  1. Daz Cameron delivered a 1st pitch, 3-run blast to open up a 6-0 lead for the Sounds in the 4th inning. Thats’s Cameron’s 17th HR in just 199 at-bats with Nashville. What a minor league campaign he’s had.
  2. Luis Urias has a 1st inning single and 2nd inning 2-run double thus far, as he auditions for an MLB role. Stallings conceded 3 singles and a walk over the first 2 frames, but 2 GIDPs helped prevent any runs. Nashville leads 2-0.
  3. The penultimate game of the High-A Timber Rattlers season sees them seeking a win behind RHP Manuel Rodriguez (3.03 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, 8.8 K/9 in 77.1 IP) which would give them a 3-2 series lead at South Bend. RF Kay-Lan Nicasia is 9-for-16 with 2 HR and 2 doubles over his last 5 games.
  4. The 2025 playoffs may be out of reach, but the Low-A Mudcats can still even up their road series at Fredericksburg at 3-3 with a victory behind 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (3.15 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 in 68.2 ACL/Low-A IP) tonight. After a dreadful July and August (.398 OPS in 160 PAs), SS Filippo Di Turi has hit safely in his last 4 starts.
  5. AA Biloxi have been shutout in 2 consecutive games, but can grab a 3-2 home series lead over Pensacola behind RHP KC Hunt (4.54 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 111 IP) tonight. 1B Blake Burke has a .931 OPS in 128 AA PAs. (Note: Darrien Miller will catch.)
  6. AAA Nashville are in a 2-2 series tie at Norfolk and have RHP Garrett Stallings looking for a repeat of his excellent last start (6 IP, 0 R, 7 Ks last week). 3B Luis Urías makes his 3rd appearance. DH Daz Cameron has a 10-game on-base streak.
  7. Quite the gem by Miqueas Mercedes though: 5 shutout innings - something to build on for 2026. And our young men threw out baserunners at home in the 7th and 9th innings. All to get within 1 out of extending their playoff hopes for another inning, despite being 4-hit. Proud of the squad. Two more games to show yet more progress.
  8. Carolina and Fredericksburg exchanged infield singles (Walther) and no runs in the 2nd inning. Solid work by Mercedes (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) thus far. Mudcats lead 1-0.
  9. 49 pitches thru 3 innings (1 R) are the most for Maciejewski in 61 days, but he heads back out for the 4th inning. Nashville and Norfolk exchanged sac flies in the 1st inning. Tyler Black has our only hit (a single) after 4 turns thru the order. 1-1 game.
  10. Ragsdale singled on the first pitch of the game, later scoring on an Encarnacion groundout. Mercedes worked around an error and a walk. Mudcats lead 1-0 after 1 inning.
  11. Facing the prospect of elimination from playoff contention at Fredericksburg, Carolina needs 19-year old RHP Miqueas Mercedes to ditch his post-promotion struggles (21 ER in 8.2 Low-A IP) and summon his prior form (2.63 ERA in his last 24 ACL IP). Can RF Jose Anderson homer for a 3rd straight day?
  12. LF Luis Castillo returns for his first action for High-A Wisconsin since an injury 13 days ago, with the team looking to even their series at South Bend. RHP Travis Smith had a blip in his last start (4.1 IP, 5 R, 4 Ks), but continues on a terrific 10-game run (2.25 ERA with 35 Ks in last 48 IP).
  13. LHP Josh Maciejewski (4.84 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 in 61.1 AAA/AA IP) steps in to make a spot start for AAA Nashville after Carlos Rodriguez’s sudden promotion, as they aim for a 3-1 series lead at Norfolk. 25-year old 3B Raynel Delgado has a .937 OPS with 17 SBs in his last 178 PAs.
  14. The AA Shuckers lead their home series against Pensacola 2 games to 1 and have red-hot RHP Jaron DeBerry (1.61 ERA with 29 Ks in 28 IP in last 5 games) raring to go tonight. C Matt Wood has a 1.003 OPS over his last 60 PAs. DH Hedbert Perez sees his first game action in 10 days.
  15. Transactions: N/A Game Action: Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Norfolk 5, Nashville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via a Sounds’ press release, game details: Sounds Winning Streak Halts at Six with Loss to Tides Despite putting men on base in 8 of the 9 innings, Nashville was only able to plate one run, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, stranding 8 and making 2 outs on the bases as their series lead was cut in half. Starting RHP Chad Patrick was throwing on 4 days’ rest after an 85-pitch outing on Saturday, so was unsurprisingly limited to 3 2/3 innings and 71 pitches. He struck out 7 of 17 batters faced and issued no walks, but also allowed 5 singles and a 2-run homer (first pitch, 356-foot pull shot with 2 outs in the 2nd inning). Patrick’s velocity peaked at 94.8mph. In a microcosm of their offensive struggle, DH Rhys Hoskins (1-for-3) walked and OF Tyler Black singled in the 4th inning, but their teammates were unable to bring them around, then 3B Oliver Dunn and C Jeferson Quero came aboard via walks while still trailing 2-0 in the 6th inning, but Hoskins K’d and Black flew out. Quero threw out an attempted basestealer to end the 4th inning and LHP Brian Fitzpatrick (1 1/3 IP, 2 R, 2 Ks) had a 3-up, 3-down 5th inning before four consecutive batters reached against him in Norfolk’s 2-run 6th inning. 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. had the team’s only extra-base hit (a 7th inning double) and he’s now 11-for-22 during his 6-game hitting streak. SS Freddy Zamora also reached base twice in a 1-for-3, 1-walk, 1-RBI day for him. Sounds’ Extras: RHP Justin Yeager (2 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 1 H, 2 BB, 1 K) topped out at 94.9mph on his final 2 pitches, while RHP Julian Merryweather hit 97.5mph in his 3-up, 3-down (2 Ks) 8th inning. Friday’s outlook: Nashville gets a chance to claim a 3-1 road series lead behind 23-year old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez, who tossed 4 scoreless, hitless relief innings last Friday. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Pensacola 2, Biloxi 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Cornielle Delivers Dominant Start, Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos Starting RHP Alexander Cornielle (6 IP, 0 R, 3 H – all singles, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 8 Ks) matched impressive counterpart Jake Brooks (5 IP, 0 R, 5 Ks) pitch-for-pitch as the game was ultimately scoreless into the 8th inning. However, 0 runs, 1 hit and 2 walks obviously put the Biloxi staff in an impossible position. It wasn’t necessarily all easy for Cornielle, as he had to strand the bases loaded via strikeout in the 4th inning and also escape a 2-on, nobody situation in his final frame, aided by 3B Eduardo Garcia gunning down a baserunner at home. LHP Raul Alcantara allowed the first two aboard in the 7th inning, but escaped before LHP Jesus Broca retired consecutive batters in the 8th inning only to allow a full count walk, single and 2-run double to break the deadlock. Shuckers’ Extras: In another silver lining, 2B Zavier Warren (1-for-3) returned to action for the first time in 11 days, delivering a double with 1 out in the 5th inning. I would imagine that Luke Adams’ return next week will complete the team’s roster restoration before the Southern League playoffs commence on September 16th. Friday’s outlook: RHP Jaron DeBerry looks to continue his second half surge (1.61 ERA in 28 IP with 29 Ks over his last 5 starts) and lead Biloxi to a 3-1 series lead. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final (Resumed Game): South Bend 5, Wisconsin 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Cubs Win Completion of Wednesday’s Suspended Game Final (Scheduled Game): South Bend 7, Wisconsin 4 (in 7 innings) Box Score and Game Log Game details: Rattlers Stumble at South Bend Wednesday’s rain-suspended game resumed in the bottom of the 4th inning with the Timber Rattlers leading 2-1 and 20-year old RHP Bishop Letson entering for his 4th outing since a 3-month injury absence. And Letson absolutely did his part to lead the team toward a potential victory, allowing no earned runs and striking out 5 batters over 4 innings while he upped his pitch count to 61 (43 strikes). However, an untimely error extended the 6th inning, ultimately resulting in 2 unearned runs coming across. Rehabbing Adams (0-for-2, walk, HBP) is understandably still trying to find his groove after a 2-month absence, but the 21-year old knows how to get on base, drawing a catchers’ interference and scoring to re-knot the game in the 7th inning. Unfortunately, Wisconsin failed to convert a bases loaded, 1-out opportunity in the 8th inning and LHP Anthony Flores had his first difficult outing in about 2 months as the Timber Rattlers fell short. In the 7-inning nightcap, Wisconsin out-hit the Cubs 7-5 and had 3 extra-base hits, but never quite recovered from the 3-run, 29-pitch first inning that starting RHP Sam Garcia (3 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 3 H, 4 BB, 3 WP, 4 Ks) labored through. C Marco Dinges’ 12th homer of 2025 made it a 4-2 game in the 4th inning as part of two highly productive games for Dinges (combined 3-for-7, 2 walks, 2 RBIs), but a 2-out, 2-run double off RHP Miles Langhorne dug the hole deeper. Outs on the bases hurt the team in the 3rd and 5th innings, but an OF Luiyin Alastre RBI single cut the deficit to 6-3 and OF Kay-Lan Nicasia walk loaded the bases with 1 out before a strikeout and lineout ended the opportunity – part of a 2-for-13 performance with runners in scoring position. RHP Yerlin Rodriguez struck out 5 of 9 batters faced over 2 solid innings, allowing only a single and a walk to go with an unearned run. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Along with Dinges, each of Alastre (3-for-7, 2 RBIs, SB), 3B Andrew Fischer (2-for-8, double, RBI) and Nicasia (1-for-4, double, RBI, 3 walks) had solid 2-game numbers. INF Jesus Made went a combined 1-for-8 with a walk, run scored and an error. Entering the second game in a 2-for-44 slump with 1 walk, SS Luis Pena swung at the first pitch his first two times up (both fly outs) before a single to center field in the 5th inning. He also lined out to center field with the bases loaded in his final at-bat. The two contests were a bit of a nightmare for OF Daniel Guilarte (0-for-6, walk, 4 Ks, caught stealing, error), but we know the 21-year old will bounce back. Friday’s outlook: RHP Travis Smith (3.40 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 6.2 K/9 in 98 Low-A/High-A IP) starts Game 4 of this week’s series, with Wisconsin trailing 2 games to 1. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Game One Final: Carolina 5, Fredericksburg 1 (in 7 innings) Box Score and Game Log Game Two Final: Fredericksburg 7, Carolina 3 (in 7 innings) Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Mudcats Split Doubleheader with Fredericksburg This final regular season battle in Fredericksburg is essentially a playoff series for the squads, both aiming to secure the second half crown and a place in the playoffs. Starting LHP Wande Torres, relief counterpart RHP Joshua Quezada and 1B Eric Bitonti stepped up to the moment in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader, with Bitonti smashing his 19th blast of 2025 to plate SS Brady Ebel (2-for-4, RBI) in the top of the 1st inning. That lead was extended to 5-0 on RBI hits from Ebel (a double for his first professional extra-base hit), OF Handelfry Encarnacion and DH Kevin Garcia in a 3-run third inning. 20-year old Torres (4 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 1 WP, 3 Ks) didn’t face any real tension until the bottom of the 3rd inning, allowing a 2-out walk and hit-by-pitch to load the bases and running the count to 3-and-1 before getting the key ground ball out. 20-year old Quezada (3 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 Ks) was tasked with covering the final 3 innings and did so with aplomb, striking out 5 of the first 7 batters he faced and also limiting the final inning damage to 1 run despite loading the bases with nobody out in that frame. In the crucial nightcap, a 2-out, 1st inning single plated 2 runs against 18-year old starting LHP Enderson Mercado, but OF Jose Anderson quickly responded with a 2-run shot to bring home OF Josiah Ragsdale (1-for-3, walk, RBI) in the bottom half of the inning. Yes, Carolina was the home team in this particular game, a make-up of their July 13 rain-out. A 2-run homer restored Fredericksburg’s advantage in the 4th inning and consecutive extra-base hits to open the 5th frame chased Mercado (4 1/3 IP, 5 R, 7 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks), but the Mudcats were back in business in the bottom of the 5th inning, down 5-3 with the bases loaded and 1 out. Unfortunately, a pitching change fizzled that rally. The doubleheader split means that the Mudcats’ season is now down to its final strike, as they need to reel off 3 victories over their final 3 games at Fredericksburg (and hope for at least one Fayetteville loss elsewhere) to overcome a 2-game deficit in the standings and claim a playoff berth. Mudcats’ Extras: INF Filippo Di Turi had solid production over the 2 games (3-for-5, walk), while Garcia went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the one game he played in. The second game marked the full season affiliate debut of 2B Juan Ortuno, who returned to game action after a 3-month injury absence, collecting a 7th inning single as part of a 1-for-2 evening with an HBP. Three outfield assists by Ragsdale, Encarnacion and Anderson weren’t enough to overcome the 10-to-4 hit differential in the second contest, but that’s still some notable defense over 7 innings. RHP Bryan Rivera covered 2 2/3 IP of relief in the second game, registering 4 strikeouts while allowing 2 runs. Friday’s outlook: 19-year old RHP Miqueas Mercedes is set for his 2nd Low-A start (5th appearance), needing a breakout performance after allowing 21 earned runs in 8 2/3 innings over his last 4 games. 17. Hey, a Ragsdale single and Jose Anderson 2-run shot knot things back in the bottom of the 1st. Sweet!! Anderson nearly hit for the cycle in yesterday’s tough loss, so that’s back-to-back homer days for him.
  18. Sadly, a 2-out, 2-run single to center gives Fredericksburg a quick 2-0 lead in Game 2 of Carolina’s doubleheader. Carolina is the home team in this contest, as it’s a make-up game from an earlier home series.
  19. Nicasia stays hot, doubling home Dinges, but that’s all we get. Down 3-1 in the 2nd inning.
  20. Salem just turned a 2-0 early deficit into a 6-2 lead in the 4th inning against Fayetteville. That’d be a helpful result for our Mudcats, who are battling Fayetteville and Fredericksburg for a playoff spot.
  21. Garcia had an unpleasant 3-run, 29-pitch first inning, conceding a double, 2 singles and 2 walks. But a Dinges walk and Baez single have us in business in the 2nd inning.
  22. After finishing up yesterday’s rain-suspended game with a close loss, Wisconsin is tied 1-1 in their series at South Bend. The teams follow with a 7-inning contest tonight, with RHP Sam Garcia (4.22 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 in 98 High-A/Low-A IP) toeing the slab. SS Luis Pena gets a chance to snap out of a 2-for-44, 1 BB funk.
  23. 2B Juan Ortuno (.889 OPS in 92 ACL PAs) makes his Low-A affiliate debut after a 3-month injury absence, as Carolina seeks to complete a doubleheader sweep at Fredericksburg. Intriguing 18-year old LHP Enderson Mercado gets the start after exiting early via an injury delay in his last outing 8 days ago.
  24. LHP Anthony Flores had been on such a great run: 1 ER over last 20 IP with 24 Ks; 3 ER over last 26 IP with 31 Ks. But tonight he gives up a single and homer to the first 2 batters he faces in the bottom of the 8th inning in South Bend. Shoot! Timber Rattlers trail 5-3.
  25. Great job by Quezada to close it out in Fredericksburg, even after loading the bases with nobody out in the 9th. He allowed just 1 run over 3 innings, registering 6 Ks in 54 pitches to save arms for Game 2 tonight. That’s a 5-1 Mudcats’ win in Game 1.
