to join the Biloxi Shuckers in Birmingham. A huge thank you to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers' staff and multimedia team for putting together another fantastic season in the park, on the air and behind the scenes, including Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner. We appreciate all that you do. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 4, Pensacola 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Burke Grand Slam Leads Shuckers to Win in Home Finale Starting RHP Tyson Hardin (3 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks in 51 pitches) retired the first 9 batters in order before opening the 4th inning with 3 singles and an error, with LHP Jesus Broca and 1B Blake Burke then taking control of the contest. Broca (3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks in 36 pitches) stranded all 3 inherited baserunners to keep the deficit at 1-0, following Hardin’s script to a degree by not allowing any of his 9 batters faced to reach base. Burke had singled and been caught stealing in the 1st inning, flew out to open the 4th inning, then blasted his 8th homer in just his 32nd game at the AA level, a grand slam with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th inning. LHP Raul Alcantara (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K) and RHP Austin Roberts (1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K) ensured that the Blue Wahoos never got the potential game-tying batter to the plate over 3 solid relief innings, with some tremendous help from OF Luis Lara: Shuckers’ Extras: OF Bladimir Restituyo (3-for-3, double, SB) and DH Mike Boeve (2-for-4) joined Burke in having multi-hit evenings, while we should credit OF Garrett Spain (1-for-3, SB) for starting the 5th inning rally which culminated in Burke’s slam. Earlier on Sunday, the Montgomery Biscuits (and old friends Jadher Areinamo and Gregory Barrios) punched their playoff ticket opposite Biloxi, with the teams set to begin their playoff series at Montomgery on September 16. Next week’s outlook: The Shuckers will take a 4.5-hour drive north to play six games at White Sox affiliate Birmingham, with action starting on Tuesday. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 9, Norfolk 7 (in 10 innings) Box Score and Game Log Via a Sounds’ press release, game details: Berroa Drives in Season-High Four Runs, Sounds Hang on in Extras Nashville scored in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings to build a 5-0 lead and was on cruise control behind LHPs Tucker Davidson (4 IP, 0 R, 3 H – all singles, 0 BB, 5 Ks) and Robert Gasser (3 IP, 0 R, 1 H – single, 0 BB, 1 K) before RHP Julian Merryweather reminded us how quickly a lead can vanish. 3B Luis Urias’ audition for a spot on the MLB roster continued with his 100.4mph, 378-foot first pitch homer in the 2nd inning, followed by an HBP to lead off the 4th frame. MLB 40-man rosteree OF Steward Berroa (2-for-5, HR, 4 RBIs) may have entered the contest with a .479 OPS in 71 Nashville plate appearances, but he appears to be turning the corner. The Tides homered on consecutive pitches against Merryweather in the bottom of the 8th inning, part of 5 hits (3 homers, double, single) amongst 6 batters faced, with RHP Blake Holub called into urgent relief and conceding a double and walk before earning a strikeout to keep the lead at 6-5. OF Tyler Black (1-for-3, double, 3 walks) walked and stole his 2nd and 3rd bases of the game with 1 out in the top of the 9th inning, but was stranded before LHP Brian Fitzpatrick allowed the game-tying run without conceding a hit in the bottom half of frame. Thankfully each of SS Freddy Zamora, Berroa and OF Brandon Lockridge (1-for-4, 2 walks, RBI) delivered RBI singles in the 10th inning, the latter two with 2 outs. Sounds’ Extras: LHP Nate Peterson’s AAA debut was something of a dramatic one, walking a batter to bring two potential game-tying batters to the plate in front of 4,111 road fans, but he induced a ground out and finished the game with a full count strikeout, his second of the inning. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. extended his hitting streak to 7 games with a 6th inning single, while also walking and scoring in the 10th inning. Next week’s outlook: Nashville (76-60) returns home to take on Braves’ affiliate Gwinnett (61-77) for six games, commencing on Tuesday. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. Monday is a travel day for the Sounds and Shuckers, while the Milwaukee Brewers head to Texas to battle the Rangers at 7:05pm CST. 3. - OF/INF Tyler Rodriguez placed on Low-A Carolina’s 60-day injured list
  4. The Shuckers seek to clinch a 4-2 home series victory over Pensacola behind stellar 23-year old RHP Tyson Hardin, who’s making his 4th start since a 6-week injury absence (2.1 IP, 1 R, 2 Ks in 40 pitches last week). C Matt Wood has been terrific in AA ball: .783 OPS in 226 PAs with a 30% caught stealing rate (23 of 77).
  5. I’ve been rather down on MLB 40-man roster OF Steward Berroa (.479 OPS in 71 Nashville PAs), but he may be turning a corner over his past 6 games:
  6. Luis Urias 100.4mph, 378-foot homer to lead off the 2nd inning:
  7. The High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ final game of 2025 sees them with an opportunity to finish off a 4-2 series win at the South Bend Cubs. RHP Tanner Gillis will start on 4 days’ rest after a 5 IP, 1 R, 4 K, 69-pitch outing on Tuesday. CF Kay-Lan Nicasia is 9-for-18 with 5 walks in his last 6 games.
  8. Sunday, September 7, 2025 marks the Carolina Mudcats’ final game as a Minor League baseball affiliate, with 18-year old RHP Carlos Carra looking to repeat his solid Low-A debut of last week (6 IP, 1 R, 5 Ks). 1B Eric Bitonti has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games. Will he smack his 20th homer of 2025 in today’s finale in Fredericksburg?
  9. LHP Tucker Davidson makes his 2nd start of the week (5 IP, 2 R, 8 Ks on Tuesday), as AAA Nashville aims to clinch a 4-2 series win at Norfolk. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. is 11-for-22 during his 6-game hitting streak.
  10. You might think that an Adams walk, Made single, Fischer single and wild pitch would result in some runs, but Adams was thrown out trying for 3rd and Made was caught stealing. Still Wisconsin 1, South Bend 0 in the 3rd inning.
  11. Inning-opening singles for Josiah Ragsdale and Eric Bitonti went for naught for Carolina over the first 2 frames, while Fredericksburg followed a 2-out, 2nd inning walk with a 2-run blast off Tyler Renz. The Mudcats are now outhitting the Nationals 3-1, yet trail by a 2-0 score in the 3rd inning.
  12. Luke Adams fell behind. 0-and-2 but ultimately walked to open the Wisconsin-Cubs contest, with Luis Pena driving him home with a 2-out single for an early 1-0 lead.
  13. Daz Cameron delivered a 1st pitch, 3-run blast to open up a 6-0 lead for the Sounds in the 4th inning. Thats’s Cameron’s 17th HR in just 199 at-bats with Nashville. What a minor league campaign he’s had.
  14. Luis Urias has a 1st inning single and 2nd inning 2-run double thus far, as he auditions for an MLB role. Stallings conceded 3 singles and a walk over the first 2 frames, but 2 GIDPs helped prevent any runs. Nashville leads 2-0.
  15. The penultimate game of the High-A Timber Rattlers season sees them seeking a win behind RHP Manuel Rodriguez (3.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 77.1 IP) which would give them a 3-2 series lead at South Bend. RF Kay-Lan Nicasia is 9-for-16 with 2 HR and 2 doubles over his last 5 games.
  16. The 2025 playoffs may be out of reach, but the Low-A Mudcats can still even up their road series at Fredericksburg at 3-3 with a victory behind 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (3.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 in 68.2 ACL/Low-A IP) tonight. After a dreadful July and August (.398 OPS in 160 PAs), SS Filippo Di Turi has hit safely in his last 4 starts.
  17. AA Biloxi have been shutout in 2 consecutive games, but can grab a 3-2 home series lead over Pensacola behind RHP KC Hunt (4.54 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 111 IP) tonight. 1B Blake Burke has a .931 OPS in 128 AA PAs. (Note: Darrien Miller will catch.)
  18. AAA Nashville are in a 2-2 series tie at Norfolk and have RHP Garrett Stallings looking for a repeat of his excellent last start (6 IP, 0 R, 7 Ks last week). 3B Luis Urías makes his 3rd appearance. DH Daz Cameron has a 10-game on-base streak.
  19. Quite the gem by Miqueas Mercedes though: 5 shutout innings - something to build on for 2026. And our young men threw out baserunners at home in the 7th and 9th innings. All to get within 1 out of extending their playoff hopes for another inning, despite being 4-hit. Proud of the squad. Two more games to show yet more progress.
  20. Carolina and Fredericksburg exchanged infield singles (Walther) and no runs in the 2nd inning. Solid work by Mercedes (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) thus far. Mudcats lead 1-0.
  21. 49 pitches thru 3 innings (1 R) are the most for Maciejewski in 61 days, but he heads back out for the 4th inning. Nashville and Norfolk exchanged sac flies in the 1st inning. Tyler Black has our only hit (a single) after 4 turns thru the order. 1-1 game.
  22. Ragsdale singled on the first pitch of the game, later scoring on an Encarnacion groundout. Mercedes worked around an error and a walk. Mudcats lead 1-0 after 1 inning.
  23. Facing the prospect of elimination from playoff contention at Fredericksburg, Carolina needs 19-year old RHP Miqueas Mercedes to ditch his post-promotion struggles (21 ER in 8.2 Low-A IP) and summon his prior form (2.63 ERA in his last 24 ACL IP). Can RF Jose Anderson homer for a 3rd straight day?
  24. LF Luis Castillo returns for his first action for High-A Wisconsin since an injury 13 days ago, with the team looking to even their series at South Bend. RHP Travis Smith had a blip in his last start (4.1 IP, 5 R, 4 Ks), but continues on a terrific 10-game run (2.25 ERA with 35 Ks in last 48 IP).
